  • Hey everyone! If you are new here, I love japanese rock/metal music and already know and love a lot of amazing bands (Babymetal being my absolute favourite), but I never listened to Band-Maid before starting this reaction channel and all I know by them so far is their album Conqueror, Just Bring It and I just finished Brand New Maid.
    I've noticed with Band-Maid A LOT, that you have to listen to their songs multiple times to really grasp what is going on and the more I listen to them the more they grow on me (like with Babymetal ;).
    Now we are continiuing this awesome journey by listening to their album 'Brand New Maid' from start to finish!
    Not sure if anyone even reads this stuff here, but I'll provide my personal 'BAND-MAID best of' -playlist here too (including how many times I have listened to these songs on my phone), so you can see how that changes over time and what my favourite songs are (*cough*mirage*cough*).
    (Probably a bad idea since it will most likely just get bigger and bigger xD I might have put a limit on it at some point^^)
    My BAND-MAID personal best of playlist (at this point in time, from what I know by them so far and in no particular order) please consider I had more time to listen to the albums I did first (1.Conqueror - 2.Just Bring It - 3.Brand New Maid)! :
    -Mirage (81x...lol I will do the acoustic version once I reach 100 xD)
    -Wonderland (45x)
    -Bubble (29x)
    -Blooming (37x)
    -輪廻 (RINNE) (21x)
    -カタルシス (Catharsis) (18x)
    -Dilemma (23x)
    -azure (22x)
    -Moratorium (12x)
    -YOLO (14x)
    -influencer (haven't bought that one yet)
    -OOPARTS (6x)
    -So, What? (9x)
    -Time (5x)
    -you. (11x)
    -Awkward (8x)
    -decided by myself (7x)
    -the non-fiction days (9x)
    -LOOK AT ME (6x)
    -ORDER (4x)
    -FREEDOM (5x)
    -Before Yesterday (5x)
    -alone (4x)
    (still not much changed here since last time, because I am discovering a lot of amazing music at the moment and simply can't listen to everything all the time xD still love the maids very much, po! ;)
    Thank you all for being so nice and understandable! I wish you all a great day and hope you enjoy! :)

    There's something special about this song. Band-Maid fans all love and adore Miku and what she has done. This song is a showcase of how far she has come and how far she can still go, so it has a special meaning for a lot of us. The last high note was something she had to work really hard on to hit, and pushed herself to be able to do it. During the recent tour, the audience in every city where she performed was always rooting for her to hit it, and always cheered for her.
    When the acoustic concert came out last year around Christmas, the acoustic version of Sayonakidori was also significant in that it was the first time Miku was performing without Kanami. She had to sing and play her guitar without another guitar as a backup. Therefore in the arrangement, Misa takes on the role of playing more lead lines, and takes over the solo as well. Again, fans couldn't help but feel proud of Miku for what she was able to do.
    I think you'll enjoy Unseen World. It will be another evolution in their sound. The theme behind the album is in 2 parts.. one is forward facing and new types of songs, and one is looking back on the songs that made them popular, and are in that style.

    agreed, they are like two different songs. Normally I would have guessed I would love the heavier rock version vs the acoustic version. but the acoustic version is amazing, so good. I love that so much. the lighter drums, the bass line and getting to really hear Miku's beautiful voice and guitarwork is a gift. They really gave us fans an amazing gift last year with that show. I wish we had it on CD/DVD/Blu-ray etc, I need it! I have said it many times, but I really hope they release it for us someday.

    I absolutely love the dichotomy between these two versions!! 😮 As you said, each brings different elements of the song forward in interesting and engaging ways. Personally, I’m always blown away by the original, studio electric version and love everything about it - and especially love the breathless emotion in Miku’s vocals - that plaintive wail at the end moves me intensely. All pure genius! 🔥🎼🎸😀

    Both Of Miku's songs, Sayonakidori (10 shows) and Rock In Me (4 shows) went down a storm on the US tour, Sayonakidori in particular seemed to be a highlight for many.

    The acoustic on line concert was just the highlight of the year for many. They also did a commentary with English subtitles which was really genius and fun. Both Akane and Misa were nervous about backing vocals. We forget that Miku singing and playing so well and in the spotlight was also playing on her nerves as well. Then the live version is as others have said just a different beast. Miku probably has a more emotional range but not as powerful as Saiki. Her Cluppo is very pop princess but there are some good tracks and well worth a listen.

    @Glenner7 Рік тому +6

    Yes, Unseen World and Unleash are MUCH heavier and technical than the earlier eras you've been going through. You have a LOT to look forward to! Also, cluppo is radically different from Band-Maid (especially the Band-Maid of today).

    In Cluppo Miku revisit her pop roots which she mixes with some jazz, and one song the intro of which reminds me of baroque harpsichord hehe...

    Two great songs that are somehow the same song. : )
    BTW, Miku's cluppo project is much poppier, but some of the songs wander into jazz territory.
    I would start with 'PEACE&LOVE', the first cluppo single and music video.

    Looking for more contrast?.."Puzzle" LIVE acoustic...Who've heard the LIVE rocking version..which is awesome...But you've not heard the acoustic LIVE of the same track (or have you?)..If not ..you should!....IT'S A MUST!! 🤯...It's a "double feature" with the acoustic version of "Anemone"...Both are absolutley STUNNING!!.😳..It's just Kanami & Saiki....You can see how much emotion Saiki puts into as it appears there are tears on her face( could be just beads of sweat, but I think it's tears as they are coming from below her eyes) And at the end you she leaves pretty quick as it looks like she is fighting back the tears.🤗...Try to get the version with Kanami's music box opening....That alone is beautiful.🤯🥰

    Akane's backing..🥰...Akane said she found the concert tricky to play as using the rods to play slower and keeping the volume under control pretty tricky...But she delivered...like they all did..It was an awesome Christmas gift....Akane also used a cajon during the show.

    Oh you're going to love Unseen World when you get there. I keep changing my mind about which is my favourite version of Sayonakidori, but Miku's voice was just made for the acoustic.
    Like you, I thought it was Saiki reciting the Romeo and Juliet quote in the bridge, but apparently it's Miku. I guess after years of blending voices, she can do a pretty good Saiki impression when she wants to!
    The seven Cluppo songs that exist are very different from Band-Maid, whether electric or acoustic, and Miku also explores a few different vocal styles in them. Not sure which one to recommend, as I generally prefer the Cluppo songs without MVs. As there aren't many, maybe just do them in order when you get to it?

    • @react-o-mat
      @react-o-mat  Рік тому +2

      Wow really? I had no doubt that was Saiki 😅
      I still have to listen to the actual album version, but right now I would agree that her voice just fits that acoustic setting perfectly.
      Someone said it's pop and I am not really into pop, but I also was not really into rock before Band-Maid 😂 I'll just give it a try sometime ;)

    • @kicorse
      @kicorse Рік тому +2

      @@react-o-mat If you want to avoid pop, then avoid the MVs with Cluppo. "voice" and "Superstar" are my two favourites. On the other hand it might be more fun to try something as different as possible, not expecting to like it: that would be "POGO".

    Hi There- There are often copies of the acoustic CD available on Ebay but they are very expensive now. Keep checking though. The beauty of Miku's voice brings tears to the eyes of many metal heads. It's funny how people listen to Band-Maid for their heavy rock, then end up liking the acoustic songs as well. Best rhythm section in rock.

    They use the rock version on tour in the US to give Saiki's voice a rest.

  • @greylocke100
    @greylocke100 Рік тому +2

    First, on the Acoustic, Miku rearranged the song herself. All of the other songs performed during the acoustic concert were rearranged by Kanami. EXCEPT Sayanakidori. Miku did all the arranging only needing Kanami's help with a few of the chording issues. Everything else was Miku.
    Second, in the Acoustic version Miku was told she could use her "Head Voice" or Falsetto for the high note. During the full on performance and the studio release she was told she had to keep it her "Chest Voice" her normal singing voice, and she NAILS it in both of them. During the recent US Tour, Miku tried her best to keep the chest voice for the high note but she fell flat a few times. However we all love her for even trying to make it, it shows us that she and her band mates want to deliver to us their fans what they were given in the studio recording.
    And at the end of the acoustic performance, you can see Miku physically relax. her shoulders came down and you can see in her face how relieved she was to have done as well as she did. And in my opinion, she knocked it out of the park, a grand slam 4 run home run.
    And you really need to check out Cluppo. It is NOT like Band Maid, it is in Miku's own words, "Hippie Pop, PO!" You have to remember, Miku, before she formed Band-Maid was in a Japanese Pop Idol group. So she is very familiar with pop music, and early Band-Maid was considered a more pop-punk/pop-rock sound which has evolved to their current sound.
    And I love both versions, but I do love the acoustic a little bit more than I do the full up live version. But If one or the other comes up on my playlist, neither will get skipped.
