    If I only had one generator I would purchase the larger one because that is what I need. Noise is not a factor as everyone around me runs their generator when needed. That is one weird carburetor for sure. Great job. Hope you show the load with the generator as well. Thanks for the videos

    If that engine has a compression release on it, you won't get more than about 65 lbs. when doing a test. Thanks for the video.

    Great Video, I have the exact generator since Hurricane Katrina, 2005. I've replaced the carb twice and needed to buy an aftermarket fuel tank, but has always been there for me. again great video.

    I have a 5K Coleman with a 10 horse I/C Briggs 'L' head for 220 because of the well pump. I fixed a 5k with a Tecumseh that was a PAIN like that one and what I've seen from James Condon, an inverter is just too complicated and fragile to mess with. My old Briggs is 26 years old and still runs fine. I added electric start, a throttle and a 'T' fitting with a seperate valve and hose to drain the excess gas out of the system right after I get through using it and run the carb dry as well. Never had an issue and I turn it over on a regular basis with the starter so it keeps it's residual magnetism. Good fix.

    That is a vector “disposable” Tecumseh carb.
    Very rare. The only uses them for very limited time before they went back to the old design.
    I have never worked on 1 of those
    And likely never will, they are rare.
    I would get a Predator generator

    I own and use a small Predator inverter on a daily basis. The only problem I've ever had is that the pull cord has a problem with abrading. Both of the ones that I've owned had the same problem. Otherwise they have run fine for years.

  • @baileyhatfield4273
    @baileyhatfield4273 2 роки тому +1

    My only issue with the smaller generators, is that sometimes for simple fixes, you gotta tear half of the thing down, and still struggle with room to get things out. From the carburator (common) to air filters to replacing the pull rope because it got old and snapped...

    In the area we live there's really no problem with losing power and if it does happen, it's not out for long. I'd really like one of those Hondas or HF ones but it's not at the top of the list at this time.. Those all-battery generators are interesting and seem to get better on what the can power and for how long.

    Something a lot of people don't think about or know about, most if not all small engines have compression release, so 65-PSI compression is actually fine.
    I have personally dealt with a similar engine in the past, with the same carburetor, personally I like them, easy to work on but yes they are fragile.

    Another great video. I look forward to all of your uploads. Question, do you recommend storing a generator with a tablespoon of motor oil thru the spark plug hole to prevent the rings from getting stuck?

      No, I would suggest putting the piston at the top of its travel.

    We already own a generator it’s a firman from Costco. A Honda motor clone but it’s tri fuel so it run on gasoline propane and natural gas. So if we run out of gas we go to propane and after that natural gas but the highest watts are for gasoline so you have to keep that in mind. It’s is a 439cc. It runs the whole house on gasoline.

      @@HomeGaragechannel we have a few of those here in Michigan. I assume yours sells 100% gas? I will check ours. Here in the farm belt, they want corn in our fuel. We have stations, usually near lakes, that sell “recreational gasoline” that is 90 octane, 100% gasoline and about $1 more per gallon than the gasoline they sell for cars.
