22WMR is a fantastic all around round. Plinking, target, hunting, defense. The variety of available ammunition is also a HUGE benefit depending on what purpose you're using it for.
There are not a lot of 22 Mag comparisons out there. This was especially good to watch. I've never considered 22 Mag as a target round, at least in comparison to 22 LR, but these results show it can be excellent at 50 yards! I have a Ruger Precision in 22 Mag that I don't shoot a lot. I'm going to buy some CCI TNT and give it a try! THAT was an amazing group! Thanks for the great video!
Great video! I always love seeing more .22 content of any kind. One thing I will add is with rimfire especially, companies use different lubricants on their projectile. In my experience you need to fire about 10 shots through a barrel of that specific ammo before shooting for a group to "season" the barrel to that particular lube. This is especially true in non-plated ammo but it absolutely applies to plated/jacketed ammo as well. I completely understand you had a limited amount of ammo on hand and I'm super thankful for the video you produced for us! Just something for ya to roll around in your brain 😁. Thanks again for your work!
Check the empty case on the dynapoint. I have had them rupture with regularity. Way too nice a gun to be shooting dynapoint in. I did not expect to see such a wide variety of ammo shoot as good as it did. Would like to see what it can do at 100 yards. This one made my day. Thanks.
The TNT's work great out of a handgun too! Surprisingly enough that has a Gold Dot bullet. I haven't seen the CCI's in a while but Federal has the TNT's my guess is it's the same thing with a different brand name.
Never shot a 22 mag. Always figured the weights would have started at 40 and went up. Looks like they all performed pretty good out of that fine rifle!
My 22 mag loved federal ammo using 33 grain Sierra bullets. Unfortunately they dropped it for a different bullet. CCI shoots like that for me out of my savage 93 heavy barrel. Excellent video with good selection of ammo. Keep up the good work!
Man! That rifle doesn't care one bit about what you feed it! Groups 'em all good, and every load was within about an inch or less from thecenter of the cross! You can grab any ammo and know you're gonna hit what you're aiming at! THAT SHOOTER IS A KEEPER! 🎯🎯
Awesome video! Very thorough. I love those cci's. I have always had good luck with them. They feed in in anything you can put them in, and they're always consistent. My go to rimfire ammo!
Love the test. I have done lots of testing and the CCI A22 loading in 35gr soft point is by far the most accurate and consistent in my guns. Thanks for the testing and great to see a variety of ammo available again.
Thank you Who Tee Who, I’ve got a couple of these brands of ammo for my rough rider and 22mag bing bang. I keep one close by on the farm for rats, coyotes or other pests that come by from time to time, had to put down a sick fox two years ago, two days later my next door neighbor got bitten by a rabid fox on his porch. Farming in the mountains it’s good to keep a boo lot slinger in reach. 💪🏽🎥💯👍🙏🏻
My old marlin lever action shoots the best 50 yard groups with the lead free CCI and the Hornady ftx prints the best at 100 yards. The bulk 40 grain CCI shoots real good too.
CCI makes great ammo, I have no complaints with them. My two marlins in 22 magnum seem to like it. Now the round that my Marlin 25MN and 925M seem to like the most is the Hornsby VMAX ammo. I know that round is hard to find right now, but what I do have on hand that one seems to be a great performer when it comes to sighting in, and taking out rabbits.
2 in the same hole with 1 flyer is why you should always do a 5 shot group. I know, as a shooter I hate to do it cause Im afraid it will open up with more shots but the truth of it is........its a better test........also similar barrel temps. Good video. No Hornady in the test?
Nice video. I agree with you. The point is to get bullets on target and having all the data will not do this by itself. Data can be a good prediction but you still have to fire the rifle to find out. Keep up the good work!
Have been considering the CZ ! And, now seeing it performed with a few select mfrs. Rounds, it definitely has me ready to squeeze the trigger ! ( no pun intended ) ! I am considering the magnum rounds for a secondary back-up gun ! If you had to select one of, for both a hunting round, and a self-defense round, which would be your first choice WhoooDeee ? Excellent job out of your CZ !
A lot of airgun pellet manufacturers makes sample boxes, so that You do not have to by 250-500pcs and then experience lackluster accuracy. Wouldn't that be nice if the ammo maker do likewise, for .22lr/.22mag 10 of each loading, the same for handgun ammo, hunting ammo would 5pcs of each be sufficient to checkout accuracy?
That would be an awesome idea for a retailer to do. They could repackage maybe 5 rounds of several loads as a sample to see what shoots best in their specific rifle. 👍
Great video! I have the exact same rifle. Mine prefers the HORNADY 30gr V max and I have shot a lot of different ammo through it. 2nd best on mine is the Federal 30gr HP
I have warne rings on most of my rifles. Seem to be very good rings! Haven’t tried the Norma yet but I will! Hard to beat the CCI maxi mags tho! Should try the 100 yard shooting with this .22 mag. Would be interesting! Love that rifle, by the way!
Good video, mate. My 22 WMR goes well with CCI 30gr poly tip, can shoot 0.3 of an inch at 50m and 1/2 inch at 100. Also tried CCI JHP the group is not as good as the poly tip but still gets decent groups at 100.
It's hard finding a good selection on .22 mag these days. I've been trying to stock up on a few different brands to see what my gun likes the best. When I bought the gun brand new it had a big sticker on it that said if I shoot anything less than 40 grain ammo it void the warranty. I can find a alot of 30 and 40 grain rounds but not many 45 or 50 grain. They are always out of stock.
Don’t know how long the barrel had time to cool between ammo change, but it seemed like after the first shot with each change, the second two shots were much tighter. That’s for the good video sir! You never disappoint. 😊
Imagine the bull barrel let the higher velocity shoot true. I'd like to see Norma in a variety of calibers tested for actual velocity, the box label always seem a bit high. The powders burn pretty clean, maybe less hot and slow down barrel burn
Love these ammo comparisons. Gives us some really good info. Thanx sir for your continued efforts. 😁...@8:03....that CCI TNT is a between the eyes of a groundhog at 50 yds.
I prefer CCI. For things like groundhogs I like a HP, for things I plan on eating like squirrels I prefer the total metal jacket as in my experience there is less damage to the meat. I know I can use a 22lr which causes less damage however I have a Savage 24. It is 22 Magnum over 3" 20 gauge. It is nice because I can use the 20ga for aerial targets and the 22 Mag lets me stretch out to distance. I have never tried as as many different rounds as you did in your video.
Ive always had better luck , the closer to the action and barrel the scope ,I can get it . I've a ruger 77 22mag and a 77 22 lr and a few more in deer hunting calibers , think something is loose on my 22 mag or the scope is bad . When I feel better, ill lock tight all the mounts and diagnose whats happening
These rim fire mags round are what a lot of people out in the country use for vermin control, like what you grab when your chickens are getting attacked.
Making me drool over that CZ. My cheap bull barreled Savage 93 with a 3 x 9 works well for me here in rural backyard varmint country, but boy would I love that CZ.
🇦🇺😎👍Hey brother, happy Friday……that’s a nice Rig👍…..Remington magnum rimfire was my guess….brother you got some great results🏁….great test mate, good science, catch you on the next one
I've always found that three or five shots of one brand then going to the next doesn't work very well. When I try different ammo, if I'm tight on range time I'll just rapidly fire off 5 or 6 of one brand, see how well it works then do the same for the next brand. I thought for sure Norma would do the best but that's why you need to try different rounds
Beautiful rifle, on my wish list of ‘retirement guns’ to get before too long. Maybe in a .17 HMR though, as they seen to be more inherently accurate than the .22 Mag., and one of those rifles is all about the accuracy. Great video! P.S…. Love Warne rings and bases, have the QR setup on a couple of my rifles. Solid, quality stuff.
I'm contemplating a KelTec PMR30 22 Magnum pistol, surely one of these will work with that. They say don't use below a 40 grain charge or it will jam (without an upgrade)... so probably the CCI or Norma jacketed hollow points.
That rifle is beautiful, I'm a big 22wmr ...fan boy.... where did the scope come from and what's the price tag on that? And the rifle if you don't mind?
I always suspect the round. I pulled the slugs on a few hundred .22lr and the powder was extremely inconsistent, from 1/10th of the shell filled and up to all the way.
I've also got a cz (457 i think) 22LR that preférs middle of the road stuff iin terms of weight and velocity. I really like the rail on yours but looks like it sets the overall height of the scope a little too high
I’m anxious to see which ammo my CZ 457, 22 WMR Canadian version will like with lighter barrel ..There are no reviews at the range for this model unless I missed some !!
I like the gun, like the scope but the pic rail raises the scope too high, even higher than high rings ! I like the scope mounted closer to the bore of the rifle but that’s just my personal preference.

Lol I’m assuming it’s a scam?
I'd use pretty much all of these. It's hard to beat CCI. They are my go to for rimfire.
CCI is all I use in my .22 lr and .22 mag. My Marlins love CCI.
Yep.

Yep..I do wish that federal would bring that load back..great round, great performance.
+1 on the federal premium with the sierra. Was the ultimate 22 mag round. Awesome on All types of game and verry accurate.
I absolutely love the stock on that rifle. Nice vid. Thank you for taking the time to entertain and inform us. I really appreciate the effort.
Man! That rifle doesn't care one bit about what you feed it! Groups 'em all good, and every load was within about an inch or less from thecenter of the cross! You can grab any ammo and know you're gonna hit what you're aiming at! THAT SHOOTER IS A KEEPER! 🎯🎯

Next time try a 100 yard test pretty cool.
Agreed. Also 22 mag has a lot of inconsistencies, so when I did this test with my rifle, I did 10 shot groups.
@@ballisticlt7452 should at least do 5 shot groups.
I love Warne rails and rings but I especially like having Warne just across town. I can go get custom fitted. Gotta love that!
Awesome
I have a CZ 22mag just like that and really like it
Love the test. I have done lots of testing and the CCI A22 loading in 35gr soft point is by far the most accurate and consistent in my guns. Thanks for the testing and great to see a variety of ammo available again.
I got really tight groups with Hornay VMax 30gr with my CZ 457. Nice rifle!
My best load for my 22 mag rifle is Speer gold dot, even though it claims to be for pistols.
👍👍
Gold dots are made as good as a factory load I know. Kinda overlooked with all the marketing competitors. My experience with other calibers

Thos fox are crazy. Had one after my dog the other night
Now thats a fun video, my pick at the start was the Norma, so I was wrong. That CZ is a fine looking rifle 👍
those cci tnt is what i use in my ruger american love that gun
Hopefully you saved enough for the 100 yard test to separate the good from the bad...nice shooting!
I doubt any of these are truly 'bad', just not quite as good....
I own a Ruger precision 22 rimfire it loves the Hornady 30 grain VMAX 1 inch or less groups at 100 yd

Another great video, thanks. Nothing shoddy in the bunch but those TNT's were an eye-opener! Love 'em all but favor the smaller calibers.

CCI TNT for the win!
The faster it travels usually equates to a flatter tragectory.
Flat =fast.

I'm just about top test the Federal 30 grain TNT. Your video is very encouraging. CZ's are awesome! Nice video.
Good video, mate.
My 22 WMR goes well with CCI 30gr poly tip, can shoot 0.3 of an inch at 50m and 1/2 inch at 100. Also tried CCI JHP the group is not as good as the poly tip but still gets decent groups at 100.
My Savage 93 really likes CCI’s 30 grainers too. Thanks for the video!
I love your tests.
You are one of us, so we respect your opinion.
Appreciate you watching bigtime 🙏🙏🙏
Awesome groups! I was curious about the CCI tmj, my rifle groups those better than the other 40gr and looks like yours does as well

Good shooting I would have never thought those TNTs would have shot that good. I've always had good luck with the CCI Maxi mag 40 grains
I'm new to the 22Mag market and really appreciate this test! As always, you do great stuff. Thanks

Someone (Paul?) was talking as you fired that flyer with the Winchester.
I’d discount it and go with the first two shots.
Love that bullet barrel dude
The CCI TNT in my 17hmr are the most accurate out of all the bullets I have tried in both my 17hmr rifles.
Love these ammo comparisons. Gives us some really good info. Thanx sir for your continued efforts. 😁...@8:03....that CCI TNT is a between the eyes of a groundhog at 50 yds.

I love shooting 22WMR in my Rossi and my Ruger LCR. I fell in love with 22 mag shooting turtles last summer in a buddies pond.
Awesome
I love cci for my 22lr. Very tight groups. A wmr might have to be my next gun
I have the 457 American in 22mag. Mine likes the Hornady 30gr vmax. I think it may be something to that bullet weight and these CZ’s.
I've always found that three or five shots of one brand then going to the next doesn't work very well. When I try different ammo, if I'm tight on range time I'll just rapidly fire off 5 or 6 of one brand, see how well it works then do the same for the next brand.

That CCI is a beast! Love those CZ's brother. God bless man, CBS another great video WHOTEEWHO!
Always appreciate you watching
What we’re doing with the barrel? Cold bore? Cleaning between?
I wish you tried the v max and hollow point from Hornady but still a good video lol
Shooting the CCI Maxi Mag TNT fodder from my Taurus 72 rimfire carbine is sweet. Makes a helluva fireball for a .22, fuhgeddaboudit.
I've shot most of these...my rifle shoots the Federal 40 grain the best. Put up a 0.68 inch group at 100 yds out of a Ruger RPR today.
They all did pretty good
I'm contemplating a KelTec PMR30 22 Magnum pistol, surely one of these will work with that. They say don't use below a 40 grain charge or it will jam (without an upgrade)... so probably the CCI or Norma jacketed hollow points.
not only jam but could fire out of battery, just run 40s. There is no upgrade
Great video, but would've wished to see the speeds and ballistic gel, I believe this is an extraordinary round and could use an updated video.
The CCI TNT have the highest velocity and I love them!
love 22mag. dude the third shoot on the Rem. 40 gr. looks like you hit a fly and his guts are on the paper.
That rifle is beautiful, I'm a big 22wmr ...fan boy.... where did the scope come from and what's the price tag on that? And the rifle if you don't mind?
I've been wondering when you get two touching and one that's off could it be because of a bad trigger pull or could it be just the round
I always suspect the round. I pulled the slugs on a few hundred .22lr and the powder was extremely inconsistent, from 1/10th of the shell filled and up to all the way.
Just got some dynapoints today, I like it actually, nothing like the 40gr maxi mag hp
I've also got a cz (457 i think) 22LR that preférs middle of the road stuff iin terms of weight and velocity. I really like the rail on yours but looks like it sets the overall height of the scope a little too high
Fantastic!
Which of the CCI would you consider cleaner firing?
I dunno
NORMA is my choice, works even in cold weather 👍🏻
I think it’s nuts how much you have to adjust your scope even at 50 yards going from the 30 grainers to the 40
I’m anxious to see which ammo my CZ 457, 22 WMR Canadian version will like with lighter barrel ..There are no reviews at the range for this model unless I missed some !!
My mossberg chuckster loves all cci the fmj are my go to for rabbits and hares
Another quick one for you boss, please do a test on the Remington v max 33 grain when you can. would be good to see how it compares to your No1 ammo
👍👍
I got some of that TNT, they got big ol deep hollow points , I'm surprised how well they did. Good deal. 👍
Same rifle and it loves the hornady vmax
Thanks for sharing again. I had the cci TMJ 40grainer as my No1, close
I am looking forward to getting my hands on my own cz457 varmint in 22wmr
I like the gun, like the scope but the pic rail raises the scope too high, even higher than high rings ! I like the scope mounted closer to the bore of the rifle but that’s just my personal preference.
Like the 22 mag cci did will in 30 grain and the 40 grain
Really fun videos.
🙏🙏🙏
i felt the cci would win the day . but its my favorite ammo producers . i know you are partial to norma , ir tend to use a lot of it . to each his own
Could you check it with the Hornady V-Max 30gr.? My Marlin stainless really like them.
You forgot one Federal came out with the 22 mag punch lol. You might want to see if you can find any anywhere. They haven't been out too long
Hey mate when you get a chance please test your number 1 and number 2 placed ammo at 100 yards
Actually not s'prised the CCI did well... I like their primers too!!
Thanks!!
