To me the sudden shock plot works but in 1990s I was not aware of his 📉 film career. SS seemed to annoy & harass a few hot Hollywood types: 1980s 1990s. Kelly Lebrock took it hard.
@@kudraabdulaziz3096 Except for the fact that in interviews and behind the scenes material to promote the film Joel Silver said that Segal dies early in the film. Also, you know he's not the "Star" since his face isn't on the poster, his name isn't above the title, and he's not doing any of the promotion.
Me too. It was actually a pretty neat shock moment to kill off Seagal early in an otherwise forgettable die hard clone. The shot of him getting blown out of the airlock looks goofy af though lol.
I remember seeing this as a kid and being pissed when I realized that Seagal's character died at the beginning. Can't believe there was a time in my life that I was angry about Steven Seagan not getting enough screentime in a movie.
Dude, I just typed the same thing. Stephen Segal was in the promos and the pre-movie posters in Ireland. So, it was a huge disappointment when he was killed off so early! I was about 12 at the time though. 😂
Seagal was actually good in this movie. He should’ve learnt the lesson of playing smaller roles in good movies to keep his A list career going. But ego got in the way
I remember Seagal dying in the beginning and being pissed off because I felt they did a bait and switch. I was so young and stupid back then. Now I realize that it actually improved the movie and that Kurt Russell should never have had to share the screen with that schlub.
So true! I remember there was a massive screenprinted advertisement of it on our local video shop for atleast 2 years. I just rewatched it a couple of years ago and it was much better than I remember it being when I was 13!
Seagels death in the movie gor a round of applause when in the cinema when I saw it. Although seriously flawed EDis also very good. Benny Blanco from the Bronx elevation in the cast worked wonders and he it fair to say isn't a one note actor like seagel
Seagal was definitely featured in the trailers, and they made it seem as if he was the co-lead of the film. As a kid seeing this in theatres, I was shocked that his character actually died, and so early on! I even remember thinking, oh he's going to come back somehow, right at the end.
I like this film quite a bit, kind of sucked that Seagal died, first time I watched this film I was surprised. But I love Executive decision but it wasn’t perfect. Great video! Keep up the great work!
Steven Seagal received nominated at 17th Golden Raspberry Awards for Worst Supporting Actor but lost to Marlon Brando for The Island of Dr. Moreau and Executive Decision was also got only dishonourable mentions for Worst Picture at 19th Stinkers Bad Movie Awards
I remember going to see this movie with my uncle. We got there pretty late, like the middle of the film. We noticed that there was no Steven Seagal. We were like...."Is this the right movie?"
My stepmom saw this in the theater and told me about how she was shocked that Seagal died so early in the movie. I was 14 at the time and didn’t really care because I didn’t know who he was, but now all these decades later I’m finally finding out why that happened and am intrigued.
I honestly think the film would have been better with Seagal through the whole movie, but he was such an abusive a-hole he destroyed his own career. If you can find it? There's a promotion interview for Under Siege 2 where he's being so nasty and bullying toward his assistant it made me not want to watch any real footage of him unless in a film. Smh...got to remain humble can't mistreat people.
It was good seeing Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal in one action movie together even though Seagal gets killed in the beginning of the movie trying to save Kurt Russell and his team getting on the plane.
I’ve been enjoying your channel since I found it a week ago, however, I am confused on a point: I binged all of your videos and there are two distinct voices. Does this mean that there are you and your buddy making videos or are you just one person with two AI narrators? Generally I can tell when someone is using AI narration but with you I am genuinely unsure.
Yes, On Deadly Ground didn't do well. Segal also directed it (doubly his fault). And yes, his star power was clearly fading. But Executive Decision started production a month before Under Siege 2 opened in theaters. So there is no way the performance of that film affected the casting decisions in Executive Decision.
Yeah I reckon this clip is bs. Steven Seagal says that he was enticed to accept the unusual role of Austin Travis by a hefty salary, which amounted to around a million dollars per day spent on the shoot. He also found some satisfaction in knowing that his character's unexpected fate would shock the audience, and therefore did not regret taking the role.
I think the only actors that Kurt Russell really got along with well and liked working with and didn’t have problems were Mel Gibson, Val Kilmer, Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Costner, Christian slater, the late bill Paxton, Sam Elliott, Stephen Lang, vin diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason statham, Michael biehn, Michael rooker, Billy Baldwin etc. I’m surprised he didn’t like working with Steven Seagal since the both of them are very conservative and are supporters of the second amendment. But, that’s Hollywood.
No, Seagal came back with thr Joel Silver produced Exit Wounds and the movie made more than double its budget. That does not include the home video earnings. That was the last Seagal hit. He even lose weight for that movie. This and not Executive Decision was the last Seagal theatrical hit before he went back to obscurity with more misses. From the behind the scenes documentary for Exit Wounds, it would also seem Seagal has let go his ego a little and let the Hong Kong stunt team do all the choreography and wire work on him. He tried the same formula in the next movie teaming up with a black star but it failed.
@KinoReel-c4f the budget was only 33 million. Here's the excerpt: "The film received mixed reviews from critics. It earned $19 million in its opening weekend, and went on to gross a worldwide total of $79.9 million against a budget of $33 million. Exit Wounds was the final film under Steven Seagal's exclusive contract with Warner Bros."
@KinoReel-c4f most likely but I remember back in those days it was a modest hit for Seagal and sort of his comeback movie but sadly it wasn't meant to be after the medicore Half Past Dead failed at the box office.
I watched it on opening weekend, & said WTF happened to Steven Seagal. While I did not hate it, people wanted to see his antics on screen. Getting rid of him , hurt the movie
Dude he was paid previously for work on another movie and needed to appear in this as a write off you're talking nonsense and didn't research your stuff.
@KinoReel-c4f look it up you're the one putting out content, listen im not going to argue with you over people who don't even know I exist but your facts are wrong Russell never gave them any ultimatum Seagal was never going to be in the movie more than the allotted few minutes or whatever it was a money owed issue with WB I believe so he did it and pursued his own thing believing his hype.
@@KinoReel-c4f think about it with some common Knowing his ego he would never be killed off so fast he had no choice but to make the cameo.. That's fact and not hearsay
I had always thought Seagal's death was on purpose to surprise the audience.
Same here. My sister and I where left dumbfounded when we saw him die 😅. Best protagonist switch though

This was a big hit here in Australia, Kurt Russell is awesome. Great cast and non stop action

Karate, jiu jitsu, boxing, krav maga and kick boxing are just a few of the dangerous words that Seagal knows
He actually is a legit akido black belt
@jonsnipe5484 yeah...when his opponents let him flip them over
@antitroll890 it's more then then that.. akido is about breaking bones.. the style actually works in a street fight
@jonsnipe5484 and how many street fights has Seagal won?
@antitroll890 plenty.. didn't you see marked for death or out for justice 🤔 🤣
$122 million against a $55 million budget is pretty solid. Not groundbreaking but doubling your budget is considered a success.
And no mention of how friggin HOT Halle Barry was in the 90’s.
But I added her in video 2 times!
He doesn't like beautiful women 😜
Easily my favourite plane hijack movie of all time, i always thought Seagal's death was on purpose as a dramatic twist in the movie
I was shocked at Seagal's dearh, but, was glad he did tho,it was much better with out him. LOL.
It was very shocking to see him die like that so quick. It kinda kicked you in the ass that this movie has no rules. Anybody can die any time.

Here in the UK i had a copy of this on VHS and always wondered why Segal's face was on the cover even though he was barely in the film
I remember this movie, mostly for Seagals early exit. It was disappointing, when you expect a typical Seagal role.
Halle Berry and her movie agents declined Speed 1994. She may of saw this action film as a step up to hit films. She looks good in it. A tad thin.
I got this on Blu-ray. Absolutely brilliant film. Have you seen Turbulence with Ray Liotta?

I disagree. With Seagal getting killed off so early in the film it really sold the premise of them being totally screwed.
It was good seeing Kurt Russell and Steven Seagal in one action movie together even though Seagal gets killed in the beginning of the movie trying to save Kurt Russell and his team getting on the plane.
The only films with Seagal in them worth watching are Under Siege and Executive Decision.
When Segal was killed off, a guy in my theater got up and left. 😂
I wonder what he would think about it now😂

Am I the only one picturing Stephan Segal as Forest Gump?
If that was Chuck Norris during that death scene he would’ve hang glided to safety using his denim shirt before he’d go missing in action
Ive still never seen the ending. I was such a huge seagal fan when this came out that when i rented it I shut it off right after he died
