      Not getting where you think he should be going deeper to the "touch point" with the dumbbells. You taught me that rotates the rotator cuff out of the socket to an un-natural position and then loads it with too much weight. He is kinda doing what you used to teach isn't he by not going that deep ?

    Shannon takes his meals with him cause he always says, "When you go to a restaurant or cafeterias, they cook for a group of people. In my kitchen I'm cooking just for me." He knows exactly what's in it and doesn't have to guess.

    Shannon trained at a speed and agility facility that I worked at. This was around 2004. I’ve worked out with many NFL players during my time in the field, and Shannon maybe trained the hardest. He did sprint/footwork/plyo/agility work and lifted weights, nearly every day in the off-season. I believe him when he says he is clean. He just never stopped and has a ridiculous work ethic.

    Shannon's comment about the locker room and the shared experience wasn't about enjoying the process or the grind per se. It was about going through it with other people. Jeff himself mentioned the camaraderie he felt as a trainer (23:59) for the Mets as a key factor in his being successful and enjoying the process while it was happening and not, as in this video, as somebody looking back philosophically years later.
    Get yourself a workout buddy, a workout coach, or start mentoring somebody in the gym. It will make the process SO much more rewarding and easier to be consistent with. The sum is greater than the parts when you work out with somebody who shares your goals.
    Shannon helped the Broncos win their first Super Bowl when I was 13 and living two hours from Denver. He was one of my sports gods. His biceps seemed unreal but were very motivating for an 8th grader just discovering the weight room. Thanks for this video, Jeff.

      I was in the best shape of my life when working out with the other defensive backs and track guys like myself. There were 5 or 6 of us who did both. Year round training.
      When I lost that, and life's challenges came, I veered.
      I am not disciplined enough to do all that I was doing with those guys, on my own. At least not right now. I am drawing motivation (know every workout that I need to do and have every piece of equipment I need right in my training room), just a mental hurdle I have to clear since setting up my new house earlier this year.
      Don't ever want to be as jacked as Shannon. I'm 45 and 5'10" 220 right now. Don't really need to lose anything. I carry it mostly power half and wouldn't even want to be much below my previous ideal of 217. 210 lowest. I'm not terribly off the mark, because some people would look at me and wonder what I'm complaining about.
      Those who worked out with me would wonder what happened in the last 25 years LOL

      There are certainly outliers out there, genetic freaks.
      Last week I saw a kid probably 16-17, across the street, while I was sipping on in a tea shop in Turkiye.
      The kid was about 6,2, wearing a tank top and shorts, I could tell he wasn't a gym goer, but he had muscular shoulders, calves almost to the point of someone who had been training at least 6 years natural, and his arms were as structured as many can not get in a couple of years.
      It was very obvious to me that he didn't lift, and it was the first time I saw someone with such a freaky genetic displayed through their muscular structure to the point, I thought of approaching him and sponsoring him for the rest of his life for the next 10 Mr. Olympia wins, but than I realized I am broke and will be broke. :)))

Like every drug it only does what it's medically designed to do when administered PROPERLY. Using a pain killer after say a surgery as prescribed by an moral and ethical doctor is FAR different than an addict popping percs however and whenever they feel like it leading to addiction. It's ridiculous to compare yourself to a professional athlete they have .01% genetics and it's literally their job to workout.

    I think the key take away that may not be communication enough is his level of experience and the timing factor! Most people who are reviewing him or worse questioning him can’t comprehend that this man doesn’t just have 40+ years of weightlifting and healthy eating experience… which is amazing by itself! But instead He has a life time of the highest possible, professional athlete level of experience with fitness, healthy eating and weight training! I’m 40 years old and in amazing shape! I played sports, including football growing up, then I was in the military (US Army Infantry) and I have spent the majority of my life lifting weights, training MMA and being active! Which is amazing but I still after all that don’t have this man’s level of experience and achievements in the world of fitness, weight lifting and nutrition because he is not only older than me by 15 years but he spent his entire adult life as one of the top/best NFL PLAYERS in the world! Just making it into the NFL is amazing! But this dude was one of the best of the best players and athletes for the majority of his entire adult life!!! People just can’t comprehend that level… So it’s easy to shoot your mouth off and say stupid things (AKA make wrong assumptions). To me it’s equivalent to standing face to face with a famous astronaut who has went too and even walked on the moon several times and telling him that your on his level of experience when it comes to travel and etc… Because you fly several times a week, for the last 10 years due to business travel!?!? 😂🤷🏽‍♂️🤦‍♀️💩… The difference in experience is so far that no one is capable of comparing themselves to that astronaut much less considering themselves on his same level unless they have jumped on a rocket, left our planet, landed on the moon, got out and walked around for awhile and then returned to planet earth safely!😂🤣 🤷🏽‍♂️🤦‍♀️💩

    In the late 90's and early 2000's I always spotted Shannon, Barry Bonds, and Lenny Kravitz doing low key drop in cameos at the Olympia and Iron Man expos speaking to the Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, and Chris Cormier. These guys are just dedicated and compassionate about self fitness.

    I'm 54, and have had a very similar lifestyle in terms of training and nutrition since high-school, and, big surprise, I still have a cut and jacked physique that I keep within 5 pounds throughout the year. I don't have the freaky strength or size that Shannon has, but at 6 ft and high 180s, I'm pretty strong

    It makes perfect sense that he is in this shape naturally, he worked on farms since 4 years old, lifted weights since the early 80's and hasn't stopped, it's really that simple.

    Jeff I call Big Time B.S. on those 50 and 60Kg Dumbells. 60kg is what 130lbs estimated? Have you seen how huge 130lb dumbells are? Those werent in KG's!

      @jabadoo5307 Місяць тому +6

      Completely agree. I’ve not seen 50kg be that thin, unless they’re made out of some super dense metal that no one else has.

      True! We use kgs in Europe, so I know how they look like. Also, they don’t sell kg plates to the US market, lol!

      @muccmaster Місяць тому +3

      Exactly what I posted. You'd think Jeff has been in the gym long enough to realize those are way too small to be the weights he said. Plus the guy lives in the US where 99.9% of gyms have all their weights in LB's.

      @@firsthelix6726USA Power Lifting uses kgs for body weight classes and plates.
      My gym has a set of plates that are marked in kgs. They also have the lbs equivalent marked in smaller fonts. That’s for those of us that are into power lifting.

    • @blehche6409
      @blehche6409 Місяць тому

      Bc he's much older now. Your test levels naturally drop and you could keep doing the same thing you've always done and start seeing 1/4 of the results. Exact reason I started TRT in my 40s. I was working out smarter and eating better than ever before and seeing worse results. TRT brought it back in balance.

    You and Shannon should have a bench press competition and see who can lift the most until one of your shoulders pop. that would be awesome.
