I think it was Igor Strawinsky who once remarked that the piano is really a percussion instrument or at least can be used in that way, and I think this here demonstrates how this is even more true of the guitar. While this piece is certainly not my preferred style, I think that it is not only here that more than half of the ecstatic effect of such solos derives from the rhythmic element and the melodic and sound aspects _(are certainly not just an excuse for the rhythm but)_ work almost as subservient enhancers for it.
