People were doing what Steph did, just on a lesser scale.
Ray Allen was peaking at 8 3PA a game. Reggie Miller was killing teams with elite off the ball movement. Even players like Gilbert Arenas were launching deep off the dribble threes.
What Curry did was combine incredible volume with devastating efficiency. He put everything together and most importantly WON.
Just like LeBron. Pippen was already playing as a point forward in Chicago for instance. And Magic was a big playmaker who could score at a high level after Kareem dropped off. But just like Curry supercharged what the others before him did, LeBron also supercharged what those before him did.
Nothing in basketball happens out of thin air. People are constantly improving on the works of their predecessors.
It's evolution, not revolution.
Curry’s influence on this game is unprecedented. The game’s high scores, offensive driven league is all thanks to Curry and the Warriors’s success.
No actually that goes to Don Nelson and Mike D'Antoni they brought that style to the nba. Curry just took to another level.

It's rule changes, if they were allowed to play more physically defensively, and didn't change how they called travels it wouldn't be an explosive offense as we see today.
Curry changed the game for the worst because many players today are out there shooting 3s they can't make.

If you watched the full podcast, Bron said since he’s been watching and studying the game, those two guys he mentioned are the most influential. Not to take away from any accomplissements from MJ and magic bc they are great for a reason, but AI and Steph being the size they are and doing what they do does have a major influence on the world and kids.

Michael's game was head and shoulders above others, but his game at its foundation was similar to many of his predecessors. (I love MJ, just to be clear.) What Steph - and AI to a lesser degree - did was new. The same could be said about Magic also. And perhaps even Dirk, because not too many 7-footers before him were launching 3s. Now many do.
How can you say MJ wasn't the most influential? Every player since MJ has been influenced by him, and it's not close. Curry is way lower influence than MJ and Iverson isn't even in the convo.

Just go to the courts and you'll see his influence on the game. Whether it's the older players or the young ones, you'll see them shooting from beyond the arc. Whether they have a good shot or not, whether they can dribble or not, one thing is for sure - they all have Curry in mind when they attempt those three-pointers.
Not everyone is tall, not everyone is athletic, not everyone has hang time, but anyone with a normal height can shoot from beyond the arc. That's the reason why not everyone can be MJ, Kobe, or LeBron, but everyone can aspire to be like Curry behind the three-point line. That's why many people can relate to Curry, that's why he is the most influential in this era.

@dcolum23 That wasn't just Mike, tho. The dream team did that in'92, with Mike being the star and then the 90s saw the NBA build on the success of the 80s with improvements in television and global communication.
Mike getting the shoe game accolade ain't a joke though, he revolutionised that whole industry, Nike basically owes him for the success of their company and the effect he had on the shoe game in the NBA and street culture will never be replicated. It's the reason he's the richest athlete in the world today.

How is Steph and AI more influential to the NBA than MJ? There‘s billions of people from all continents of the world that only knew of the NBA back then because of one name and one name only. Pre internet and social media too. The NBA gained popularity among the USA through Larry and Magic, and went international once MJ took over.
MJ is GOAT level. Along with Bron they are on a separate tier. People wanted to play LIKE THEM. Steph changed the very fundamentals and playbook of every single team in the league since the day he stepped in the league. AI brought a relatability and swagger to the game and made players feel they could express themselves fully. Seeing as after AI they removed the post game dress code

One of the worst things Steph brought was in Jr basketball - 8 yr olds heaving horrible 3s. The worst form ever, 2% efficiency and if one goes in they feel validated and jack up more.

During USA basketball we were down by 1 in the closing seconds we only attempted 3s. That's the Curry affect.
As a white kid at 5'8, and never played pass HS Ball - AI gave me confidence I could make it. I imagine Steph did the game. Kids csnd be Shaq, LeBron, Giannis, Tim Duncan, Jordan, etc. But when short NBA guys dominate, it gives normal fans hope and inspiration. Kinda like Drew Brees. Kids are like - I'm not super tall and smart like Peyton and Brady. I'm not powerful and have a strong arm like Ben Roethlisberger, nor am I super fast like Mike Vick or Lamar Jackson... but, I can be accurate,play hard for my team and be like Drew Brees....
One day, I’d love to see a conversation with Lebron, Steph, and Draymond, to analyze the Cavs v. Warriors Finals run and share behind-the-scenes stories.

Steph has shot over 90% from the line, over 50% from 2, and over 40% from 3 for his CAREER. There is no question who the greatest shooter of all-time is. 💯
Steph is different watching him play live over last season and especially this season with multiple people guarding and fouling him he doesn't show emotion until people start talking mess and this light turns on inside of him that's so freaking amazing. When we watched the Kings fans taunt him at the Golden 1 Center during the finals last year when I tell you they poked the bear and he just let loose and when he hit the night night on them. Warriors fans went wild! That stadium with the annoying cow bells stopped it was so cool to get a win.
