Join me as I get my home decorated for Christmas...at least the areas that I decorate. I don't do as much as I once did. It's just too much to put it all out, take it all down, pack it all up, and then store it away. What are you doing? Are you doing less this year? Or are you going all out? I'd really like to know. Oh...and don't just watch me decorate. Work right along with me. We can all get some work done! Tell me if you just watch or get some work done while watching and listening.
I started getting rid of a lot of decorating items over the last few years. Each year, a bit more goes. This year, very hard. I unexpectedly lost 2 brothers this year, the second on December 11th. My husband decorated the living room tree, and I'm in the middle of decorating the family room tree. This year, just enough for the house to feel joyous, but much not leaving boxes. Some family will be joining us for dinner as we all are grateful for memories, but, sadly, grieving. I pray for those having this sort of Christmas, missing those who no longer will be around the table. Thank you for lovely videos that are so peaceful. Merry Christmas
Somewhere along the way I stopped decorating. This year I put out: “ el nacimiento” ( birth of Jesus), and a bowl of clementines. I appreciate other people’s decorations, I also love the specialty baking and the Christmas trees. 🌟
I have a teenager so I have to decorate, keep the excitement and innocence going and I love it bc he loves it, but I use to decorate the entire home. Not anymore. Found out I had mice one year in my basement and they got in my as bag and found some leftover missed candy canes and made a mess. A big mouse poop mess. So, I got so frustrated I threw about 3 full boxes out. I just couldn't chance it. I wish I had not, but I was so frustrated. Now, I put out a gorgeous reef from my dad, a tree with some ornaments, and big bows scattered around the great and family rooms. My son was happy, that's all I really care about ❤❤
He’s a wild cat and he’s just decided to live here. Well, I’m beginning to wonder how wild he really is. He wants to climb on my lap and snuggle. I wonder if he lived with a family and they just turned him out. He’s a sweet kitty. Likes to tumble and play. He’s certainly won my heart. Hubby is slowly melting but he’s allergic so he doesn’t want the cat in the house.
I am soon 83, and I do like it more simple now as I can’t do what I used to do. Lord knows I try. I just mixed up two batches of cookies. To get baked yet. The tree is up and the nativity is out but lots is still packed away. I am content. Merry Christmas ! ❤
It’s nice to see others who appreciate a simpler Christmas too! And I year you. I’m 73 and it takes a lot to get all that decor out, up, and then have to pack it away. It’s a lot. I’m liking less but still festive.
You are sooo inspiring for any and all seasons of life and I just love watching your UA-cam. Thank You for all you bring to our tables and trusting you will have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS . 🕯️🎄🎁🙏
@ Thank you for asking and it was so nice to hear from you this morning. I had the privilege as well to spend it with all 3 of our Joys and 9 of our 12 Grand Joys . Again, I appreciate all you do to bring traditional homemaking into the homes of the next generations. You Rock 💃 HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎆🎊 🙏
You are welcome. He’s certainly been a hit with our family. It’s interesting having him around. What are your homemaking challenges? I’m working on my 2025 editorial calendar.
@@homemakingwithdenise That's very interesting---now is definitely a good time for thinking about planning scheduling and sequencing for the new year and I've been doing a lot of that lately too. I learn something new in every video and this year I learned about the longshoreman's strike and the orange shortage from watching you Denise, and being more aware in a timely way about the impact of these kinds of supply chain disruptions has helped me to become a more conscious grocery consumer. My challenge for 2025 is to continue to try to find the joy in homemaking and keeping and I think that regularly learning something new that helps me to keep up motivation and interest is how I will tackle that challenge. Thanks for all you do Denise.
Thank you so very much Denise for the ideas. I live alone. I'm retired on a fix income . Your decorations are beautiful and practical something I can afford. Enjoy this Holiday season. ❤
Thank you, Jeri. I’m at a point in my life where things must be practical and easy. At 73, it’s not quite as easy to get up and down on ladders and whatnot. The decor I’m using I’ve had for several years so not adding new pieces is helpful.
Merry Christmas to you too! Thanks for watching. That old saying less is more is pretty accurate. I enjoyed the look but there wasn’t so much that I’m overwhelmed with the thought of taking them down,
I started "Swedish Dear Cleaning " (decluttering) in 2020. I started my Christmas decor last year. I gave so much to my kids, neice and friends. I got a smaller tree and fewer items and still have every room decorated!
Your home looks beautiful! You have so many gorgeous Santas. I miss Pier 1. I can smell the cinnamon-orange potpourri through your lens, lol. My decorating this year was minimal. I think my husband may want to kill me because I had him bring all 16 totes from the storage unit. We brought an elderly relative in to live with us without much time to prepare. So, my neatly arranged Christmas closets were thrown in totes and stored in a climate-controlled unit. I wasn't happy about it, but I'll live. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year! Take care, Linda 🦋
I don't decorate like I did when my children were little, I would have 2 trees, one in family room, one in living room and many Santa's, pillows and wreaths ...I liked making it warm and cozy for family. Now kids are much older and have no grandchildren. I do still decorate a bit not as much. Like you said, it all has to come down and put away till next Christmas. Archie is adorable and best part, he loves to cuddle .
Rosemarie, he does like to cuddle! He’s such a sweetie pie. And he was a total pest when my husband tried to put the outdoor lights up. He kept pouncing on them as they trailed on the ground. Hahaha! But yes, even less decor outside. No more lights up on the roof.
I had a a cat that neighbors left behind when they moved…awful people! That little cat finally came inside my home and we loved each other so much. She would wake me in the morning to get fed and slept in my bedroom. She kept field mice out and loved just being near someone she trusted. I lost her a year ago and not a day goes by that I don’t miss her. That cat you have loves you so much! Keep him inside and that way other cats that are sick can’t get to him. He knows he has found a kind loving home! God sends little angels to us.
Nancy, he is a sweetie pie. I let him in the garage at night since the temperature often drops. But here’s the thing…my husband is allergic. He doesn’t want a cat. Hmmmm. I didn’t think I wanted a cat but now I do. I’m up first thing in the morning to feed him. He has an internal clock when it comes to feeding time. I must ad,it…he does have my heart.
I was sick most of December so I didn’t get my tree up until the 21st and kept the decor to a minimum. I think when I put it away I’ll go through the bins and do some decluttering
Hey Gail, I always enjoy it when you drop by. Thank you for being part of the community. I’m working on my 2025 content calendar. What can I make for you?
I feel the same.i use to go all out.but im 70 now so im decorating but keeping it more simple.after Christmas i will declutter what I dont use.see if my kids want anything.or it will go to goodwill..
You’re welcome! Glad you liked the video. I must admit I was able to get decorating done so much easier this year. What are your homemaking challenges?
@@homemakingwithdenise Well when it comes to the holidays putting everything away holidays are over Is one of my struggles. Sometimes it seems overwhelming. So I put it off for a while.
I hear you. We got a taller one last year but Hubby puts that up. I have to get.a ladder tp reach the top but just for a bit. As long as I can reach where I can, I'm okay. My problem is that I tire easily or my back starts bothering me and i have to sit down. I'm slower and apparently shorter. Hahaha!
@@homemakingwithdenise I also have developed bone spurs in my left heel. dr said no more laddered. and no family near to help. i do what i can. life is what is is. i have kepts my favorites 🤗🤗🎅🎅🤶🤶🎄🎄i keep the smaller things. :) Have a Blessed Christmas
Hi ! That small photo that is below the one of the girl with the blue background…. Is that a wedding photo of you? It’s a profile photo all dressed in white. It looks so beautiful!
I likely will just do an unbreakable nativity scene. Daniel likes to take apart decorate and break breakable objects. Plus he tries to knock down Christmas trees.
