You should really only have an internal drive for OS system and programs. Storage of media should either be server if you use them regular or two hdd drives. One being a back up. System remains at its fastest and you never run out of space.
Katanaclipse That’s actually a really good idea , the problem is that if you only keep the os on the disk and the document on a slower external hard drive you are basically gonna have a slow computer to open documents and save them , only the os is gonna be smooth
@diego I am assuming you are meaning that the files are used from the hard drive storage. Take for example I am video editing, I just copy the raw video onto the macs internal and work on it there. That way you still have the raw video file safe. Sure you must of accidentally saved something and overwritten the original to lose it. Lol as you can tell redundancy is important to me lol thunderbolts pretty fast to transfer files over too, usually set it off and go get a drink or used to go for a smoke. Just drinks now as quit smoking lol. Though it’s personal preference just cause it works for me doesn’t mean it works for everyone. I do want to try those Samsung ssd external storage disks that a lot of photographers/cinematographers use, there meant to be pretty sweet.

In Final Cut Pro, you can delete rendered files from the past so that can MAJORLY free up storage... Final Cut Pro EATS STORAGE UP SO FASTTTT but deleting rendered files that you don't need anymore after you finish editing a video will help... Another tip is setting the project area to "all clips" and deleting all the files that are not in use, which will just delete it from Final Cut not your MacBook🙌
I don't understand the point of keeping old videos once they've already been uploaded, it's just better to delete them & that would free up a LOTTT of storage too.

It’s because this laptop has much higher end specs.... duh. And storage isn’t storage. There is more to storing stuff then just the capacity. These MacBooks have the fastest ssds you can buy. Your hp laptop probably has a hybrid drive or a much slower ssd. Sure you can go buy a 1tb hard drive for $50 or even a 10tb for $150 but that doesn’t mean it is the same thing as a $1000 1tb ssd. Download adobe premiere pro and try editing some 4K footage on your laptop. It won’t work so well. That is why you spend 10x the price 🙂
D4RTHVAD3R2004 yea $8k is totally overkill especially for YT videos shot on normal 4K cameras. Most of that price is in the 4tb ssd which is definitely a good ssd but they are very expensive. I’m buying a new MacBook Pro in a few days for $4k and it will have better specs than the one in this video but I’m just getting a 1tb ssd.

I just got my first MacBook. I got the New MacBook Air with Touch ID and I really like it. But I fell over when I realized I was spending OVER A GRAND on my computer! I don't do enough on my computer as of now to justify a MacBook Pro. With a MacBook you are paying for the Apple brand, the os, the components of the computor and the casing. Take the imac pro for example. The iMac pro has a $200 price cut than if you were to build it yourself. Thats without the os, apple branding, the outter shell and peoples wages.

if you are saying this you have no idea about performance users like graphic designers, programmers, Game Developers & Application Developers Mac OS performs much better in this type of work fields telling you from Experience , because the operating is Linux/Unix based and the Hardware and Software are more compatible with each other cuz they are developed or created by the same brand or company not a fan boy i have been developing on windows platform for years & i have faced a lot of difficulties because of that so its not just an expensive social media Machine it is actually good for something :p
I have a maxed out Macbook Air, and I use Photoshop and iMovie at the same time, and it can't handle that.
For about $1500 you could have set up a local network server and had anywhere between 4-25TB with very fast access speeds. Plus having redundancy.

It’s cause other computers has different specs.
It’s because this laptop has much higher end specs.... duh. And storage isn’t storage. There is more to storing stuff then just the capacity. These MacBooks have the fastest ssds you can buy. Your hp laptop probably has a hybrid drive or a much slower ssd. Sure you can go buy a 1tb hard drive for $50 or even a 10tb for $150 but that doesn’t mean it is the same thing as a $1000 1tb ssd. Download adobe premiere pro and try editing some 4K footage on your laptop. It won’t work so well. That is why you spend 10x the price 🙂

D4RTHVAD3R2004 yea $8k is totally overkill especially for YT videos shot on normal 4K cameras. Most of that price is in the 4tb ssd which is definitely a good ssd but they are very expensive. I’m buying a new MacBook Pro in a few days for $4k and it will have better specs than the one in this video but I’m just getting a 1tb ssd.
Great video, as always Jenna. I had a look at the same unit this morning in PC world, UK. When I tried watching random 4K videos on UA-cam it was unable to upgrade beyond 1080P. Can you watch UA-cam 4K content on yours?

I just got my first MacBook. I got the New MacBook Air with Touch ID and I really like it. But I fell over when I realized I was spending OVER A GRAND on my computer! I don't do enough on my computer as of now to justify a MacBook Pro. I was thinking about eventually starting a UA-cam Channel, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing that or what program to use to edit the videos, so any input will be great!

You can buy an external 3 TB hard drive for $100.00. You also probably should have gone with the i7 processor considering the i9 has problems with thermal throttling.

With a MacBook you are paying for the Apple brand, the os, the components of the computor and the casing. Take the imac pro for example. The iMac pro has a $200 price cut than if you were to build it yourself. Thats without the os, apple branding, the outter shell and peoples wages.
