You guys are dropping game bombs, I’ve been a self employed sculptor live edge furniture maker for 15 yrs been through blown discs, broken hands, fingers, 3 kids, Covid, and what you guys are saying is 1000% true and I’ve gotten so hurt, developed drinking problems, and gotten so burnt out I’m here learning tattooing, lol jk but the reality is I always need a hobby along with my passion for woodworking, the truth is you make your own destiny through your disciplines.

I am trying to become an apprentice here these next two weeks at a really well known shop around in my area. I’m really nervous but your videos have really been helping me a lot with my anxiety and questions that I been having in my head. Thank you for everything you upload. 💕

My boss told me 20% and that I was earning more than the usual. And then he included taxes and so it became almost 10%. No one told me I was getting ripped off so I worked like that for 2 years 😅

I really enjoy listening to you guy's. I learned with old equipment. I got this new stuff and it's crazy different. When I first became an apprentice I didn't know anything about it and was brought in to work for free. Started off drawing flash , tracing flash , making needles and soldering on bars. It didn't take long I was getting screwed when I heard other shops paid.

    Guys, any advice for me:
I’m 41, and I know that’s kind of late to get into this, but I have been a mixed media artist all of my life, and a friend of mine gifted me with a beginner tattoo machine and people around me really believe in me. I’m confident I can do it too, I’ve been practicing on skins, but what I’m not so sure about is how I will actually make a transition into doing this full time. The local shop’s owner is willing to teach me, but I’m not sure how I’ll go about apprenticeship. I have a full time job and I have bills to pay. I can’t afford to work for free during the week right now but I am willing to work for free on weekends. Do you think this is actually viable or am I wasting my time? I simply cannot afford to quit my full time job to apprentice for free full time. Have you guys ever heard of anyone coming from a similar situation?

Since you're speaking on making sure you as the artist of comfortable and in the correct position, which is absolutely a thing I'm coming across with my apprenticeship, could you share what are your favored positions for bodyparts for clean lines? Like I don't know where to base and position myself as a reference or what to look for when im still trying to get how to hold the machine for best angle. That would be very helpful because as far as I've researched, there's no video available covering this topic. I feel if I could get how to hold the machine most comfortable to pull a line and then what to look for when establishing a base and angle with the clients body I could progress significantly. I will remember the pillows because thats a great idea, how many do you keep on hand? I have found that i keep a blanket with a washable wrap for clients that are uncomfortable with being disrobed to an extent or i keep a checklist for items for them to bring if they prefer like blanket etc. Thank you for all your content, it is extremely helpful.

    • @HARLINSVIKINGLIFELNC

What I keep in mind..is having the client get in a comfortable position first where I'll be doing the tattoo.
Second, making sure what ever body part I'm tattooing is on something solid, and flat as possible. Third, Brandon brought up another Good point, ..by making sure (you) are comfortable. Your the artist. It's vital were in a comfortable position ourselves to do our best job.
Obviously $5,000.oo tattooing Chairs, or tattooing beds are great.
But if you don't have that kinda money like I don't yet lol.... using pillows, or couch cushions are sufficient and will work.

Just "Hire someone from the Philippines for 4 dollars an hour to help you out"
    GOT IT !! 👌
    HAAAA!!!!!😂🤣😅😆 LMFAO!!!!
    That was hilarious.
    Great Advice BRO Brandon!!
Great Advice Seriously from both of you! Much Much Appreciated.
I really believe advertising/marketing, bringing in my clientele is no problem. All I gotta do is mention the word tattoo! where I live and I'll have way more then enough clientele,.. they'll be trying to knock down my door lol..seriously.
I live in a college town everybody loves tattoos where I live, and everyone and there dog wants a tattoo lol. No I'm not tattooing dogs# lol. But making a business for myself with tattooing is on my agenda. Independently, on my own. Or even traveling from time to time to certain locations if I need?
Not trying to jump into a "shop" right now. Maybe in time.
BRO Brandon.. you are Right about Taxe$ That was Good to bring up as well. Man everything you give advice on is always spot on.
I always really Appreciate your advice, support, Help, and Honesty.
    Sincerely your fan Tj. WA.
