that is a supposedly a copy of Captain Eddie Rickenbacker's plane. The "Hat in the ring" insignia was on his plane. 22 enemy planes shot down and 4 observation balloons. Commander of 94th squadron WW1 Cant vouch for the accuracy of A Nieuport French plane in the American 94th squadron . I always saw his plane and pics of it as a Spad 13.

What? The 94th and other squadrons got Ne 28s before they got Spads. There are several photos of 94th Aero Nieuport 28s, including ones with Captain Eddie in them. It's a matter of historical record that the Ne28 was the US's first fighter. If you've only seen pics of Eddie with his Spad, then you really need to check again.

@@Hendo56 Raoul Lufbery, Doug Campbell, Alan Winslow, Reed Chambers, H. Weir Cook, Ham Coolidge, and Eddie Rickenbacker, are the most famous members of Uncle Sam's "Hat in the Ring" squadron, but there were obviously others. The original 94th Aero Squadron flew for the U.S. Air Service from August 1917 until the end of the war in 1919.

Isn't the Nieuport a French plane?

Yes. View the link. It describes more about it. US did not have their own fighter plane at the time.

The French said the 28 was too dangerous, so we bought most of them
