Predator 2 (1990). The Story of Failure
#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors
With a $35 million budget, "Predator 2" only grossed $30 million in US theaters. The international release earned it another $26 million, but it was still not enough. That's unfortunate, because we could have gotten another unique film. The ending of the second "Predator" hinted at a threequel.

Переглядів 8 тис.3 дні тому
#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Despite its $155 million budget, "Alexander" grossed only $34 million in the United States. The worldwide distribution brought investors another $133 million, but the losses were still colossal. Many blame Warner Brothers for the film's underperformance in the US. Following unsuccessful test screenings, the studio gave up on the film and cut its advertising b...
Steven Seagal's last major failure
Переглядів 7 тис.6 днів тому
#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Steven Seagal’s career, like that of many other classic action stars, faltered in the mid-1990s. His films started failing one after another. This negatively affected the actor's subsequent studio productions. However, Steven's films' budgets didn't fall as quickly as Van Damme's, and if he had been a little luckier, he might have ended up in B category movie...
Tom Cruise’s Secret to Mastering Studio Deals

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors In the early 2000s, Tom Cruise was Hollywood's biggest star. His roles paid him $25 million, plus a percentage of the film’s proceeds. Some studios would convince him to settle for just 10%, while others would pay him 20% or even as much as 30%.

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Val Kilmer was a rising star in the middle of the 90s. People knew him for leading roles in high-budget motion pictures, which earned him tens of millions of dollars. His future looked very bright. After filming ‘The Ghost and the Darkness’, the actor got a proposition from Warner Studios to return to the role of Bruce Wayne in ‘Batman and Robin’. But after r...
Piranha II: The Spawning (1982). The Story of the Film

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Although "Piranha II: The Spawning" is not actually a James Cameron movie, his involvement in the film has a fascinating backstory. In 1980, producer Ovidio Assonitis worked with Warner Bros to produce the low-budget horror film "Piranha II". The studio agreed to give him $500,000 on the condition that the film be directed by an American director.

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Steven Seagal's career took off in the early 1990s, bringing the world some great movies that are still worth watching today. However, the actor's rapid rise in box office earnings and fees led to disappointing results, and his career suffered an equally rapid decline. In the mid-90s, Seagal's inflated ego resulted in a major flop with "ON DEADLY GROUND (1994...
The Postman (1997). The Story of Failure

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors The movie's debut in December 1997 was a disaster. Everyone started calling it ‘Dirtworld’. Not only did the movie fail at the American box office, but it also received five Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, and Worst Director. Critics' average score dropped below 4 out of 10. Despite an $80 million budget, the movie grossed only ...

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Anyway, when Disney offered Bruce Willis the lead role in the upcoming film, he accepted it without hesitation. And because he really liked the script, he willingly accepted a significant pay cut for the chance to participate as a producer. Willis received $7 million for the movie, while his previous two roles earned him $15 and $16 million. Naturally, he did...

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors In the mid-nineties, Reeves, who was already a big star, decided to help his friend JOE CHARBANIC, who aspired to be a famous director. One day, after playing hockey together, Charbanic showed Reeves the script for his future film. It was supposed to be a small and independent film, a modest first step towards world domination. Keanu Reeves liked the script a...
The Demise of Jean-Claude Van Damme’s Career

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Van Damme became popular by participating in the movie “Bloodsport,” for which he received only 25,000 dollars. The movie had a very low budget and was shot by the studio Cannon Group, who were not particularly invested in the film. When the footage was brought to the studio, the producers Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus saw no potential in the tape. They deci...
Deep Rising (1998). The Story of the Film

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors In 1998, the fantastic horror film Deep Rising was released on big screens. The movie failed with a loud bang, which led to a chain of events that few people know about. Today I would like to go back about 25 years ago and remember one film that died together with Deep Rising, but nobody paid attention to it.
Deep Blue Sea (1999). The Story of the Film

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Originally, the film's main character was supposed to be Susan McCallister, played by Saffron Burrows. McCallister was a very positive character who always helped out her colleagues and openly despised the local evil corporation that funded the research. In other words, it was supposed to be a typical Hollywood film plot with one person wanting to save the wo...

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors The $160 million movie, released on June 13, 1997, only made $48 million at the box office. “Waterworld's” resounding box office failure in 1995 quickly paled in comparison. Everyone involved in the production immediately began avoiding any mention of it. Sandra Bullock once described "Speed 2" as "the biggest piece of crap ever made." Jan de Bont, the film's...

#movie #show #cinema #facts #actors Schwarzenegger didn't want to act in 'RED SONJA (1985)'. Arnie was desperate to get rid of swords and skin capes. But Dino De Laurentiis had a different opinion. After Dune's massive failure, the producer was struggling financially. He convinced Schwarzenegger to play a small role in 'Red Sonja', and the actor agreed only out of gratitude for his role in 'Con...
I loved this movie. Fun, plenty of action and the two main actors worked well together
predator 2 is awesome
I certainly enjoyed Predator 2 and the Mike Harrigan storyline portrayed memorably by Danny Glover and fellow cast.
Weird title
Why?
Just watched Predator 2 after long time since last, it was worse than I remembered.
Wrong
What "wrong"?
@KinoReel-c4f not a failure, good movie, last 45 minutes is the s**t
How come it wasn't failure if move did even brake even? First movie $15 mil. /$100 mil. was true success! Second $35/ $56! Twice more spent/ twice less earned. It was a financial failure. Owners even combined it with Alien - bcs of failure of P2
@@KinoReel-c4f I know your talking financially, but I mean as a piece of entertainment it's very watchable
I never said movie was bad. Plenty of good movies fail to earn $$$.
Glad I’m not the only one who loves Predator 2 😊
Uh, Arrnie was a super star before predator, wtf are you smoking?
Stop smoking and check what "superstar" means.
It might’ve been a “failure” but no one can say that Predator 2 wasn’t a pretty bad ass Sequel.
Nope
“Schwarzenegger wasn’t a superstar yet in 1987” Had already been a leading man in Conan and its sequel,The Terminator, Raw Deal, Commando before Predator 😂 Predator 2 is a solid sci-fi action film for the Predator lore and has become a cult film due to it.
Raw Deal? Lol. Look at his paycheck. Superstars have largest pay per movie.
@KinoReel-c4f By 1987 I think most of Hollywood had heard of Schwarzenegger. You make it sound like he was an unknown though.
No, I said "not a super star yet". Somehow you twisted my words into "unknown".
I liked Predator 2, of course it wasn't better than the original Predator, but good action movie. The ending with all the Predators coming out was Classic.
It's a pity, because from what I understand the original novel is supposed to be very good.
It's a fun watch. Recently picked up the excellent UHD BD.
If they released Predator II in 1997 could've make sense.
Kubrick’s process would not get him arrested or fired today. That’s silly.
One of the best financially failed movie ever, totally rewatchable. I love it. Quite the opposite of some blockbusters, financial mega hits, which I watched once in the cinema theater, but I don't care to watch a second time on TV.
I can assure you Arnold WAS a superstar in 1987. Conan, Terminator, Commando to name just a few. HELLO? MCFLY! ANYBODY IN THERE? HELLO?
Check superstar paycheck per movie first. Entire Predator budget was just $15 mil. It will be just Arnie's pay per movie soon. Terninator was a low budget movie too, btw. You don's see difference btw "unknown" and "not a superstar yet"? Anybody home?
@KinoReel-c4f I was a teenager in the 1980s, born 1970 and I can tell you Arnold WAS a huge star by the mid 80s. All the box title said was Swarzennegger Predator. A few years earlier he was Arnold Strong because they told him that his last name wasn't marketable. It was Terminator that made him a star by the time Predator was made he was a Superstar. They did more with movie budgets back then than the half billion dollar carbon copy cgj trash they make today.
Ok, here his pay per each movie, see the moment his pay went up? Hercules in New York (1970): $12,000 Conan the Barbarian (1982): $250,000 The Terminator (1984): $75,000 Commando (1985): $2 million Predator (1987): $3 million Twins (1988): No upfront salary; earned $35+ million from profit sharing Total Recall (1990): $10-11 million + 15% of profits Kindergarten Cop (1990): $12 million Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991): $15 million Last Action Hero (1993): $15 million True Lies (1994): $15-20 million Eraser (1996): $20 million Batman & Robin (1997): $25 million End of Days (1999): $25 million The 6th Day (2000): $25 million
@KinoReel-c4f His pay definitely went up, no question but his fame far exceeded his paycheck before $10-$20 million paychecks became the norm for a blockbuster movie.
Fame doesn't mean superstar. When many studios want to give you tens millions of $$$ just to get you - this is a superstar status. Not to many actors used to earn so much money. Check Kevin Costner's earning for same period. He was making twice more, he was a megastar.
It was a good film
You know what I believe? 💩 happens
Bill Paxton. The only actor to have been killed by a Terminator, a Xenomorph and a Predator.
This movie is the best in the series! It took what made the original great and made it better! 90s LA, drug wars, tough ass cops, Gary busy! What more could you want in a sequel. That's like saying that aliens failed after the success of alien. Just because something "failed" at the box office doesn't mean it is a disaster, my video shop was constantly out for this movie as everyone kept renting it and no one else could get their hands on it.
Story of Failure? You could use that lame title for any sequel that made less money than the original.
I use this title for any movie failed in box office.
I saw this in the theater as a “double feature” along with TREMORS. One of the best days of my life lol. So much fun!!
It's a classic 90's movie. What a cast - Glover, Paxton, Busey! R -rated, no bullshit. Loved it. ❤
The picture in the thumbnail is from Riddick 2013
But is the best picture/thumbnail available.
Love predator 2
Do "Conspiracy Theory" next.
One of the biggest upfront director fees at the time ($10 million).
07:44; don't forget about "Ghost".
04:01; Jesse Ventura backs this up.
The studio was more worried about violence over Terri Weigel's sex scene?
I didn’t know Tucco was in Under Siege woah 😂
Nice catch.
Love this movie!!
Predator 2 is still.a good sequel and atull the second best Predator movie for me. The first two Predator movies is the ones I go back to the most compared to the other sequels and spin-offs. Instead of sticking to the jungle, they gave us the concrete jungle which is a nice change of setting. It's not failure though. Hopkin's Lost in Space was actually quite enjoyable and had a great score by Bruce Broughton. I got the New Line DVD when it came out, followed by the Blu-ray and collected all the soundtracks over the years. Even though it didnt perform well, It's still a fun cheesy family sci-fi I revisit from time to time.
Was Steven Seagal not thought of as well
I probably have watched this movie more times than any other aside from original Star Wars
yet this movie was better than a lot of the movies that came after
This was a turd
I love Predator 2, absolutely not a failure. The only reason why a film like Predator 2 cant be made these days, is because the great majority of "modern" actors are fruitcakes. Pussies. As much as Arnold may have disliked the filming conditions, he, and the rest of the cast, were men enough to push through with it, making a unique and awesome film in the process. Why would he demand the return of the director then? If he was dissatisfied with the filming conditions, why ask for his return? My only gripe with the film has to do with those, and other, behind the scenes details, but I still love the final product and the actors again didn't quit. They did the work, and are remembered and respected for it. Again, was never a failure.
Predator 2 is legendary among my friends... King Willy will see you now......
Predator 2 was an awesome sequel. Don’t understand the hate.
No hate here, just a story. Most ppl in comments liked this movie.
It was a good movie!
Hell Predator 2 is way beter then most people want to admit. I love the idea of a Predator set loose in a City... also the fridge part was totally badass!!!
Shit Appenz
It's a great movie in a different way from the first one!
fkn awesome movie !
Are these churned out by AI? So many incorrect facts, omissions and funky edits. Again I mention the totally out of place comments on the necklace and with some simple research, completely ignorant and made up facts on the location conditions filming Predator.
*Predator 2* works conceptually. It’s a fantastic *idea* to move it to the city. It’s got a cool cast, some atmospheric direction, some neat effects due to a bigger budget, and some solid action. Hopkins isn’t in the same league as McTiernan, but those aspects are all solid. The main problem is pacing. The characters spend like two-thirds of the runtime learning what the audience already knows.
BS opening, peace out✌️
