Steve, I love your channel! I flew RC planes way back in the 1970’s (I still have most of them) but stopped when I became a pilot of full size planes. I plan to get back into the hobby soon though. I have a small constructive criticism. Please call them “control surfaces”, not control areas. Thanks.
Good choice for a first edf - doesn't need a catapult even on 3s - flies well out of the hand Old hands will be aghast but add a decent gyro and reduce your chances of destruction!
Also you arent supposed to throw them up; thatll give em a higher angle of attack Throw it straight, give it a firm toss. Maidened mine yesterday and kept stalling when it was thrown upwards
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 the underpowered part is during hand launch. Launch it with a bit too much nose up and there's no way it's gonna fly Otherwise I think it's about there, flying just above stall speed The moment I pull a little too hard the thing stalls and rolls XD You can see at 2:48 the thing rolls after takeoff That's what I'm talking about, getting blown about by the wind XP
Thanks for the review of the F9F. I will more in likely purchase one this week. The Catapult. I would like to make one. Where is the design located or video "how to"?
i have a freewing stinger 64 mill fan edf... this is a 64mm also.. 4s is a different motor more blades on edf so thats why it sounds better, but higher blades is slightly less eficient...You can also just upgrade to a 40 amp hw esc with 3s plane and use a 4s...
Been looking for my first EDF jet to move up from my XK Trojan. Wondering if I could fly this if I’ve pretty much mastered the Trojan. I know the jet would be faster but it’s a bit bigger was well so perhaps more stable in comparison.
Hi Steve, i love this plane! It looks like a blst and is kind of a stronger cooler version of my push prop glider. I have wanted to get a new plane but i have only had planes with controllers included. The thought of buying a radio and plane etc scares me. I always think that im going to buy a radio and its not going to work with whatever plane i buy. Did you have these same fears? Probably not because you already addressed all of that with fpv drones. I am just so broke that making a mistake like that i could go ballistic! 😅😂
No fears on my end because when I first started flying FPV Drones, I started with a SPEKTRUM RADIO. Now Spektrum in North American is a radio used not only with FPV drones and RC Helicopters but also RC Planes, so I was all set. I just had to buy a pile of Spektrum receivers (4 channel and 6 channel).
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yeah but this one stalls unevenly. Seen two videos of this plane , at low speeds and high angle of attack it dips one wing and it's difficult to recover especially the starts are problematic.

Great little jet. Im expericned in EDF now and got this jey last month. Most fun per £ i have in the hanger. Fly mine on 5s and its very very rapid. £90 posted from Motion. This is the value for money everything made with foam should be like it was a few years ago. Its also very very easy to hand launch. Juat put a little mix in for some up EL with throttle. Once up turn mix off.
@CAPTAINDRONE798 I meant it seems like a really low price, even most decent prop planes cost more than that lol. I'll have to bookmark this for when I get better with props and feel ready to try jets
@CAPTAINDRONE798 no worries, you were very polite about it, and I realized after you replied that I phrased my comment very poorly, in a way easily misunderstood
I'm curious, why do you always mention that you're a drone pilot even when reviewing stuff that has nothing to do with that aspect? Not trying to be mean or anything, it's just something that's stuck out as "out of place" to me... Thanks!
Very simple. The world changed in the past 5 years and the MEDIA and MILITARY now calls everything that flies in the sky that is unmanned, a "DRONE". So for the old people (like me) that grew up long ago, an RC Plane was a Plane and an RC Helicopter was a Helicopter and a Drone was some that had four motors and hovered in place. Today that is not the case, everything GOOD or BAD unmanned is a drone. On my channel I fly everything unmanned, thus the DRONE pilot. Other UA-cam channels do not have the skills to fly more than one item, so you get channels that are DJI Drones only, or FPV drones only, or RC Helicopters only, or RC Planes only. Since I do it all, the label becomes "Drone Pilot".
@@CAPTAINDRONE798Can't say I agree with your logic that everything unmanned is a drone, but then again I do get kids shouting "nice drone" when I'm flipping a Trex 470l around... 🤔
@@HugeVictor Not my logic... but rather the state of the word. Do a google search for military use of Drones as an example and you'll get Planes, Helicopters, and eventually a drone.

Yeah like someone said I'd like a small a long range sub250g jet maybe like a jet fan. Want to see some experimental propulsion but maybe I'll design my own 🤷🏻♂️
Seems it's really nice choice for beginners. Catapulta of plumbing pipes is awesome construction.
Finger up Sir!
Build a viggen if you want a easy to fly edf.
Thanks again Captain.

Upgraded a 3 s Panther to 4s in 2017. amazing sound.
Also a good choice for first edf the arrows marlin. Inexpensive and simple

Another great review. Simple and to the point. I was trying to decide on my first EDF. I think I found it. Thanks Captain!
Glad it was helpful!

Good review again Steve
Thank you & thank you for checking it out
AWSOME FOOTAGE STEVE.
Thank you!
Fun video ! 😃
You make everything look fun !
Thanks Cap !
awesome stuff again!
Nice navy plane ✈️
Hard to get a feel for the flight characteristics when using the on board camera. Seems like a good aircraft. Sounds great!
HI Steve, hey just wondering if you were going to review the FIMI Manta?
you vids are alwase asome.
I have a really good beginner suggestion for you:
HolyStone HS175
Do you have plans for the launch system? Very cool design!
The launch system is available at the link below the video
good fying, tip for launching just throw slightly above level and you will be less likely to stall on launch.
Also you arent supposed to throw them up; thatll give em a higher angle of attack
Throw it straight, give it a firm toss. Maidened mine yesterday and kept stalling when it was thrown upwards
I think I’ve done a hundred flights with no issues in hand tossing.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 oh? Are you referring to the 4s or the 3s
As far as I know the 3s is slightly underpowered
@@iammeobviously6815Both. 3S is not underpowered. It has plenty of speed & awesome sound. 4s is more powerful, & has a bit more speed.

Both the blue 3S and 4s have the same number of fan blades(12). Older 3S versions may have had only 5 blades.
Cool video nice review I like the jet
Hi Steve,i enjoyed the video, like always!
Any suggestions for helicopters 2023-24
Congrats!
So far I have reviewed all the best FUN, non professional, helicopters for 2023. I’m not sure if other new models are coming out this year.
Made me want one…

This EDF jet is very easy to fly (not at all twitchy).
Dude, you gotta do a speed test on those🤯
Can the 4S version (the only one still sold) be run on 3S?
Yes, but it won’t be the same as the 3S version.
Do you have a picture of your launcher hook up great idea
Below the video there is a LINK to the launcher. Click on it and you’ll see the setup.
I might get one
Cool one 🤝🤝
Excellent review captain drone like always, but wondering where we can get the catapult I like it can you please let us know???

Sweet
Looks like a fun jet! You must get a lot of kids at that school coming over to you to see all the neat RC things you have?? :)
Ha ha, they are so used to RC hobbiest that the kids pretty much ignore us.
I wish they would make a sub250g jet😁 that take off rig is cool 👍🏼the habu sts is a great beginner jet also this is an awesome flyer ✌🏽
@toolbaggers not necessarily I have seen a few smaller edfs that's sounded great it all depends on the size of the motor it can be done
So if it goes sideways when throwing without wind it probably to have really bad stall tendencies.
If you throw it sideways or upside down, bad things are gonna happen if you are a newbie
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Yeah but this one stalls unevenly. Seen two videos of this plane , at low speeds and high angle of attack it dips one wing and it's difficult to recover especially the starts are problematic.
can you give us a list of all used parts for the slingshot?? awesome device :D
It is called a JETAPULT and can be found with a goggle search
Captain drone, what do you think is the best beginner FPV drone to buy right now
Any FPV drone that is a RTF kit (Ready to fly kit) is what you want.
Alright thanks
Do you recommend this as a first EDF?
Certainly. By first EDF it means you have already flown gliders or prop powered planes. You would never fly an EDF as your very first plane.
Where did you get that launcher?!
It is a JETAPULT
Im getting one of these v2s, mine stalled on launch and slammed into a fence, could i use 3s 2200s with the 4s version?
Yes, but hand launch may be an issue if not tossing into the wind. With 4S, no wind required.
Can i do something for one drone?

which inexpensive transmitters could the plane go with?
Inexpensive? Probably RADIOMASTER or JUMPER
No the exact model that can go with it@@CAPTAINDRONE798
How do you hook the plane to your catapult system? I want to get a set up like this. Thanks.
You place a hook on the bottom of your plane
