TIP: instead of building up your neoprene with double sided tape, you can use spray adhesive like 3M Super 77 and similar. It's much more economical, good double-sided tape is expensive. But I love so much that you told me how to build it instead of telling me where to buy it. SUPER AWESEOME.
I followed your suggestion and added similar padding to my gotway tesla. It worked so well! I don't use it for jumping but I now have much better gripping and control. It really makes a big difference. I will now do the same to my KS18XL, and eventually all my other wheels. Thanks a million! 👍
Great Jump Kuji. I have done it and will test it tonight with my KS18L. I used additional experiment by drilling a hole to the cover to make it tight and firmed grip on my foot.
Great Video. U can easily use the 3cm thick EVA foam that came with heavy duty adhesive tape on the back. U can easily put 2 together. It looks much better than putting 4 sheets together.
What I love with this way of padding is the freedom of movement for the legs. I can fully bend the knees and lower my CoG without the pads getting in the way.
Okay was just having a debate with a buddy why I’m ditching the onewheel, and this add on gear and your info has been extremely helpful. Definitely will be trading my one whee XR for this asap
love your videos! but I am always worried that repeat jumping weaken the axle, you ride your wheels really hard, have you ever damage the axle or the motor housing because of jumping?
Hey Hsiang, love your videos too! I've never busted an axle [yet], but I've broken pedals/frames, blown mosfets, and dented rims. Though wheels are getting more and more robust.
I’m an experienced rider also buy was wondering how you managed to jump without having your feet locked in. Now I know that you have additional lower padding 🙂 🇬🇧
Any issue with using 1/2" neoprene foam instead? Would potentially mean a cleaner look and less taping. Only downside would be you couldn't cover it with one big piece at the end.
You can wedge a metal shim between the L bracket at the pedal to angle up the pedals

I subscribed to your channel. I think you have some excellent videos, with a lot of discreet courage. In this there are very good jumps, but above all, a really impressive one in the 0:17 time, one that you do not even care about. Very good, thanks for sharing. Awesome
Hi Kuji, really like this video back when you release it and I guess this is the source of inspiration of the new wave of so-called "power pads". However, these ain't custom fit and many comments are raising regarding how they help acceleration and brake, but also how they are in way of our knees when the wheel bounces back when hitting road holes/imperfection. Do you have any views on these "p-pads" ?
I'd first try two of those almost round mousepads with the gel wrist rest slapped on both sides 🤔 Don't know if it would work, but it would be pretty easy and cheap to try :D And if the gel stuff would seem good, maybe even those keyboard wide wrist rests could be utilized 🤔
Nice one, thanks! i have a crazy idea for you... using EUC's as a central power unit in a modular survival system to power things like grappling hooks, lower people from buildings and power defibrillators..
awesome! thks for sharing. this is an essential skill, imo. if i knew how to jump, i could have avoided being injured by rolling into a trolley train track next to our bike path. i know to jump now. won't happen again!
Hello there. Big fan. Watched your latest video. On my way to home Depot get the supplies. I want to ask only been riding a month now. I feel more confident want to speed up. When I speed up I get this wobble so I try to speed more to get rid of the wobble but it gets worse. Feel like i might fall off so I slow down. Would you know why this wobble happens. M aybe I just need more time on the wheel. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks alot. Steve from massachusetts east coast.
yeah first try. I had to do a little loop around first just to make sure that i was prepared mentally to do it. You think im the king just because i have better padding than everyone else. Soon, i suspect, many other good riders will come out.
Hey! I'm a newbie rider with 2 weeks of experience and inmotion v5f. So no jumping or whatsoever at this point, but. The wheel feels wobbly and not stable cause i can't kinda "grab" it with my legs. Would this pads help me or should i learn to ride without em for some time?
I tried this with not so good results. I used neoprene foam 3/8" (1/8 thicker), chamfered it about 45°, took it out on the trail, and the pads tore in a few spots ON DAY ONE. Jumps eat away at it, and it cannot survive even a low-speed tip over. Are your EUCs able to take small falls on the neoprene without immediate visible damage?
when that happens and you're very close, best way to escape to sidewalk is on foot with the unicycle in hand :D I saw a biker getting crushed under a truck trying tricks he thought he was good at to escape a similar situation
Awesome jump wow, yeah u a little crazy! I had all but given up trying to jump curbs on the mcm5, it never worked out well. you've given me hope, Kuji pads it is. Would like to know your thoughts on the KS16x vs MSX as an all-rounder.
MSX is a great wheel, but its not the most portable/convenient wheel out there. I only have a preproduction 16X so im holding my opinion until i test out the big changes they are making.
Where in China are you at, man? I'm in Xi'an, and just got my first EUC, a Gotway RS HT. Loving it so far. Going to try and build some Kuji pads later today!
I am also wondering this. Did you try it? Maybe I just received junk, but I used 3/8" neoprene foam and they tore on the first ride. I'm thinking maybe thinner is better because the double-sided tape layers also add tear resistance?
@@KujiRolls i'm trying the tubeless and airless tires for EUC... design is alright manufacturing process is killing me... another question: snow tire? adjustable seating for V10F with the current handle design was on my mind... can i remove and plug my v10 battery into the v8 shell ?
Kuji Rolls if you haven’t already done so, is there a way for you to patent and license the design to the manufacturers since they (should) know who you are? Maybe as an optional upgrade for the customers when ordering?
Hi Kuji, thank you for this nice and useful video. I would like to have your opinion on my trouble. I’ve bought KS14 D 3 months ago. At the beginning it was ok. About a month ago it began to creak. Sometimes very loudly, sometimes just a little. Now it makes a knock sound when I ride it, not always the same. Sometimes is very loud, and sometimes so quiet that you nearly don’t hear it. I don’t feel to disassemble the wheel as I have no practice. What do you think about it ? Did it happen also to you with some Kingsong wheel ? Thank you. I’m looking forward to your answer so much !
Kuji Rolls Thank you very much for your quick answer. Yesterday when I was riding the sound has gone ! And the wheel works perfectly. So I thought that perhaps something like a little stone or some piece of the dry leave has entered inside and than went away with the kilometers. Do you think it can be possible?
Hi Kuji I've a 18XL and I've just installed your Kuji pad like the V10F but the wheel still seems too heavy to lift off by the ankle (I can only get a tiny lift). How should I modified my pads that you would best suggest for a greater grip for jumping? Thanks
Three suggestions: 1. Remove any rubber on your pedals if you have any. 2. Replace the grip tape to "vicious" brand. Its much better. 3. Bend your knees, wiggle your heels in as close as you can to the frame so that when you straighten your legs, your ankle bumps press hard against the frame without having to squeeze your knees in. Then attempt to jump.

Why you use neoprene foam 1/4″ instead of EPMD 1″ ?
Do You know that cyclists mount their feet on pedals using a special clip-in/step-in clipless pedals and cycling shoes with a cleat? In cycling this is usually used for efficient power transfer. But it is also good for safety and more relaxed feet position, thanks to reduced risk of loosing the pedals e.g. in downhill racing. Do You think something like that might eventually arrive in EUCs? Similarly to reduce risk of loosing the wheel in wobbling and making jumps easier without padding the EUC body.
I tried to jump on flat pavement 2 days before I got official Inmotion powerpads. I was going like 7mph on my V10, and I didn't land correctly. Idk if it's cuz my feet moved on the pedals, but I skinned my knee and haven't tried to jump since. I've been riding for about 10 months, and I want to be able to go on and off curbs, but I am afraid to just do it. Anybody have words of advice?
Brother I love your Videos. They are very helpful. But you seem like a menace in the streets to pedestrians. It only takes a split second for a human being that’s walking, especially a child to instantly switch directions 90° or 180°. If you hit them going 15 mph you’re going to hurt them very badly. Anyway I’m definitely going to try this idea with the pads around the ankles. It’s actually brilliant. Thanks
It's a genuine concern. I always ride at walking speeds or less in thickly crowded streets and I never closely cross pedestrians while riding faster. The nimbleness of an EUC though is lost on someone who has never tried it, or is just getting started, so it looks scarier than it actually is even when one rides safely.
Plus you have to remember where he is. Hes in China. People get around differently there. Look at his video when hes travelling. Pedestrians are used to all sorts of craziness on the sidewalks and streets there. You really cant look at it from the perspective of riding say in America or Canada. And even out here, depending on the city, you need to ride differently. So theres that.
Likewise with bikes, too. I always ride in bike lanes where available. Typically in cities there are bikers and scooters about, the same problem exists. Unicycles are sinilar, except at least in my experiences I have had much less near accidents due to being able to turn and stop faster and (worst case scenario) “throw it away”, jumping off and kicking it to the side.
I'm a big guy, 290 pounds. I'm looking at the King Song 18XL as my first EUC. I'm wanting to use one for going distances, not just short trips around the block. What are your thoughts? Any suggestions on which wheel I should go with?
I'd say the MSX because its the most powerful wheel out there right now. The 18XL can probably handle you too, but i think you'd probably get a little more buffer with the MSX. Also wear protection. Big people have big falls.
I'm a total noob as well, but I've done a lot of research over the past couple weeks. I think you're on the right track. At your size either the KS-18XL or the Gotway MSX would fit you perfectly. The new KS-16X is another option, but they're only available on pre-order. If you want to go REALLY big and really far, there's also the Gotway Monster, but I doubt a 22" wheel would be ideal to learn on. Personally, I selected the 18XL as my first wheel as I don't have the patience to wait for the 16X. The 18XL seems to be the most well rounded of all the wheels in it's class. The MSX is a bit faster and is a straight up beast off-road. But the 18XL has a more creature comforts and features. You can also get a protective cover for it from eWheels or Roll-NZ. According to Marty Bake's tests (ElectricUnicycles Channel), it has better range as well. Check out Kuji's comparison of the two as well as ElectricUnicycles and SpeedyFeetUK.
TIP: instead of building up your neoprene with double sided tape, you can use spray adhesive like 3M Super 77 and similar. It's much more economical, good double-sided tape is expensive. But I love so much that you told me how to build it instead of telling me where to buy it. SUPER AWESEOME.
