I’ve listened to thousands of podcasts and this is easily the best 1 . Superb patter. Unfortunately the yes supporting host fell into the default setting of the guy says something against the snp and the host says, same way the tories. Brutal that bit of it. Brilliant stories anyway. I’d like to get his book.
James was my lawyer once upon a time. I got lifted and went to court in the Black Mariah and when entering the cells and the cuffs being taken off and they asked who my lawyer was I replied "James McIntyre". The turnkey replied that he wouldn't be representing me that day as he was in jail. Another time he was representing both me and JJ Jennings in a Sheriff and Jury trial where video evidence was to be used for the first time ever in a court of law in Scotland along with our co-accused Ian Love. Me and Ian tried to plead guilty to every charge, and there were about 17 charges in total(JJ was done with one of the charges on his own), to get JJ off as he was a lifer and would be back inside doing his life sentence. During the trial the PF repeatedly replayed this footage constantly and every time they did James and Ian's lawyer would stand up to object for a future appeal(in the end not needed). When they showed the footage of me it was a guy going out of sight of the footage swinging a dog chain and coming back into footage with his hand and chain being held behind his back and me punching his head in(turned out later he was a serial rapist). James stood up and spoke to the jury and said "In the cowboy movies you see the baddy enter the saloon bar with a gun then John Wayne punches the baddy, you don't see the police rushing in and arresting John Wayne, do you?" It had the Jury and the whole court pissing themselves laughing and that had the jury onside. He did other things also, to show what the police and crown were up to. When the Jury came back and replied with their verdicts on each charge, Not guilty, not proven, not guilty, not proven... The packed gallery was like a football crowd cheering at each one getting louder at each verdict until the final one then they erupted to the final "Not guilty". Ian got one guilty charge for glassing a guy though but he couldn't get off with that with all the evidence against him including CCTV footage. I hope you remembered that one for your book James. Other times in court the sheriff would have a recess and James would crash you a fag and put his feet up and we would be smoking in the courtroom. James also drew more guns than John Wayne as he wouldn't be writing anything down when giving him the story he would be sketching guns. I know the interviewer and have been in some jail with him but memory and especially for names I am a nightmare with. It's Steino here anyway.
Need more lawyers like this, am fighting to see my son have been for 2 years a was seeing him 2 days a week was going great, my big sister died sadly with covid at 38 just before my son was born so never had time to process it because my son was just after, after separating from his mum at the weekends when not having my son a took sniff and drank to deal with grieve and got a drug test 6 months ago and all of my days got took of me, been sober and not touched drugs in 3 months BUT a held my hands up to it all and even my corrupt lawyer who's meant to be on my side is against me it's nuts really is never drank or done drugs when my son was in my care never would, what am saying is the system is a complete joke to be able to do this to a single dad more so stop my son who is 2 not to see is dad, hopefully next month thing will change, but not hopeful with how corrupt this system is, great podcast
Gazza6294 they don’t want you in your sons life the state want to keep him. Please don’t give up son. My ex tried that nonsense and threatened to take mine to Canada and I called her bluff. Put birthdays cards and Christmas cards with money in them and keep them until such times as you see the wee man again and then he’ll know you have always remembered him. Just a thought. Hope u get to see him soon though snd please don’t give up. I never and told his maw that he’ll no be a wean forever and he’ll resent you and she folded and let me see him. No wonder so many men do away with themselves with this going on.

@@gazza6294 I know u don’t need me to tell you but just comply with everything they ask at centres etc and change your lawyer if need be if they aren’t doing what you need them to. I don’t know your financial situation but I’d start to push for an afternoon every 2 weeks with just u and the boy. Whatever you do don’t give up as that wee fella will remember the effort you put in to see him. I was brought up in a broken home and my dad kept every single letter to and from his lawyer and showed me and my sisters when we were all in our 20s and when we seen them the love I had for him went through the roof as I wasn’t to know how hard he pushed to see us then get total custody of us and the respect I had for him was unbelievable. Hang in there as that wee boy won’t always be a wee boy and his mum will think she’s got an upper hand but a boy needs his da to take him to football boxing or whatever it might be. Don’t be to hard on yourself about the gear n that because the amount of people with full custody of their kids that take it and drink will be unreal. Ma boy is 18 and his mum tried all the usual with me and that boy wouldn’t let the wind blow against me now because he knows and remembers that I spent every single weekend for 16 years going up and down the motorway to get him and drop him off. I’m Glasgow and he’s Edinburgh but still did it despite her moving about 8 times all over Edinburgh to annoy but it wasn’t happening. You do know when u have him for weekends etc when he’s going back to her you will get the tears and you’ll have them too but it’ll be worth it and that’s the hardest bit. As I said hang in there mate and this time soon you will have the upper hand and if you’re struggling with it mind talk to someone just anyone but take it from someone that’s lived it, it does get easier 🤝

Anyway don’t just accept seeing him at a centre push to be able to take him out for an afternoon just uz and then start pushing it further, do not roll over n get ur belly tickled n if ur lawyer isn’t doing the business then contact citizen’s advice n change lawyers that will work in your interests. Join an online group called families need fathers. Next time your at that centre which are degrading imo tell her n whoever she has with her that this wee boy won’t be a wee boy forever. The tears are the hardest part ( I bet u leave and start crying?) because that wee boy wants his dad and it’s you who will be taking him to football or boxing or whatever. Keep plugging away and I know u probs can’t see 5 minutes in front of u over it but trust me on this if u keep to your side of the bargain you’ll have a strong relationship with the boy. Mine 18 and I spent 16 years every weekend driving up n down the motorway I’m Glasgow he’s Edinburgh and he knows who put in the work to see him and we’ve a brilliant relationship. I know that’s not what u want to hear but I’m saying as I know the rewards for putting in the legwork. Don’t give up keep pushing don’t accept second best the wee man needs his dad.
