I am a first time gardener and have done so many things wrong. I love watching your videos to see what future years can be like. I’ve loved learning and just this entire process
After last years flop due to allium leaf miner I now had to deal with harvesting the smallest garlic bulbs ever. But, idc. Something is better than nothing and I’m learning from my mistakes. I’m so proud of my cute, little garlic bulbs and plan on saving the largest cloves for planting come October. 🥰
Your excitement is contagious and makes me excited to get some garlic and onions planted for next year! My wife is always burning through garlic and seeing how much you grew makes it a better deal to grow vs buy
You have me excited to grow garlic next year!!! Those heads were beautiful!!! NOW, please inform us how each tastes ..maybe roasted and raw in a dressing or something. You are amazing, and so fun to watch and learn!
I am new to your channel and finishing up watching this video. Oh wow. I fully understand this issue with too much rain, at wrong time & ruining your hard work. Hope you can find a source for more onions. You can grow green onions seeds right now. What remains in ground, they will overwinter beautifully. Gurneys seeds sells overwintering, onion sets you plant in fall. Early harvests in spring of green onions then lv some to bulb up, early summer. Is am zone 5b/6a.
I just found your channel. That was a really nice garlic harvest! Those alliums like a lot of nitrogen! I totally feel your excitement over that super harvest, gardening is such a joy!
This is my first year growing hardneck garlic. I'm ready to harvest tomorrow. Hopefully the rain will stop. We used chicken manure and I hope to get a halfway decent harvest. Your video is chockfull of information. Thank you!
Well done! Here in the UK it has been one of the worst years for growing garlic. We have had very poor weather for most of the year with a lot of rain all spring and early summer, cold nights, low light levels. We have a fungal disease called Rust that affects plant growth and this has been the worst year I have known for it.
Garlic is my joy crop and Inchelium Reds were my best producing garlic by far this year! My hardnecks were hit and miss this year so I’m so glad I found you to see what you did different.
I plant 4" down and smother with straw. I space at 7" and inter-plant all rows. I trim off the roots to minimize mold and speed up drying. This summer I haven't had to water. Last summer was too hot and stressful. Should have watered couple three times more, at least. About 2 weeks away from harvest. I only grow Music, 30 years organic when I got my first batch 4 years ago. Keeps getting better as a rule.
Well what do you say about this video of yours young lady, firstly congratulations, you have achieved what most growers of this wonderful plant aspire to. I have been a grower for 35 years, I usually harvest around a thousand bulbs a year, your harvest was exceptional, kudus to you, your enthusiasm and joy with what you have achieved was a pleasure to see, here is a tip given to me by my gardening mentor who was of Italian and Yugoslav decent, he said to me eat a raw clove of garlic every morning and you will never have a sick day in your life, you don't need to chew it just swallow it whole or cut in quarters and then swallow it , you will never have a sick day in your life, he lived to a hundred, so who am I to argue with his wisdom.
Bre, fantastic video! I have purchased my garlic from different suppliers in the past. This year, due to some family issues that didn’t allow me to plant last fall, I need to purchase again. Do you have any favorite places that you go to?
GREAT job! Did you plant the softneck at the same time as the hardneck? And what is your grow zone ? Can you give us the brand of fish/seaweed fertilizer; liquid or granular? Thanks
Great harvest! Can’t wait for your onion harvest. Great advice in your videos, thank you!! I’m growing garlic for the first time this year and I can’t wait until harvest!
This is inspiring! I’ve been gardening since 2021 in 6b. I just preordered 2lbs of garlic last week so I can finally grow a large amount for my garlic loving partner haha. I hope to have this success next year!
Thank you for sharing the name of the variety you grew!!! Cheers to your harvest. My garlic harvest was last week and it was just as exciting as yours 🎉😊
Such a fantastic harvest! Its great to see a small change produce a big result. Think I need to follow your spacing as I tend to crowd my garlic as well. Watching with interest from Oz.
I guess I need to keep watching your videos to see what I need to do to grow good garlic bulbs. I pulled a few the other day and they were puny looking and so not sure what I did wrong. First time growing them. I used cloves from the grocery store and planted them in my compost pile.
@@di4085you’d be better off growing them in a bed or planters; if a bed you can make sure there is well composted manure mixed in your soil or compost to help feed them while they grow (I amend heavily and haven’t needed extra feed for a good harvest) or in planters you will need to get a fertiliser and feed them regularly. You can get a garlic fertiliser or Bre used a fish and seaweed fertiliser for hers I believe. Spacing is important too, so remember to give them enough space between cloves to have good airflow and room to grow. Good luck growing for next year 🌱
@@sarahtrew9331 Thanks for the tips. I was growing them in the compost pile but I had them really close together. Is it okay to use grocery store garlic cloves or should I order? I actually have a fish fertilizer.
This is my second season attempting garlic. Last year I planted in the spring and the bulbs were so so tiny that I harvested. This round I planted last fall and there are still a few that look like they’ll be small, but a couple of them look like they’ll be massive! I’m so excited! I’ll definitely be taking your suggestions into consideration for next year. My only issue with spacing is that I’m really limited on space, so I try to pack everything in as tight as possible. Maybe this next planting I’ll put garlic in every bed rather than trying to just get them all into two beds.
Neptunes Harvest fish and seaweed. Its linked in my amazon store front in the description box - under garden favorites. When growth started in spring every 7-14 days
Amazing!! Did you get your garlic locally or did you buy it from a website? Also what kind of fertilizer did you use? I’d love to try it also!! Thanks for sharing 😊

Fantastic harvest! I also planted Georgian Fire and it is indeed huge! Next year I'll have to try some softneck. What size is your drying wall for that much garlic?
Awesome job with your garlic! A few things I've had luck with are digging up the heads instead of pulling them by hand. Yeah, it's fun and it makes a great noise, but I've had a lot of tears with the softneck varieties. If I damage the stem it doesn't store very long. I also take pictures of my painter's tape, because life happens and tape doesn't always stay put. Especially in my garage. :) Thanks for the great video!
Hello new subscriber here! I came from watching your shorts! I love your garden its beautiful and sustainable! Just a question your neighboors ok with your chickens?
Yay! Your garlic looks awesome! I grew it this last year for the first time and just harvested yesterday. I grew 13 heads, lol 😅 But like yours, they were huge. I was super excited that I did it!!

It must be so satisfying growing your own food, have never seen such gigantic garlic lol you should be so proud of yourself!

Your garlic excitement is infectious 😂 you should put together something that explains what you did differently that made it such a good harvest!
She did say she spaced them out more, and started fertilizing in late Feb. cause it was warmer.
