    The inside of those three ways can affect the system depending on the mode - gotta check everything that can affect the three way reversing valve. They can be tough to figure out, those seals can affect the system bigtime. Great video in general.

    Great find! I think someone should really tell an engineer to angle the 2 outer pipes away from the center pipe, so that we can get better access to braising those fittings during installation of the new one!
    Thanks for this one. I'll look out for this. Especially since we primarily install Lennox & Trane.

      @@adamspears3819 it seems like engineers build units purely to screw with the techs that work on them. They dont give a damn lol. If anything they think it's funny to do stuff like put screws in places you can't reach

    Heres a tip: tap the reversing valve lightly with a hammer til it gets to what you want.
    Just like your old starter on your cars or work vans when you tap it and it works there goes to your indication.
    You could also fix it by tapping it on a new one.. sometimes you gotta have faith .cause in the automotive world mechanics say this and that could not work then you do it and it works!

    Holy crap I think I've got the exact same issue going on at one of my customers house. Found bad compressor, changed it. The way it acted seemed very odd. I've been leaning towards the reversing valve but it also seemed as it the compressor wasn't pumping right so I ordered a new compressor under warranty and new reversing valve just to get it all done at one time. My company does a lot of home warranty, it sucks but man our company have really thrived over the years because of it.

    Doing this at work tomorrow, I was trying everything in mind to not lead me here but symptoms are hard to ignore , that hot gas bleeding into my suction side giving me a 2 to 1 compression ratio on a scroll , doesn’t help it’s 2000 degrees in Southern AZ

    At my job we had high head pressure and low low side pressure. Had a horrible ac company come out and claimed the liquid line dryer was clogged replaced it. $1200 charge. Well the same shit started happening within a week and the evaporator was hissing except this time instead of freezeing at the lower portion of the evap it was heating on the lower end with the same head pressures. After seeing the repairs these idiots did on other ac systems, Like electrical taping caps hanging under the condensor fans exposed to the elements I said the hell with that. So I smacked the reversing valve with a rubber mallet and WOW the damn thing started working. I learned that cause about 25% of our amana PTACS do the same damn thing. Heat when they are supposed to cool. Just smack the damn valve once.

    Have you had one build up pressure on the high and low side then make a hissing sound but not shut off the compressor? Head pressure will get up to 450 suction gets to 275-280 the it "pops" off and the pressure goes back to normal.

    • @rickpazmino5820
      @rickpazmino5820  6 років тому +2

      Yes. Not necessarily due to a reversing valve issue exclusively, but any kind of head pressure problem. Some compressors have internal high pressure reliefs that cause head pressure to bypass internally (possibly causing the housing noise) to the compressor if there is a high pressure condition. A hot system, compressor, low capacity operation, and your previously mentioned pressures, may be signs of this. Just a guess, but a blocked reversing valve could indeed cause this.

      Thank you guys I’m having this problem on a brand new Lennox heat pump I installed. I ran the unit added a pound for line set length unit ran for thirty minutes perfectly. Customer says she cut it off it would cut off I was thinking reversing valve cause I kept hearing it move or attempt to move but I’m my pressures would go to almost 600 and cut off on high head pressure can’t be a bad compressor right has to be the reversing valve? Help me please? I didn’t not amp out the compressor it only runs for a short period and I don’t want damage anything at 600 psi. I was going evacuate and weigh charge back in. Any other suggestion

  • @salmonfreak

    This might be my problem....I have a 15 year old york R-22 outside unit which heats but will not cool. When I program in cooling mode everything appears to be working ie. outside fan works, I hear the condenser, inside fan is blowing air, air filter and coil are clean but it does not cool and I don't see and water condensing on the inside drain. Earlier this year I had the refrigerant checked and it was low. We pressurized the system looking for leaks but there was none found it held 350 PSI for 30 mins. The tech though it might have been the gauge valve since when he opened the cap he heard a it of gas escape. So we added refrigerant to the level required 5 lb 11 ozs. After this the heating worked fine compared to before when it was going constantly with little heat. Fast forward a few months now I want to cool and it does not work but heating does. Cooling didn't work last summer either but I figured adding refrigerant would fix the no cooling problem this year which turned out to be wrong. In cooling none of the lines feel cool but in heating the large line gets very hot to the touch.
    What would you suggest to check now or is it most likely the reversing valve? Great video thanks!
