@autistic Hockeyguy 26% of immigrants are economic immigrants. We take in more refugees than the States. I work with someone who's going through the immigration process, it is not hard lol it does take time though and definitely doesn't cost hundreds of thousands.

Don cherry came out later and said that he used the phrase "you people" to describe everybody In the country. Not just immigrants. He has used the term "you people" many times before to talk about big groups of people. The people who came after him for his comments were not coming after him because what he said was bad, but because they want him gone irregardless most likely due to his past political standpoints.
@evan truiyen that there are many ways to interpret the use of saying "you people," and the one everyone is assuming that he was referring to immigrants even though he has used it to describe pretty much anyone in the past, and even stated that he was not intending to refer to immigrants specifically.
They hired him for his opinions about hockey and also about other various topics. He has no reason to apologize, because what he intended to say was nothing close to offensive. But no one will hear him out when he explains himself, which he has.
