Jeff, I've battled Plantar Fasciitis for 3+ years. I followed your protocol for the last 12 days and ran yesterday the most I've done in years. 0 pain today. You're the best.
Did you find your calves or your hips were the main problem? I’ve done a ton of calf stretching and they’re pretty loose but I haven’t tried the hip exercises.
@ZachCresswell Both honestly. I've tried calf stretching before, but adding the step over angle to it made a big difference. I definitely drop one of my hips in a sort of limp when walking, the exercise he shows has been helping with that. I've been doing the stretches 3x a day and the hip PT at least once

Hi Jeff. I just did a couple of minutes of stretching the calf muscles as per your demo… …no bs, I felt immediate relief! No, the pain in my heal had not disappeared completely (yet), there was enough relief for me to walk around “normally”. I’ll continue the stretches throughout the day. I am very grateful. thanks Jeff, Athlean-X
After a year of foot pain and countless videos watched, this one may have done the trick. In addition to the stretches I began walking with a sense of feeling contact with the ground with the outside of the foot first, and also feeling like my toes are pointing somewhat inward (though in actuality they aren't), engaging the ankle more, and haven't had any foot pain for the past few days despite walking several thousand steps per day. Thank you!

I injured my knee jogging and hiking about 20 years ago, and it hasn't been the same since. I still like to do a lot of walking and less hard-core hikes but about 4 years ago I started getting Plantar fasciitis on the foot of my good leg and that in turn caused both my knees to flare up as I tried to compensate for the foot pain. I've described this weird sensation of forgetting how to walk without hurting myself to my physio, but I don't think she understood. This guy has described the issue very well. I suspected that hip and heal position were both contributing to the problem. I'll try this out. If it works, I'll post in 12 months if I remember to do so.
This video came out right on time. As a correctional officer I walk on all sorts of surfaces. Concrete, gravel, grass etc. this a great reminder of how important it is to stretch especially with a duty belt on with about at least 5 pounds or more weighing on my hips at least 5 days for long hours. Thank you.

I’ve passed this video on to someone I know is struggling with this issue. That these are straightforward stretches is a big bonus will report back in a few weeks on their effectiveness.
It turned out for me that is was arthritis in my foot and heal that were the root source of my pain. The addition of DISH disease was a major problem. Thankfully after years of stretching I got rid of the fasciitis. Now, I'm left with the arthritis. Thank you for all your sound advice and teaching.

I have been browsing for helpful tips on how to treat plantar fasciitis and for information to explain the cause and haven’t had any luck until now. This video is very helpful and I will get onto stretching. Thank you so much.
Wow! That's by far the best and most logical explanation for plantar fasciitis I have ever seen! Thank you so much. I knew I needed to stretch my calves but I did it wrong the whole time cause my heel was tilting inwards.

@@neilm1064 instant relief after the first session. My pain level decreased significantly. If you consistently do his program for several days, you should get rid of most of the PF pain, but it is dependent on the severity of your PF. Avoid the mistake of restarting any running or jumping exercises after you relieve your PF. You need time to fully heal the PF and strengthening the foot and glue medius.
Jeff, great advice as usual. I wore orthotics for 50years, 7 years ago decide to go barefoot walking. This requires a ton of foot exercises. A tool I found very useful for strengthening and stretching many parts of the foot especially the heel is the Blackboard from Germany. It helps people be aware of their foot posture and its ranges of motion, plus can mobilize the heel in challenging balance exercises.
I wish I knew as a kid I was walking wrong.....I know people told me but I didn't really get it. Now I'm in a TON of pain all the time and it just started two months ago. So super excited to use these techniques to fix my walking and heal my pain. Thank you!
Jeff you were my first resource when I started working out almost 10 years ago. I also started my career in the health and fitness industry because of you and I'm always amazed about how much I still learn from you. Thank you!
Hi Jeff, been struggling with plantar fasciitis for about 3 years now. I'm not overweight and have played sports all my life. What you say is true, everything is a chain: at first I had very bad back pain, then plantar fasciitis. And through a lot of research been slowly figured my way back. Turns out I had chronic plantar fasciitis developed over too much exercise and no stretching. I will definitely apply these new exercises to my routine and will let you know if they helped. Thank you very much!
This makes so much sense. I have been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot forever, and recently I started experiencing right hip pain and soreness below the left ankle. My hips definitely drop when I walk. Time for some PT. Thanks!
Im definitely going to start doing these exercises. I’ve had pain in my heal for over two years and didn’t get much help from my physiotherapist. Thank you!!!
I've tried stretching but it didn't really help much until I started doing weighted calf raises twice a week and that worked like magic. So don't miss leg days and train your calves regularly.
Jeff, I’ve been watching you for years and years but this one could not have come at the most perfect time. Been dealing with PF for maybe 8 weeks now and I’ve been doing the rolling and stretching but now you’ve given me the tools I really needed all along. Thank you as always! #ScienceBackIntoHealth
I needed to know the why of plantar fasciitis. To understand what muscles are involved in walking, cycling, so I could heal. This video explained it. I loved seeing the skeleton of the leg and foot it helped me visualize the movement. Thank you. Hope like many to strengthen my muscles so I'm free of pain.
Thank you for this video! It’s taken me almost 8 months to recover from this and every weakness described in this video is definitely the cause (especially the weak calves and glutes/hips part). AX Jacked was my goto program cause cardio wasn’t happening due to foot pain.
Hi Jeff, I just wanted to say that you’re truly awesome and incredibly professional as both a trainer and physical therapist. I had been dealing with lower back pain for a while, and multiple doctors told me it was an issue with my discs. Then I came across your videos, mainly for training, but I happened to watch your video on lower back pain and decided to give it a try. And wow, you solved it! It turns out that the gun I was carrying every day in a concealed holster was pressing against my glute muscles, causing the pain. Thanks to your video and the valuable knowledge you share on UA-cam, I finally found relief. Thank you so much, Jeff. You’re amazing!
Concealed carry is the worse. Especially when sitting. Hip is going to be the best for comfort I have found. But, then again all our bodies are built different as is the gun we carry.
O damn I've been rolling my foot on one of those special balls... I've suffered with PF for close to six months now, but then here you come with this new video. Thanks Jeff!
crazy i been going through this for 6 months i think its my construction boots and just not using my feet as much excited to watch this video from the guy whos helped me address so much issues and function better
I can't wait to try this! I have suffered with plantar fasciitis, Achilles pain, and extremely tight calves for several years. The stretches that the foot specialist gives out are worthless. Thanks so much for this video. ❤
Fellow PT here. Great exercises. I will humbly add that the posterior capsule of the ankle needs to be mobilized otherwise you are going to limit overall improvements and prolong the rehab. This dx should only be 2-4 week rehab. Use a belt put in on your ankle with the other end on something stable. Get some tension in the belt and do the same movements and stretches. This will greatly improve the effectiveness.
Can you share a search term that might yield a video of the exercises. My physical intelligence isn’t great I’m looking for more videos with more details on how to do these exercises correctly. Thanks for your input👍
As a sufferer of heel pain for years i feel this vid does make a lot of sence. The internet is full of condradicting advice, believe me I have spoken to surgeons , physios and podiatrists and have peformed all manner of different types of exercises with military dicipline. So in desperation the other day i strapped a 5kg soft weight high up on the back of my calf. I stayed in all weekend and whilst clumbersome i wore it performing usual household and yard tasks. When walking i took longer than usual steps and really felt my calf engaging. My heel pain has pretty much gone now and for the first time in 4 years. I now only wear the weight for a couple of hours each night and hope to slowley taper off to nothing . I only found this vid after my improvment but have incorporated some of its advice. I have no medical training but this somewhat crazy method helped me to recover and now heading towards 100% pain free. YES SIR.
you are perfect dude, i had an acl injury a year ago on my left knee and didnt do rehab exercises well and guess what , now i have plantar facitis on my righ foot , i will do the exercises as you mentioned
Excellent explanation!! I have been a high level athlete my entire life and Plantar Fasciitis will shut you down!! At the end of the day, most problems are solved and, more importantly, PREVENTED, with proper and CONSISTENT holistic body stretching. No matter what sport you engage in, stretching not only prevents injury, but enhances your ability to perform and gain strength. Your muscles are like rubber bands. The more elastic, the faster you run and higher you jump!! The quicker reflexes!! It is all connected. Stretching is the most overlooked part of athletics and it makes me so aggravated when coaches and athletes do not give it proper attention and time. You see many athletes simply going through the motions and not truly stretching. They are only hurting themselves and potentially their team because they don't perform as they could or injure themselves and are now unable to contribute their needed talents and skills.

I just did this, and I can already feel the difference! You are truly the best Dr. PT. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and years of dedication to teach us how to take care of our bodies.
I’ve passed this video on to someone I know is struggling with this issue.
That these are straightforward stretches is a big bonus will report back in a few weeks on their effectiveness.
Update
I have been watching these videos for 7 years now and it has been so long since I first watched your video!!
It turned out for me that is was arthritis in my foot and heal that were the root source of my pain. The addition of DISH disease was a major problem. Thankfully after years of stretching I got rid of the fasciitis. Now, I'm left with the arthritis. Thank you for all your sound advice and teaching.
I have psoriasis arthritis and plantar fasciitis is it possible to get rid of plantar fasciitis with arthritis?
@@nathanieltyghe4526got rid of my psoriasis arthritis with diet (symptoms return for me when consuming dairy, sugar. On a very low carb diet, well worth it ,free of pain and terrible skin issues. And this gift of a man excercise for fasciitis, fixes the foot. In my 70s, no medications, gardening big time ,tramping, with a 'new' foot. Hooray!!!
Been struggling with shooting left heel pain a few weeks after a right glute injury. Last minute of the vid blew my mind, thank you for making this make sense.
I have been browsing for helpful tips on how to treat plantar fasciitis and for information to explain the cause and haven’t had any luck until now. This video is very helpful and I will get onto stretching. Thank you so much.
perfect! the amount of people expecting us to fix it with insoles is unbelievable
Good Feet store said for only $2,997 worth of insoles they could fix my plantar fasciitis. I walked out without saying a word 🤣
Man do I need this video! Been suffering for weeks
Instantly helpful. I'm guessing with this stretch incorporated into my daily routine, I'll be back on the pickleball court in no time. THANK YOU!
Wow! That's by far the best and most logical explanation for plantar fasciitis I have ever seen! Thank you so much. I knew I needed to stretch my calves but I did it wrong the whole time cause my heel was tilting inwards.
Jeff I do this first thing when I wake up laying in bed. It works.
Thanks for your help!
Plantar fasciitis is the injury I most often experience. Thanks for exploring the root cause and how to prevent it!
This is best tip for fixing Plantar Fasciitis. After performing the calf stretch and glute medius strenthening exercise, my Plantar Fasciitis pain disappeared. Thank you for this excellent video.
How long did it take for the pain to go away?
Can you all believe he gives this info out for free?
Well he gets paid a lot of money so...😂
Nothings free. This stuff is advertising.
He gives better advice than people who don't.

I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis for a while. I will definitely incorporate these exercises and let you know how they work!! Thanks
How’s it going
Actually much better, the stretches are working!
I wish I knew as a kid I was walking wrong.....I know people told me but I didn't really get it. Now I'm in a TON of pain all the time and it just started two months ago. So super excited to use these techniques to fix my walking and heal my pain. Thank you!
These stretches work amazingly well. I struggled with plantar fasciitis for years and now thanks to this video it doesn't hurt at all.
Am gonna try this! Really suffering with plantar fasciitis, stopping me from training. Thank you 🙏
As a pt student, I love this. I’m especially fond of the biomechanics break down. Thanks Jeff!
This makes so much sense. I have been dealing with Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot forever, and recently I started experiencing right hip pain and soreness below the left ankle. My hips definitely drop when I walk. Time for some PT. Thanks!
Thank you, Jeff! I’ve been doing that calf stretch for months with no improvement. This is gonna change my life.
Im definitely going to start doing these exercises. I’ve had pain in my heal for over two years and didn’t get much help from my physiotherapist. Thank you!!!
Yes, these PT videos are a nice compliment to the training and nutrition topics. Please continue these for areas like the neck and shoulder.
You’ve helped me so much throughout my journey in body building for the past 15 years. Thank you so much for the hard work
I really love your videos period. However, your videos on causes and corrective exercises are great. Thank you so much.
OMG, I felt the stretch in my calf right away!!!! Thank you!!!!!
I like never go to the Doctor anymore cuz guys like this. Thank you sir
I've tried stretching but it didn't really help much until I started doing weighted calf raises twice a week and that worked like magic. So don't miss leg days and train your calves regularly.
i have been fighting this problem for too long my peroneal muscles in my calf have been tight i think you nailed it thankyou you rock
You the man Jeff! Helping us solve huge problems in our lives with this content!
My friend just told me that he has this pain. Definitely going to share this video. Thank you!
Hey, Jeff! Your videos have fixed so many issues I used to have and this is one of them. I can’t thank you enough! You are amazing
Oh, Thank you! Just what I needed. An answer to my prayers. Thank you, Jesus.
Thank you for this video! It’s taken me almost 8 months to recover from this and every weakness described in this video is definitely the cause (especially the weak calves and glutes/hips part). AX Jacked was my goto program cause cardio wasn’t happening due to foot pain.
Wow this… actually works! I’m surprised! Thank youuuuuu 😭😭
It is because of advice like this, i have been following for years. Thank You.
Hi Jeff,
I just wanted to say that you’re truly awesome and incredibly professional as both a trainer and physical therapist.
So good Jeff, appreciate your advice! My pain in my foot literally disappeared straight after the stretch and my calves were definitely tight!
love you video …my foot has been hurting for 4-5 years..these stretches help Tremendously
This swears he knows everything. It works for me.
Great info, as always.
I copied and sent this link to my mother, who’s had these issues/problems for a long time.
Thanks Jeff.
I have right hip pain and so have developed plantar fascitis on left heel , great video, thanks
I woke up this morning with a sore left heal… I will do both of the exercises. Hopefully in few days I will be feeling some improvement.
Thanks Jeff.
Just do it a bit everyday. Worked for me 3 years ago

I have been unable to run for the last three months. I will try this and will be thanking you when I am up doing long distance running again.
Thanks Jeff. I've been looking for exercises like this for my PF. I'm doing these right now at work.
Been searching for the answer for some time. After 2 days of doing this, my God it's like night and day. Thnx jeff
First time I’ve had a video I’ve been waiting for YEARS
Yes great timing Jeff. Thank you for making this video. PF is just killing me these days. Will try your stretches/exercises.
THNAK YOU! Just watched this video and did the stretches and PF is so much better! Why are other practitioners not suggestioning these stretches?
