キャサリン先生、おはようございます。🌸桜色のジャケットとても似合ってます。今日も綺麗な英語を聴くことができる幸せを感じてます。ありがとうございます。感謝します。
Spring is beautiful here in the UK, the cherry blossom, roses are flourishing and tulips are thriving. There are vibrant colours everywhere.
😍😍
Our hearts thriving after you teach us.
I agree 😊
Through my experience in the field of voiceover, when I watched your videos and heard your voice, I feel that you have a talent in voiceover, your way of giving, and your tone of voice really qualifies you to be a creative and professional voice commentator in the field❤❤
Wow that is a really lovely and personal comment 😊😊😊
Why just stop at Voice over ? If a really good acting agent is watching these videos, he should fall over himself to try her for a film
Katharine, your channel is making my spring so flourishing! 🌱🤩🙏🏻 Thanks a lot 💚💚
Oh I’m so glad to hear that 🤗🤗🤗
How beautiful Katharine! 🤗Your 'I love the rain' inspired me a 'little' poem. Hope you like it! 🙂
~~~~~ The rain at my window - I love the rain ~~~~~
I love the rain that you can feel
still invisible and silent
but which we smell and we can sense
though clandestine and secretive
I love the rain that moves forward
in her cortege of turbulence
Her puffy clouds that swirl and dance
changing her face a thousand times
I love the raindrops that commence
sparse and discreet in their prelude
then increase in exuberance
to arrive at their plenitude
I like the rain slightly misty
Her graying and nebulous veil
Her little beads of silky tears
forming a vaporous curtain
I love the rain and her silence
sliding down along my windows
portraying in her transparence
fugitive and changing tableaux
I love the rain and her music
the lil' drops falling on my tiles
composing tunes so magical
that the sky seems a symphonic
I love erratic rain torrents
Playing hooky, playing truant
grooming pudibulous flowers
denuding beneath the gutters
I love the rain that pops and hops
rippling onto laneway's puddles
the pure flashes that she scatters
are like the splashing of sparkles
I love rain of expectation
when the earth beseeching heaven,
desp'rate with thirst and pain and plight
awaits her like a honey bath
I love the rain that heals and scars
the wounds of the body and soul
that soothes and champagnizes
the melancholy and the tears
I love the rain of mousseline
delicate, pale, light and soothing;
The one druming and thumping down
when Jupiter is mad and frowns
I love the rain and her caress
whose subtle touches and movements
have the elegance and finesse
of virginal epanchements
I love the rain and her odors
her aromas ineffable
of earth, of tar and petrichor
ephemeral, indelible
I love the rain and her landscapes
all in shades of watercolor
the chiaroscuro of her veil
painting a more glorious nature
I love the rain that awakes me
purifying my night, my eyes
that lulls my sleep, softens my nap
and makes me fall asleep happy
I love the rain that entertains
that puts cats to the window panes
making them their milk abandon
maybe they'll lap up later on
I love the rain we're all ears for
that plays and laughs, chimes and bellows
The one that trickles drop by drop
that we wait for and that echoes
I love the rain that moves away
gradually drying her wails
while the birdies join peacefully
the azure that makes them happy
I love the timeless rain alive
the rain of dreams and desires
Rain of the original world
O dear rain, my water of life.
Thanks for the wonderful lesson.
Bisous.
Absolutely. I love the dawn chorus outside my flat! In winter, I would say it starts at 8 in the morning, so I don't want to get up early in winter!
🤗🤗😊😊
Hi Katharine, Marie here! Bouquet is French. And as many French words it comes from latin. In latin: boscum, meaning many trees. So the meaning has changed a bit through the ages becoming an assembly of flowers.
Thank you Marie 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊
Hello from France ! Thank you for this lovely (and helpful) video ! I love spring too. It's my favourite season of the year with summer of course but spring is "the beginning" of all.... and I was born in june so spring is very important for me 😆 Bouquet is definitively a French word. Have a nice spring day ! 🍓🍒🌷
@@englishwithkatharine " Prego !" (That's Italian)
You are like a mysteriously smiling Britain's " Mona Lisa ",
and you make me feel like an Italian artist in spring,
But to tell you a secret , I couldn't pronounce these long words for the life of me , like only a native speaker can. So I 've a lot to practice .
Practice can perfect
Dear Katharine
I need to tell you this! I absolutely love your channel. I've been learning English since I was 12 and I am now in my late 30s and still learning😅 (I know this process will never stop as the language is constantly changing) I say this because I have watched so many channels and I am grateful for all but yours has something different something unique, it's got so much soul in it and it makes me come back again. I think it is your positive energy (youre an amazing teacher of course), and you don't just teach you send so much more than content. It's a joy watching and listening to you! I think I also find myself a lot in so many of the things you like that you mention, and i love how you teach the English language together with the culture and the seaasons! ❤
~~~~ Butterflies ~~~~
Of all the beautiful things
We miss in the winter cold
What do you like best? - Me, roses;
- Me, the look of a lush green meadow;
- Me, the blond bouncing harvest,
Hair of furrows and swaths;
- Me, the singing nightingale;
- And me, the gorgeous butterflies!
The butterfly, stemless flower,
That flutters,
That we gather in a network;
In the infinite nature,
Flickering harmonies
Between plants and birdies!
When the superb summer returns,
I go in meadows, in the sun
And I lie down in the long grass,
Lost in this great and verdant shroud.
On my head upturned,
There, each in turn,
Passes like a thought
Of Poetry or Love!
Here is the 'Faun butterfly',
Yellow and black;
Here's the azure "March",
Waving sparks
On his wings delicate
Of rich, moiré velvet.
Behold the swift 'Vulcan',
Flying like a nestling
His splendid black wing
Wears a great crimson ribbon.
Gosh! the 'Soufré', in spaces,
Like a flash has gleamed
But the cheerful "Nacré" passes,
And all I see is him!
Like a silk fan, he unfurls
His mantle strewn with silver;
And his colorful robe holds
A greenish and changing gold.
Here is the 'Zebra Machaon',
Nicely striped of black and fawn
The 'Mourning', funeral gown
And the fair 'Blue-Striped Mirror';
Here's the 'Dead Leaf', the 'Morpho'
The 'Big Blue' and the 'Morio',
The 'Peacock of day' which carries
An eye of fire on each wing!
But the evening browns our plains;
A noisy rise, here' s the 'Phalène'
And the 'Sphinxe' with dark colors,
Flutters and whirls in the shadows
Now this is the 'Pink-Eyed Peacock'
On a greyish background drawn
Who only flies at close of night,
Like the bats!
The 'Bombice of the privet',
Striped with yellow and zephyr;
'Oak butterfly', Tortoiseshell
That doesn't die in winter!
Here is the 'Sphinx' with the head
Of a scary skeleton,
White-painted on black background;
The one that the villagers dread
To see flying when twilight comes...
I don't so much like the moths,
Of the night the somber hosts
O'er the plains or the homes' lights
From seven untill midnight;
But you, butterflies I love,
Light butterflies of the day,
All in you is an emblem
Of Poetry and of Love!
But, woe to you, dear 'flies lovely!
'Battus', beware for your beauty!...
A finger, brushing your corset,
Has crumpled, alas!, the velvet!...
Philenor, a sweet young girl
Piercing your hearts with a needle
Hands delicate, with the soft smile,
Gazes at you, the eye surprised...
Your soft name is immortalized
Above features neatly compiled
And your too long legs are chopped off
By the glazed nail that bites them off,
Your antennae curl up and bend
In the pictural throes of death...
