An English-speaking listener may not notice it, but the song is built on a play on words - the phonetic similarity of the sounds of the word "tower" and the word "believe" in Polish. In the text we hear the identical sound: "We will build a TOWER. I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE.", where "tower" is "wieżę" and "believe" is "wierzę". In Polish "ż" and "rz" sounds identical.

Musical Metro jest kultowy dla nas Polaków z wielu powodów. Po pierwsze powstał w 1991 roku zaraz po upadku komunizmu. Był pierwszym polskim musicalem na Brodwayu. To właśnie na casting do Metra przyszła młoda, nikomu nie znana Edyta Górniak :) i brawurowo zaśpiewała utwór Litania. Do dziś musical ten jest z powodzeniem wystawiany w całej Polsce.

There is also a song by Budka Suflera called "Nowa wieża Babel" (New tower of Babel). Beautifull song, but in completly different style. You may want to check it out.
