Also, I’m super jealous of that field! You have a wonderful spot for flying.

Haha. Yes, this field is about a 12 minute drive from home. The big field you see where I fly over the beach etc is about a 3 minute drive from home. It has more foot traffic and closer light poles etc so I want to be VERY comfortable with the p15 before I bring it to my much more convenient field. Also interestingly, I also have to contend with WAY more air traffic-- helicopters, private single engined planes and bloody sky divers (watch that video).
      Cheerio!

Awww thanks! So glad you enjoyed the second hand toss. Usually very tired after the first completed hand toss. Hand tossing planes, of course. 🤣🤣👍👍👌

Totally. As a pilot flying for about 9 months now, this is my very first edf and after blowing the fan apart (you have to watch that video, too!) I decided to upgrade to the gws edf.. oh my god. I'm actually worried my next more expensive edf won't be as cool or fast as this baby!!!!
Thanks for your great videos, man. I always watch them and loved your 64mm collection. You inspired me to get my Lippisch and try edfs. Best decision ever.

I love these little planes! Currently On my fifth, with various mods and power setups. You have to throw it almost straight up to get a consistent launch. It will do an arc to level flight under power, and away you go!

Hey man! Thanks for the tips. I've been filming many more of the flights I've had with the Lippisch so I'm putting together all the footage of the launches fly-bys and landings.
I generally don't throw straight up (worried about a stall). The first launch I just didn't really even throw it! Lol. I'm used to only hand launching a powered glider that is like having the power of a stallion pulling at the reins. Edfs are different I'm coming to appreciate!
      Cheers man!
      Nick

Some guys add 3-5mm reflex on a switch for launching. It seems to help. Also watch out for diving under throttle punches, the cheaters on the underside can cause you to lose a little lift for a brief moment. It’s not an issue if you’re high up but low passes can get sketchy.

Yes, I have a launch switch programmed. I always use it! It definitely has to be turned OFF after altitude gained. For all the reasons we have discussed, I'd say, unless a new edf pilot is up for the nuance and slight complexity of the Lippisch (launch switch, programmed reflex, no rudder etc) I would steer them toward something like the Arrows Marlin which can be taken off from the ground and although has flaps, can be easily landed without them.

@@nickhayley the arrows viper is harder to hand launch than the lippish, same 3s power but the viper is larger and heavier!
