I take the statement (first flight} with a pinch of salt. first flights are usually very careful sedate affairs, take off climb to a safe height check controls work properly check the stall speed then land and thoughly inspect it .
Wow So Great Glad you put the longer video up here. Excellent pilot Knows what he doing. And you see how that Culver Prop just whisk him along through the sir 'with the greatest of ease'
There are some really nice kits of WWI & WWII planes out there now, with the advance in materials & electronics even the all wood & film planes have advanced and gotten lighter, making for better flying planes..the modern RC radial engines are beautiful too.. Typically the bigger the model the better it flies, as structure, hardware, & electronics "density" increases in a smaller airframe, and the surface area increases as volume decreases, so more drag, denser, less space for equipment, less stability when acting upon so little air, less power, 🤔😬Our grand /great grandparents were nearly or equally as much pioneers in flight as the folks who brought full scale to flight.. Whatever end of the spectrum of flight we are on, there is the camaraderie of family..& the miracle..the joy.. of flight.. OH, BOY ARE WE SO LUCKY! The vintage history, & modern tech!😎👍
Pretty outstanding! It would be nice to see a four blade prop on the SE5. It would also be nice if the owner lived near me in South Mo. Because I'd be thrilled just to see this flying around!
That is so awesome! It must be satisfying for Culver Props to see your hard work in the flying around on such a piece of history. Note: I think my lawnmower has more horsepower.
I am hoping that this is mis-titled. First where is the takeoff? Next: This is not how a first flight should be conducted. Or...was a lot of footage left out??? Safe flight.
@@CulverProps Bud Davison wrote an article on the new Model A available, and it got me thinking about what he suggested. A Fokker DVII or SPAD XIII flying a Model A (and scaled to match the engine but still keeping all the original lines accurate). Too many scale replicas ruin the look of these aircraft. SE5a would be another good candidate for that.
what kind of HP do those put out? The big bore vw engines with redrive are rated for 100+ where old model As are rated at less than 50 (not to mention way more than double of that of the vw engine). Where can one find said article?@@SoloRenegade

Any chance you could share your runway length? I've got 425 feet grass strip with ~50' tree line 800 feet off each threshold. Any opinions on this aircraft operating in that sort of environment? Thanks if you read this.
Everything about that is beautiful - the prop, the plane, the flight.....fun to watch. Thanks!
Beautiful coloring on the prop.
It must be exciting to watch one of your propellers leave the ground for the first time !
Yes, and I got a good report! 😁
I've flown behind Culver Props for decades. Fine product thanks!
Thank you!

Great video, gotta love that sound. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Alaina,
Glad to see another video that showcases one of your propellers in flight. Hi to Grandma and you all stay safe.
Will do lots of rain again tofay

The SE-5 is a beautiful design.
Lol at first I thought it was an RC model airplane!

@@francisconti9085 I agree, the hobby has come a long way, since I was a kid!
Balsa USA is a good supplier of RC WWI and WWII plane kits.
Always a good thing! I know it's all about science,,,,lift, drag thrust etc, but I still consider flight to be a miracle
Me too! Lol
Props to you Alania for making it possible. 👍
Awesome show case of your work
need more of this at airshows, large and local alike!
Yes, it’s flying history
@@CulverProps and the flying style, sound, and look of these sorts of aircraft is just different.
Thanks for sharing. Been waiting to see one in action.
Nice Prop, Nice Plane. Bob at Airdrome sure has some nice kits.
Looks like fun!
Thank You for posting this. Really enjoyable. You've got to be proud watching your prop in action.

Most of them are in KC, one in Bolivar
What a beautiful thing to see..she flies nice, great pilot managing energy beautifully..
It's so nice to see and hear bipes on flying !
Bravo! What a sense of pride you must feel. 🙂
Just way KOOL, beautiful plane, stunning venue, skilled pilot and great videography. Thank you for sharing! Do you have a vid on that particular prop?
I don’t think I do.

There is nothing quite as majestic as a biplane in slow flight. Delightful!
lovely looking plane, I wonder how she handles on the ground
I think if it was painted red it would go much faster.
It has to be very rewarding to say, "I built that prop!"
There are taildraggers and then there are REAL Taildraggers!
Yes, yes there are! Harvey is a pro
Finally get to see your work at 2:09 :-)
That was so neat! Thanks for sharing!
Very nice !
Nice
Awesome
beautiful !
That is awsome!
Very nice, thanks for that.
Goostuff!!!

Well that was a 2 minute 15 second video, so yes a lot was left out.
Niiiiiiceee
😎😎😎😎
Perhaps that re-engineered Model A engine that is now out there would be a great fit for these WW1 replicas?
One or two have used them

Those are just my props, I don’t know much about the runway length or take off distance.
So which Lycoming is it? And what are the specs? Rpm diameter pitch?
0235
That's not Rheinbeck..where is that?
Private strip
👍
Is that plane around the Rolla area?
No
what is the life of a prop?
Up to 20 years if taken care of well
