So yeah I would say it’s 80% Helen, 20% lip. That’s why I stopped at S7, and accept that is the true ending of the show, he’s getting sober, he still wants to go back college, he’s finally with a REAL person who does NOT manipulate him and actually cares for him deeply and he’s finally realizing he deserves a good woman like her. So yeah to me, he gets sober, goes back to college, gets a good job, marries Sierra and that’s his REAL ending. Sorry for the rant

he was. the pressure broke him. the bleakness, in his perspective, proved as the ever prevailing. what happened with lips storyline was incredibly frustrating and heartbreaking, but it’s still one to be thanked for showing millions what happens to so many impoverished americans with bright minds. it’s not hard to meet people who seem way too smart for the lot of life you’ve found them in, and often not for lack of trying.

At the same I have other younger siblings who need support too. It’s a battle of self guilt and self motivation to stay in school because I feel as though I’m taking money when my brother and his family need and my two other younger brothers who need it also with being in school and the other starting a family. Then there is my sister who needs money to go hockey camp and training. All this shit man. It’s life which is why I love this show because it makes feel like I’m not alone

Holy hell! Every time I see this scene it breaks my heart and I tear up. Lip "Jeremy Allen White" crushed this scene. His development in the show and as an actor is amazing! The whole cast "found" their characters and it became so unbelievable. Even with the story sometimes being unbelievable they still made you care regardless of the crazy shit going in around them. Ian & Mickey's arc and Lip moving into the Fiona role when she left was a bold move but it really paid off in the end. I just really wish they'd have acknowledged Fiona in the later shows. She was THE main character the first 9 season. When Frank died he didn't even say her name as he was floating up to Heaven ( "Really? Heaven?"), how could they do that? Seriously? Did Emily Rossum piss someone off that bad?? Loved the show! Came in late and had to binge watch to get caught up but binging seems about right for this family! Well done Gallaghers!!
They didn't do Fiona dirty at all. Frank talks about every single one of his kids when he is going to heaven. They gave Fiona a very good send-off. Just because you didn't think so doesn't mean it's true. Watch the panels and hear all of the fans and actors talk about it. It's a much different experience than what you are providing. You probably got this idea because you binged watched it instead of it being a big part of your life for 12 years.

But life happened for him alternatively and he ended up on an unexpected path; he abandoned the preconceived notion that he’d be the savior of the Gallagher family. Fiona, on the other hand, spent her whole life hustling to provide for her siblings, a surrogate matriarch and martyr of sorts. In the process, she made some considerable strides (notably in Seasons 7-9). Fiona wasn’t necessarily book smart, but she pressed forward through each of her obstacles and ultimately her efforts allowed her the opportunity to leave South Side.
That's real life when you don't have financial resources to fall back on. Happened to me many many times as well. You're constantly up and down, just trying to survive the next catastrophe.
People who have never had the kind of constant struggle Lip was born into rarely have much compassion to offer people in his circumstances. Either they don't care or they just truly do not understand.

Just finished the series, like 5 mins ago… I wanna say about halfway through the series I just knew Lip was still gonna lose out in the end and it’s not just about college. In the end he ended up with Tami and while she wasn’t extremely terrible, he deserved so much better. She took FOREVER to trust him with where they live and just in general. I think Mandy Milkovich would’ve been a better match, she SAW Lip and I think Lip’s love could’ve changed her for the better. I really wanted to see Fiona and Lip kill Frank together, like ages ago. Debbie and Lip both never got the kind of love they really needed from their family. I mean, they all got jipped in the parent department, but I feel like those two were also very unseen by their siblings too. Not that the rest didn’t love them but that Lip & Deb were so busy serving others that they were starved themselves. Though Carl’s survival skills are impressive, it shouldn’t have to be that way. There’s a loneliness he would always bear simply from having to innovate so constantly. Very well written drama. Heavy duty pain fest but a lot of truth throughout.
Lip doesn't lose out. He graduated high school with a 4.6 GPA. When the baby is raised he will be fine. And he stayed with Tami because he didn't want to make the same mistakes his parents made. He was there for her and the baby. It's not about what you want after getting a girl pregnant. He took full responsibility like a real man. This is reality, not make believe. For a lot of us, this was our lives for 12 years. People that binged watched it don't get the same feels that we did.

Selling the house was only a short term solution anyway since he’d go into debt with a mortgage he couldn’t afford. At least the Gallagher house and Tami’s grandma house were paid off.
Idk a single school that doesn't take payment plans/payments. Also, if he is in foster care/was in foster care most states let those individuals go to school for free.

What irked me about the college plot was that lip got into mit but couldn’t get a full ride to a local college. If he applied for the aid, that would have solved 75% of his issues. Wish lip stayed in college or went back.

What irked me about the college plot was that lip got into mit but couldn’t get a full ride to a local college. If he applied for the aid, that would have solved 75% of his issues. Wish lip stayed in college or went back.

That's an extreme simplification of his issues. He struggles with anger and impulse control because of his neglectful childhood. They had no parenting besides what Fiona could do for them, but she was a kid herself.
