That's so clunky and slow though... scroll along, go to top window, click dropdown, select mouth, repeat 1000x

You're probably right that there's nothing better fully in AE. I'm looking at Rhubarb with OpenToonz to get the mouth shapes, then reimport into After Effects to finish up. I wish there was an easier way, but it should automate a lot of that busy work.
