You should video's on all the "adult" characters from the show. They are so fascinating and disfunctional. Not to mention they are each phenomenal actors!
Jeremy Allen White hardly ever gets any recognition for how good he portrays lip. Easily the most underrated actor in the show and lip is too in a way, seeing as almost everyone’s mainly all for gallavich
I think his most powerful moment was when he was getting ready to pay Xan's mom the money to adopt her and Xan got excited to see her mom so he left her the money anyways. By far the most heartbreaking scene for Lip.
This act also made him look like a naive moron though, he knew she would probably just shoot all the money up her arm anyway but he left it regardless and Xan ended up with DCFS anyway in the end.
I felt horrible because she ended up abandoning Xan yet again and Xan spent her days and nights searching for her mom who never came back. Her mom probably used the money for drugs, not even for Xan. I wish he would’ve kept the money and maybe saved it in a bank account for Xan when she turns 18

I didn't realize it until just now, but what Fiona said when Lip was taking the kids with him for the night sounded EXACTLY like something Monica would say. Thinking she was capable of taking care of them when she couldn't. Forgetting dinner in the oven because she was intoxicated right after a bender. That is a complete Monica move right there.
Sadly bad role models like parents who have addiction can pass down. Its said that the kids of that have a higher chance for a addiction too. What they and them in the show are trying to do is break the cycle and not ending up like their parents and how they are.
John Connor Can’t forget the time Fiona left out a bag of cocaine which Liam digested. Lip doesn’t always make the smartest decisions but he tried his hardest to make amends nonetheless meanwhile Fiona thinks shes God.

always hated him myself tbh...started out as a douchey smartass high school kid whose only personality trait was being 'a smart kid from the ghetto'....he was always a righteous selfish asshole without any real personality which is why it fit him perfectly to end up centering his whole life around AA and becoming one of those cringy, righteous ex alcoholics(trust me I've seen a lot of them)...Frank was right when he said Lip'd become joyless..but of course what pissed me off the most was the way he treated Fiona when she was going through a rough patch...I don't like Fiona and I again agree with Frank in that she's a bad drunk but c'mon...the things she did for that family she was allowed to relax a little bit...to think how many times she'd taken care of him when he was down and couldn't help himself...to just throw her out(of her own house) was just the kind of righteous, selfish and unsympathetic act we'd come to expect from him..
As Fiona states later in the series, she was the one in charge of the squirrel fund, thus she was the one responsible in looking out for it. Like legitimately it was on her by her own admission she was the one in charge of it.
Season 1 made me love Lip so much, that throughout season two (when he was being annoying with Karen) I was just rooting for him to make the right choices. Ya I found him annoying and thought he was being irrational, but he was already such a fav of mine that I was just riding the wave and hoping he'd wake the fuck up. Honestly thought the writers did such a great job with him, the way he grew and developed made the audience so proud of him.

The saddest Lip moment, by far, for me, is when he finds out that Karen’s baby isn’t his. Because he was so invested and there was so much build-up that, when it finally came crashing down, I actually felt sad because I wanted him to have a kid at seventeen or so years old 😂

4:24 that scene when he walks out on the street, very early in the morning, and starts crying is one of the best scenes he's ever done, truly shows how the character is feeling, really really great scene

Single best character, single best actor. you’re always begging for him to say more, but his suspenseful quietness is perfect. When he gets angry every vajn in his body pops out. When hes sad his eyes are 30 lbs of water weight. The character arc for him is genius, and the acting even more.
I absolutely love this character. He reminds me so much of my little brother that we lost to a heroin addiction. My brother was so very smart and talented, like Lip. To me, seeing Lip grow up and do well is bittersweet as I wished the same for my brother.
I get why Lip gets down on Fiona so hard. He fears her being unstable like his parents because he seen how it has effected the whole family before. He cares for her and have seen how substance dependency ruins in the family. He does it out of fear and out of love for her to not slip into the tendencies of their parents. I wish he would have had a heart-to-heart with Monica before she died so, he wouldn't still have this bit of resentment towards one of his parents. With Frank, it's a given.
I feel like it's not truly that he cares for her so much. He looks at her and sees her as duty-bound to care for the family. He sees her as the parent, because she's always kind of played that role. And when hes mad at her for fucking up it's not because he cares about her. It's because hes thinking of how it will affect him and the younger siblings. Lip has always been selfish.

He helped his professor after he crashed his car into a building not to mention at the same time helping his sponsor who had a kid and was going off the deep end. Super selfish.
I watched season 8 as I sobered up. It touched me deeply to see all these men fail and destroy their lives. I’ve been sober a year now but those first days I needed that. I love this show because it doesn’t put on kiddie gloves
It' too bad you decided to NOT show Lip actually ripping into Fiona for the #1 spot, other than yelling "He almost died"...it was a ferocious scene that looks milquetoast the way you chopped it up and presented it.
I always believed that Lip cared the most about Liam than all of them, mostly because he loves the idea of having a son. He was determined to not become the father Frank was, and so he went the extra mile with Liam
You missed a lot of scenes, when he took care of Liam, when he took care of that little girl in season 9, when he felt bad for framing Sierra's boyfriend so he got into his house to fix what he did, he tried his best to fight for Mandy even though he didnt love her like that, or when he peed on frank as a sign of forgiveness (was so cool) many more, he's genuinely the most caring Gallagher, the rest of the Gallaghers are busy with their own lives whereas he puts the family number one above anything else he's going through, yeah he might have not been good at relationships but he truly loved Karen and didn't know how to show it, Jeremy Allen White is brilliant and so underrated, he added so much depth in Lipp that other actors in the show couldn't pull off.
When he said, "The first rule you learn in this house, YOU HIDE THE GODDAMN MONEY!" I got chills. Still do every time I watch that scene. This guy is super talented and I hope he finds equal success with other characters.
Lip tried to do so much for almost every person he knew. From his family to Karen, Sierra, Youens, Brad etc. So frustrating & depressing he didn't get that in return at the end.
I never really liked Lip. But I never really got the hate people had for him. He is actually a good guy at heart. And another thing I realized is that alot of people hate Lip based on the shameless clips. They find him hypocritical and mean to Fiona, Ian and Liam. But they have never actually seen the show. There are alot of touching moments between Lip and Fiona, that you will only see if you actually whatch the show. And Lip sometimes yells and is hard on Fiona not because he hates her but because he loves and he wants her and her to do better. To get better. Because Lip knows first hand drinking only adds problems not solve them. He wants Fiona to know her bad choices don't only negatively effect her but the whole family. They mistake his tough love for hate. And although Lip and Ian argue they are bros and love each other. Siblings fight it's normal. And alot of people said before Liam could adopt that girl(I forgot her name) she needed to take care of Liam. But Liam always the one to step up when Fiona is down. He is genuinely a good character and person.
Would make sense with their parents and childhood they wouldn't know how to have healthy ways of communicating or expressing themselves like when they're upset since their role model parents weren't on it with them.
Always pisses me off seeing ppl say Fiona was treated poorly. Lip had so much stuff happen to him while he was going to school trying to be something. Youens & Brad were the only ones who tried to help & he at the end had to save them. He was always the one who had to help/save ppl even tho he needed it. Never got a proper thanks or shown the love he deserved.
The acting of the character just really helps show what lip is, he’s a good kid with all the potential in the world to be great but because of the way he was raised and how he learned things he fucks it up each time, yet you can still see that he’s a smart and resilient kid, same as frank was before Monica, fortunately he never got to frank levels
My favorite Lip moment is when he tells Veronica that if she cares for Fiona, if she is really her friend, she won't let Fiona stay with her and Kevin. It was tough love, but Lip knew Fiona wouldn't get better if Veronica was enabling her.
Shelby Spradling YEEEEESSSS! So many people hated the way he treated Fiona in season 9, but she was so destructive and ran completely off the rails. The tough love that he gave her was absolutely the right thing to do.
Fiona Marcotte honestly, I think it was because she wasn’t a recovering addict when Lip was in his downward spiral. As a recovering addict, Lip has a very different perspective on how to handle people when they are spiraling out of control and being self destructive. And whether people like it or not, his method of tough love worked.
@@reblewi30 Yea well I know part of the reason he did that was because he wanted her to hit rock bottom, but it's also because he holds Fiona to a too high standards as if she doesn't have the same isssues as him. He's so entitled and is convinced that he is better than Fiona, that's why he always tells her he's the one that's gonna get them out of the ghetto and that's why he was so mad and jealous when she got like 70k$ from the laudry place. Honestly I love him, but he's a dick and doesn't know how to treat women at all which is a product of his environement.
#1 was my favorite scene of the whole show, it was the first time we saw the kids start following in Frank and Monica’s self-destructive tendencies and he was the first one to be consciously aware of the dangers of walking the same path
I love the handsome, talented and interesting Jeremy Allen White, he is a very good actor, he did excellent work as Philip "Lip" Gallagher on Shameless on Showtime, he is a grossly underrated actor, he is so good at drama and comedy, he is the best.
I think they should've talked about how Youens stole Lip's ideas/theories on "Complex Wave Functions" or something like that, and that he only gave Lip credit as a research assistant. This kinda led to their falling out, in addition to the fact that Youens convinced Lip to drink more following his break-up w/ Helene, leading to his alcohol problems which fueled his anger, and sense of betrayal which led to him smashing Younes car and getting expelled. Despite this they made up and Younes even payed for Lip's rehab.
Parsa Dolatabadi I hated that he left, he could’ve broke the cycle of being poor, but him dropping out was realistic. I went to college with about 10-15 friends from my high school and only about 5 of them graduated. Some had the potential to do so much and get so far in college but other factors ruined their chances, some they could control and other factors that couldn’t be controlled
Well they were trying to turn lip into the well meaning but badly executed parental figure, that Fiona was before she left, they totally fucked it up no doubt, but they had no choice cuz Emmy rossum left.

aww this video made me miss the early seasons of shameless (particularly seasons 1-3) the show went downhill after season 5. But aside from that love Jeremy, such a underrated talent

While I love Gallavich and completely adore Mickey Milkovich, Lip was always my favourite. From season 1-10 he was consistently the best character on the show. ❤️👌🏼
this kind of shows the double standard of the show. Whenever Ian wants to go to West point, everyone freaks out and is pissed but when Carl wants to go, everyone supports him and loves him. Whenever Lip goes off the rails and has drunk rages, the show tries to persuade you to feel bad for him and see the bad crap he has gone through, but yet when Fiona goes off the rails and has drunk rage moments and has completely lost it, the show makes you think she is trash and idiotic and needs to leave the house and the family.
For me S11e12 was great for Lip. He finally realised that he wasn't better than everyone else. That the only ways to get money when you are poor isn't to steal or scam. That he needed to work his minimum wage job to feed his family. The humility which he experienced in this episode is what will finally enable him to grow and do better. For me Lip's end in the story is, finally, the beginning of change. I never really saw much character growth in Lip throughout the entire show, except for getting sober and becoming a sponsor. Every step forward was followed by 2 steps back.
Even at its worst, Shameless is the best TV has as an offering. Lip has been incredible since the 1st episode. Watching and knowing he'll never get the Emmy's recognition is infuriatingly mindboggling.

I’m from Chicago and just started watching this show a few weeks ago. I am near the end of season 6, and I agree, Jeremy’s portrayal of Lip is amazing. I always wanted to see him end up with Mandy however.
Sounds dark, but I honestly thought had Jason ODd after being with Fiona it could've made that scene with Lip even more bone chilling & even more a reason for him to kick her out.
Wayne Hoxit that has a lot to do with the issues he has, which makes his character so raw. Each Gallagher has deeper issues and they all portray them really well with everyday issues

I never really liked Lip. But I never really got the hate people had for him. He is actually a good guy at heart. And another thing I realized is that alot of people hate Lip based on the shameless clips. They find him hypocritical and mean to Fiona, Ian and Liam. But they have never actually seen the show. There are alot of touching moments between Lip and Fiona, that you will only see if you actually whatch the show. And Lip sometimes yells and is hard on Fiona not because he hates her but because he loves and he wants her and her to do better. To get better. Because Lip knows first hand drinking only adds problems not solve them. He wants Fiona to know her bad choices don't only negatively effect her but the whole family. They mistake his tough love for hate. And although Lip and Ian argue they are bros and love each other. Siblings fight it's normal. And alot of people said before Liam could adopt that girl(I forgot her name) she needed to take care of Liam. But Liam always the one to step up when Fiona is down. He is genuinely a good character and person.

Always pisses me off seeing ppl say Fiona was treated poorly. Lip had so much stuff happen to him while he was going to school trying to be something. Youens & Brad were the only ones who tried to help & he at the end had to save them. He was always the one who had to help/save ppl even tho he needed it. Never got a proper thanks or shown the love he deserved.
The acting of the character just really helps show what lip is, he’s a good kid with all the potential in the world to be great but because of the way he was raised and how he learned things he fucks it up each time, yet you can still see that he’s a smart and resilient kid, same as frank was before Monica, fortunately he never got to frank levels

My favorite Lip moment is when he tells Veronica that if she cares for Fiona, if she is really her friend, she won't let Fiona stay with her and Kevin. It was tough love, but Lip knew Fiona wouldn't get better if Veronica was enabling her.
Shelby Spradling YEEEEESSSS! So many people hated the way he treated Fiona in season 9, but she was so destructive and ran completely off the rails. The tough love that he gave her was absolutely the right thing to do.

Fiona Marcotte honestly, I think it was because she wasn’t a recovering addict when Lip was in his downward spiral. As a recovering addict, Lip has a very different perspective on how to handle people when they are spiraling out of control and being self destructive. And whether people like it or not, his method of tough love worked.
@@reblewi30 Yea well I know part of the reason he did that was because he wanted her to hit rock bottom, but it's also because he holds Fiona to a too high standards as if she doesn't have the same isssues as him. He's so entitled and is convinced that he is better than Fiona, that's why he always tells her he's the one that's gonna get them out of the ghetto and that's why he was so mad and jealous when she got like 70k$ from the laudry place. Honestly I love him, but he's a dick and doesn't know how to treat women at all which is a product of his environement.

I think they should've talked about how Youens stole Lip's ideas/theories on "Complex Wave Functions" or something like that, and that he only gave Lip credit as a research assistant. This kinda led to their falling out, in addition to the fact that Youens convinced Lip to drink more following his break-up w/ Helene, leading to his alcohol problems which fueled his anger, and sense of betrayal which led to him smashing Younes car and getting expelled. Despite this they made up and Younes even payed for Lip's rehab.

I went to college with about 10-15 friends from my high school and only about 5 of them graduated. Some had the potential to do so much and get so far in college but other factors ruined their chances, some they could control and other factors that couldn’t be controlled

this kind of shows the double standard of the show. Whenever Ian wants to go to West point, everyone freaks out and is pissed but when Carl wants to go, everyone supports him and loves him.
Whenever Lip goes off the rails and has drunk rages, the show tries to persuade you to feel bad for him and see the bad crap he has gone through, but yet when Fiona goes off the rails and has drunk rage moments and has completely lost it, the show makes you think she is trash and idiotic and needs to leave the house and the family.
Cuz lips drunk rage doesn’t hurt people like fionas

For me S11e12 was great for Lip. He finally realised that he wasn't better than everyone else. That the only ways to get money when you are poor isn't to steal or scam. That he needed to work his minimum wage job to feed his family. The humility which he experienced in this episode is what will finally enable him to grow and do better. For me Lip's end in the story is, finally, the beginning of change. I never really saw much character growth in Lip throughout the entire show, except for getting sober and becoming a sponsor. Every step forward was followed by 2 steps back.

I’m from Chicago and just started watching this show a few weeks ago. I am near the end of season 6, and I agree, Jeremy’s portrayal of Lip is amazing. I always wanted to see him end up with Mandy however.
