Yes, its because the writers wrote "they get scared" because they had no idea what a Krayt dragon was because it didn't exist when they filmed the movie. Star wars was saved in editing. Skeleton was just a big beast lol

You know, when I first watched A New Hope I never understood why the tuskans ran just because Obi-wan made a weird noise. Now after seeing what the Krayt dragon can do, I get it.

Why didn’t Disney let the people working on the Mandalorian make the movies. These people actually know what they’re doing, know the material very well, pay attention to small details, and actually care about the franchise.
Completely agree. It's like these teams never mixed or had any input with each other. Movies by this crew.. that would be the Star Wars we were all waiting for.
Only the numbered movies 7-9 were awful imo. Example of attention to detail in Rogue One: we see Jyn Erso gripping her kyber crystal while they're waiting to get clearance to the shield world, subtly implying a subconsciously performed Jedi Mind Trick, versus Rey's blatant use of it when she shouldn't have know what that was or to do it at all.

That makes sense to me. I used to think of it as a kind of campy wizard whoshy arm wave, but now it feels like a totally plausible situation.
I even wonder now if Obi-Wan had run-ins with the Tuskens before, and if they even saw him as a stranger in this situation.
Good example of how you keep constructing and expanding the legacy.

What’s funny about this is that we now know the Tuskens weren’t afraid of Obi-Wan coming towards them, but actually were convinced that this old man must be running for his life and they should too.
This is why ppl love the Mandalorian, like with the Cobb Vanth character, the expansion of Sand People as actual people, the Pearl in the carcass and Boba Fett reveal of that episode, really appealing to big fans of the franchise

Didn't he use both? This specific scene has the OG one, a later scene uses an interpretation of the new one.
@@vomErsten he did a strong mix of the two, it makes any version of Episode 4 makes sense because of that. It’s a little detail, but it makes a lot more sense now.

Nope. Lucas changed it for a reason. Obi-Wan now mimics the cry of the Boga (a lizard creature he used to chase after Grievous on Utapua). He is NOT imitating the Krayt Dragon.

I recommend you use resources online like Wookieepedia as 1) it is the largest, most accurate, and frequently updated center of star wars lore (canon and legends) and 2) These types of things in star wars arent always up for interpretation, there are very clear and defined answers to many things. There is a very unknown version of the kenobi howl out there that I have heard that does sound like the varactyl Boga but the Blu Ray sound as of now is the official sound and is meant to be a Krayt Dragon! The more I watch The Mandalorian, the more ridiculously good they are at keeping the "original" elements YET, still able to bring something fresh. Incredible!!!
Honestly I just spent a lot of the episode comparing this Krayt dragon to the one I faced in Knights of the Old Republic. They even tried to kill it the same way by blowing up its underbelly that's a nice callback touch to those that played that game.
If it wasn’t for Favreau, Star Wars would be dead to me.

before watching this, I always found Obi-Wan making that sound to be out of nowhere and unexplained. "why's he making that sound? why would that scare the Tusken Raiders?"

The interesting aspect about this is that in the canon Star Wars Myths & Fables book, the author directly mentions the Krayt Dragon and implies that Obi-Wan is the one who slayed it. Obviously, the book was just Myths and Fables, so the events in it might not have actually happened, but it creates an interesting overlap in the plot. Maybe there were multiple Krayt Dragons?
There are Multiple krayt dragons. The one you see in the mandalorian is not "the" krayt dragon, just 'a' krayt dragon. They are a species that comes in two different sizes. Big as fuck (the one seen in the mandalorian) and a lot smaller. Take this with a grain of salt but yeah there are Multiple

I was kinda hoping to hear the 2004 one. I like the idea of a dragon having a unique cry that doesn’t have much growling in it. Really makes it seem like it’s a different universe
When I was a kid, I thought they ran away from Ben cuz they recognized his Jedi cloak and mistook him for Anakin. Idk if this is actual canon, but I remember hearing how Anakin's slaughter of the Tusken village became an urban legend for the Tusken communities throughout Tatooine.
