This is one of the best videos on e-bikes and production of e-bikes that I've seen in a very long time. Very comprehensive. Done in a reasonable time frame for people to watch. I was not bored! Kudos to you!!!
Kevin is absolutely fantastic, I had issues with my Revv1 and he had everything, MORE than fixed within 3 days. I was incredibly impressed and 3k miles later on my Revv, I would do It again in a heart beat. They make fantastic stuff. Kudos for showing off the new DRT model.
I used to work as an electronics technician for a major manufacturer here in the United States, and watching this video brought back memories of how important it is to build good, quality products at a reasonable price for customers. I purchased the Revv1 back in February, and just from watching this video I see why my e-bike has top notch quality. Thanks for sharing this video. 😊
I actually roped in the wife to watch this and we were amazed. The Ride1UP boss was so dedicated to creating a perfect product for the customer. Not for profits. Unheard of today. I wish good ebikes were assessible in Trinidad. Only 2nd rate ones and they're ridiculously priced. Bro! I wish you, your family and your team all the best. Love your channel because, like the Ride1UP boss, you go all out for us❤
Ride1Up is a standup company. I purchased a bike from the company that failed prematurely. The defect was the one-in-10,000 type. After going through the warranty process, the company replaced the defective bike. Both bikes were perfectly assembled. I have built bikes from scratch, but there was nothing for me to do with the Ride1Up bikes. Wheels were true and round. The spokes were properly tensioned. Brakes were expertly adjusted, no rotor rub or spongy brakes. The derailleur shifts were smooth and positive. The replacement bike has been trouble free and a joy to ride. One improvement I’d like to see is a better owner’s manual complete with a wiring schematic. I am experienced in diagnosing and repairing complex fuel injection systems. A detailed wiring diagram would be helpful if the bike fails after the warranty period. I recently ordered the company’s V3 e-bike. I am eager to put many gravel road miles on that machine. I can attest to Ride1Up’s dedication to excellent, responsive customer service.
They really put on a show for you Micah. I ended up buying a Roadster V3 in large part because of this video and their QA and quality control couldn't be further from the video. I had 3 separate issues with mine right out of the box that needed repair despite the QA tag being on it showing their inspection. Would never buy from them again, especially given how insanely bad their return policy is.
I've been very very happy with my Ride1Up 500 Series e-bike for a couple of years now. When I have had to reach out to customer support with questions along the way, they have always been extremely fast and thorough with assistance. When the day comes that I need to refresh my ride, Ride1Up will be my go-to! This video of their story and quality further reinforces my belief in the brand! Thanks very much.
I've had the roadster V2 for 2 and 1/2 years and put about 5,000 mi on it. For the $1,000 I paid for it you can't beat it for its intended purpose. Great value for the money.
Same situation as you (only 2k miles), and I just got the CF Racer1. I love the V2🎉 so much that I’m thinking about getting a second one for friends to ride with me, just because they’re on sale for $800
I just bought a Portola for my kids to join me instead of my lonely rides and I am making them watch this first to respect all the work that went into it! Hopefully that will encourage taking care of it. Great tour. I am impressed with the combination of automation and human skill. The third party inspection is really interesting strategically.
Purchased the Ride1up 700 ST bike a few weeks ago. I took my time assembling (3hrs) watching 2 assembly You Tube vids and no issues. The gear changer was slipping a bit so took it to a local retired gent who tuned it up for $30 and it rides like a dream. Up at 4:30am here in Arizona so I can ride in high 80 deg.F weather. It hit 116 deg.F today, ouch. Now looking to extend my rides past my current 15 mile tours and some off roading. Great bike for the price. Cheers
I’m currently looking at the Ride1Up Prodigy V2, this video came out right on time! Thanks for this! Yes I’ve been riding the OG 500 Series for 4 years now. Love it.
@@Electrek Probably around 10k. I ride it mostly for leisure down here in Orange County :) I think I’m going to go for the Belt CVT drive on the Prodigy V2.
That’s awesome, I love hearing about bikes that have been kept on the road for many years. That belt prodigy V2 is an awesome bike and the price they have it at is a steal. If you do get it, I hope you find a good home for the 500, though I like to have a spare bike around for friends to join on rides 😎
Great video and so nice to see an ebike company that is so attuned to quality, something that is often over looked with Chinese products. If I buy an ebike it will most likely be a Ride1up bike.
Thank you for making me feel good about my purchase lol! Got my Prodigy V2 last week and Im really happy with the product and the customer support. I was thinking of making a video showing the things i bought for it and the mods i want to do.
I just bought a Roadster V3 from them that came with leaky brakes needing repair, rattling in the downtube, and a battery that dies right after it drops to 30%. So it looks like Ride1Up learned from Boeing instead!
I bought my wife a Ride1Up ST700 about 3 years ago and it now has about 3400 miles on it and so far I haven't had any issue with it at all. When I got it new I had one question when assembling the front fork and emailed them and got a great answer in about 45 minutes. I'd highly recommend their bikes.
Ordinary cable ties can be treated as reusable. You simply have to use a strong needle or the tipm of a pointed knife to lift the rachet tooth , so you can open it without significant damage. I reuse them many times.
4:09 the controllers are potted. that's a big deal. they should mention that since some other competitors are doing this and those that don't are more prone to overheating.

Here is a bike that no one has made: A cargobike that could carry an adult passenger and has an extended range battery. Something like a front loader Urban Arrow or a long tail like a Radwagon 4, but with a huge 50v 60ah battery like an Aniioki. That would be my car replacement. Something to ride the wife around town, but not have to worry about range anxiety.
This was awesome. I traded in my lectric XP 3.0 for an Xpeak and it was a death wobbly lemon. Brought it back, and while I was not going to keep that bike, it made me realize how much I can ride anywhere but I need way more battery+speed. So I’m saving up for a wired freedom, but in the meantime I need a stopgap. Saw the cafe cruiser, it looks cool, has a passenger seat (genuinely hilarious add-on BTW; highly recommend.) And for $1299 what a steal. It is very well built. Day 2 with my Lectric Xpeak the kickstand fell completely loose. Because I’m an idiot when I got my cafe cruiser, I knocked my kickstand loose off its adjustment knob trying to lengthen it, had to take the whole thing off to avoid laying down on the ground. Lo and behold the bolt was perfectly snug how it should be, and BLUE LOCTITE? Hallelujah. Smart people at Ride1Up, they are putting $$$ where it matters. My cafe cruiser will have a place in my home for a long time even when my wired cruiser comes in. (That one is just a legit money saver to just stop driving my car as much as possible lol.)
Where is the part about the actual component manufacturing (the dirty part) and raw material strip mining? This just seems to be where the bikes are assembled.
Awesome video. Love the packaging reduction! Sure wish we'd do this here in the US. Will def consider this company when I get to a point I can't pedal on my own.
I applaud this review. The short bio of the owner explains the company's philosophy well. Thanks for another informative “behind the scenes” video. Great you could coordinate with Kevin Duggar for it! It’s encouraging to learn of their multiple inspection stages. I’ve been pretty pleased with the LMT’d I bought in late 2020, though perhaps they didn’t have the paint quality inspections in place as its matte paint is quite fragile, and thick paint on the faces of the bottom bracket caused issues with creaking when pedaling and misalignment and some damage to the ribbon cable insulation from the torque sensor. After I sanded off the paint, it aligned correctly and eliminated the creaking noise. Great that Ride1Up is trying to eliminate non-recyclable, non-biodegradable packaging, and switching to reusable nylon cable ties. I use a precision flat head screwdriver to remove them for reuse already, but it’ll be much easier and safer to not have to do that. I’ve seen at least one brand use twisted thick Kraft paper ties (I think Globe?). Would like to get a Portola to replace my Nesta, but waiting for it to get UL certification. It will make it easier when I take it to NYC and other places that are requiring UL certification.
Their bike looks good on paper and u-tube videos. But I still want to ride it before buying. Too bad they don't have test ride offering near BC, Canada.
Had a Core-5 that developed intermittent battery issues after a few thousand miles, and they replaced it with an upgraded one. I’ve since sold that and now have a Turris with 1200 mi…so far, so good. I would say quality control has improved these last few years. Good solid product at an affordable price 👍
It's good to know a company that cares about their quality. I bought an ebike from VoltBike and almost got myself killed when the bike broke into two pieces. Good job Ride1Up.
I just got my Portola and the quality is very impressive for the money is the best option right now on the market I hope this company don't change their path., and please we need 20v battery on Portola thanks and good vibes all the way.
How the hell does this guy coming from Holland not offer the new Roadster v3 in XL size wtf all dutch men are at least 6'5 and up. Otherwise this is a great product he has and I would buy the new Roadster v3 500W motor if it came in XL frame. Looks to be the best lightweight ebike commuter from what i've seen so far.
I own a 500 st and I wondered what new models they had so I went to the website last week, I was surprised to find a bike with a 36 volt system instead of 48 like mine, isn't that a downgrade?
36V isn't inferior to 48V. Both have pros and cons. They are just two different system voltages. It's easier to go higher power with higher voltage, but you usually get lighter, smaller, and less expensive batteries with 36V, which can be more appropriate when moderate power is acceptable.
I've got a Bosch battery & motor in my Trek, so I assume it has a low risk of catching fire. We do need better regulations around batteries. Also transparency about battery chemistry, particularly LFP given it has a very low risk of fire.
Great video, I already have two comparable models from a company that starts with L, (and I feel has a similar mission as Ride1Up) but if I hadn't heard about them first, after this video, I would be very tempted to get a couple of their models.
“…you probably already know about Ride1Up’s electric bikes.” I’ve not heard of them before. And I own a mid-sized bike shop that services a wide variety of e-bikes. I know they’re a DTC brand, but no customers have commented on them yet (or brought one in for service work) to the best of my knowledge. Huh.
Yes, would have been cool to see that one too, but I got there a few days after the most recent Revv1 batches were done, and the lines had been shifted over to CFRacer and Prodigy already. It seems they don't maintain separate lines for each model because it wouldn't be as efficient.
Too bad costs just went up 25% due to tariffs. This will make these less desirable and volume will go down and many companies will not make it. Get ready for a bumpy road
Tariffs are there to protect the same industry within the country the product/s are imported into. So, we import electric bikes into the US and impose a tariff to protect an electric bike industry we don’t have. You can thank Donald “shit for brains” Trump for that. 🙄😡
Wow. this video of Ebike production is exactly the opposite of what I assumed was taking place with mass produced Chinese Ebikes. Perhaps Ride 1 UP stands head and shoulders above the crowd, but nevertheless it is very impressive.
More interested in these bikes since I recently bought a Bat Safe XL box for more safely storing lithium batteries in my home. Couldn't afford the more pro $700.00+ boxes but this is better than nothing. Head of this company seems legit.

I’ve not heard of them before. And I own a mid-sized bike shop that services a wide variety of e-bikes. I know they’re a DTC brand, but no customers have commented on them yet (or brought one in for service work) to the best of my knowledge. Huh.
I was really hoping to see how the REVV1 was made and the quality control on it.
Yes, would have been cool to see that one too, but I got there a few days after the most recent Revv1 batches were done, and the lines had been shifted over to CFRacer and Prodigy already. It seems they don't maintain separate lines for each model because it wouldn't be as efficient.
man , i wish they sold the CFRacer1 here in the UK
Too bad costs just went up 25% due to tariffs. This will make these less desirable and volume will go down and many companies will not make it. Get ready for a bumpy road
Tariffs are there to protect the same industry within the country the product/s are imported into. So, we import electric bikes into the US and impose a tariff to protect an electric bike industry we don’t have. You can thank Donald “shit for brains” Trump for that. 🙄😡
@@kelalamusic9258 Great comment ..... just want the average dude to pay more ....
LOL ..... the whole world is out there ....United Snakes is NOTHING!
@@blackknight4996lol United "Snakes"
Make your bikes in the US and I'll buy one.
Too bad they do not come to your home in the same shape as they left , meaning the box is always beat up !!
Wow. this video of Ebike production is exactly the opposite of what I assumed was taking place with mass produced Chinese Ebikes. Perhaps Ride 1 UP stands head and shoulders above the crowd, but nevertheless it is very impressive.
Never heard of the brand till today.
August 2020 the month I whent car free E Bikes and bicycles are more financial free than car ownership
More interested in these bikes since I recently bought a Bat Safe XL box for more safely storing lithium batteries in my home. Couldn't afford the more pro $700.00+ boxes but this is better than nothing. Head of this company seems legit.
I was very happy with my Ride1Up bike!
In the video beginning they show riders, even children, no helmets.
You're not required to wear a helmet everywhere.
I know I was just surprised the kids weren't. I never wear a helmet, but children maybe should if they are very young?
@@Billy-cs4cc they probably should wear one. Up to the parents to enforce that.
