Mine was bought in 2016 but probably manufactured sometime in 2015 (reading by the serial numbers). But then by 2020/21, its binding started peeling off by the curvature between the lower and upper bout (the side which on the player's view) spreading downwards approaching the end pin (could it be that the player's sweat dripping on an uncoated surface?), mind you that our country (in the middle of south east asia) is quite hot and humid. Taped it back to the body and still continue enjoying its service and sound. Sorry to hear about yours tho! 😥🙏
Wow that’s terrible! Bought my D Jr about five years ago. I also bought the hard shell case. Only issue I have is the action has changed slightly. I’m not a gig player. I play it at least once a week. Actually, helped my granddaughter buy one and there are no issues with hers. Will keep an eye on mine for sure!
You will probably be fine. I just have got a lemon. I am in the process now of trying to get Martin to fix it and I’m making a video … when it’s all said and done I will release the vid and we will find out how the story ends. Hopefully it doesn’t end in a campfire because this guit would not be worth the expense to fix at this point. Stay tuned and best of luck with yours.. but honestly you will prob be just fine
A couple of months unplayed stored safely in a case should not cause that kind of an issue, unless it was subject to some extreme temperature changes. I would definitely at least inquire with Martin and see what they may offer you.
I have one and it is really nice when unplugged, however, when you plug it in, the B string is way louder than the other strings and that's very annoying for an acoustic player like myself.. I bought this guitar in California, then travel to my home country (Costa Rica) and I want to sell it for because I have no use for it since my main guitar is a Godin which is another extremely delicate guitar.. I'm thinking of selling both and then get a Cordoba Stage and a Taylor but making sure it sounds good plugged in. Good luck to you sir, hope you find a solution to your situation!
I’ve never seen weird damage like that on an acoustic. Martin should replace the instrument or at the very least give you a killer discount on a brand new replacement! Btw….Just discovered your channel this morning. I’ve been binge watching you all day. Lol! Love your channel and content! 😎👍🎸
It was humidified. I have owned 7-8 martins as well as at least that many Taylor’s and Gibson over the course of 40 years playing. This is the only one that fell apart. But if your 3 martins are fine then it must be my fault. 🤦
@@FrankPersico Dont get me wrong from the Cracks 1)Sound hole separation and 2) Crack at the back it looks like it has fallen headstock down and cracked. I do my own repairs and that is fixable.
@@RahulSharma_JaiMataDi There is an update coming to this video. i just didnt get a chance to video it yet. i have since taken the guitar to one of martins "certified repair locations" here at a music store in the city as per martins instructions on how to proceed with my lifetime warrantee. the tech said he has never seen anything like it. He called martin with me there. Told them it needed a complete neck reset which of course does not pay to do on a 500$ guitar. Martin said they would not cover as a factory defect they would give me 100$ toward the 1k repair... lol.. they know i have numerous guitars and have been a customer for years. (not to mention the TY channel which is neither here nor there). I am really turned off by them. Guitar has never fallen... its just coming apart. its even worse now!!.. lol.. any way all the best. and great for you that you can fix your own! cheers
@@FrankPersico I’ve been a guitar player for a long time and one thing I do is never leave a guitar tuned to pitch if I don’t plan on playing it for awhile. You may think it’s weird but I’ve seen many guitars that were left in a case, tuned to pitch, and put under the bed for a length of time and they look just like this. The guitar shouldn’t do it , but sometimes they do. And it doesn’t matter who makes it.

Interesting to hear about your experience. The crack wouldn’t bother me so much if it wasn’t so unpredictable and unplayable at times.

I agree. There was no extreme change in temp. It was in a room with all of my other guitars in my house. And the room was properly humidified !!

Hey thanks for sharing your experience with the rest of us. All the best to you!
Excellent honest post! Thankyou! 👍
My pleasure!

I’m gonna give them a call one of these days and try to get them to make good. Glad you are enjoying the channel I really appreciate it.
I just found a crack in back of my JR Mahogany
I’m sorry to hear. I would call Martin and not wait like I did. Now the back is starting to pull away from bracing! Going to do another vid on this
If you don’t maintain humidity and blame it on Martin …. I have 3 Martins and never had any issues

@@FrankPersico don’t totally loosen the strings just tune it down a few steps. Guess I should’ve said that.
