  • 2022 will no doubt go down as one of the greatest years of anime. It's been a good long while since my watch list was THIS consistently full. There were a large number of shows I wanted to talk about, but decided to narrow it down to 15. As expected, I couldn't watch everything that came out, but did manage to finish roughly 60 anime. This video took a LOT of effort, much more so than originally anticipated. Regardless, I hope you find it entertaining and maybe it'll give you that last push to pick up some of the shows mentioned.
    Chapters:
    Intro - 0:00
    Special Mention. 86 - 0:51
    15. Demon Slayer S2 - 2:09
    14. Call of the Night - 3:23
    13.The Witch from Mercury - 4:54
    12. The Case Study of Vanitas P2 - 6:20
    11. Summertime Render - 7:39
    10. My Dress-Up Darling - 8:57
    9. Spy x Family - 10:07
    8. Attack on Titan S4 P2 - 11:14
    7. Mob Psycho 100 III - 12:21
    6. Lycoris Recoil - 13:31
    5. Chainsaw Man - 14:46
    4. Kaguya-Sama S3 - 16:11
    3. Bocchi the Rock - 17:40
    2. Cyberpunk Edgerunners - 19:21
    1. Made in Abyss S2 - 20:40
    Outro - 23:07
    Outro Theme:
    Aging Aeroplanes - Remember
    Outro Art:

It's safe to say that I completely underestimated how hard this video was going to be to make. It honestly felt like I was consistently working on this for three weeks straight. I also was dealing with it being blocked and heavily copyrighted, so I had to go back and re-edit it several times. Regardless, 2022 was such a good year for anime and I was determined to talk about some of my favorites of the year. This was originally going to be a top 10, but I found it impossible to just narrow it down to that. There are still several more I wanna discuss, but that may have to wait for a later time. I'm still new to writing these type of scripts and recording my voice, but plan on refining an improving more this year. For now though, I'm exhausted and will be taking a short break to recharge!

    Nice vid, p good list!
    14. Every manga adaptation wishes they could get the beyond-perfect treatment Yofukashi no Uta got. Great show.
    10. Same applies to Dressup Darling.
    5. Even more same to Chainsaw Man
    3. And again, for Bocchi the Rock. What a crazy year for stellar value-added anime adaptations of manga source material!

Ya, honestly this year could be summed up as the best year for adaptations. So many adaptations did justice to original material, we literally were spoiled lol.

As soon as I saw that Trigger was involved with Cyberpunk, I was definitely excited. I really hope they do some more tie in stuff like this in the future. It definitely left me wanting SO MUCH more. It would be really cool to see Trigger work with CDPR again in the future, maybe make a Witcher anime? Idk, I just really loved the crossover between the two studios and I was very satisfied.
2022 really was a great year for anime. I hadn't actually taken the time to sit down and watch seasonal anime since like 2016 but this year, so many shows caught my interest I actually started to watch seasonal anime again. And even found myself enjoying Chainsaw Man, which is different for me because I usually hate the mainstream shonen shows.

I’d be down to see Trigger do more project team ups or maybe more streaming releases. No broadcast restrictions gives them a lot to work with.

Thanks for making this bud. Always great to see your videos and I certainly wasn't expecting a 2022 breakdown. I am riddled with Goosebumps from scenes you chose (Made in Abyss S2 mostly.) Although I agree I feel the same about Chisato this year, gotta give it up for Faputa, Sosu. Never knew about the VA losing her voice playing the role either. Plus she plays Hawk from 7DS - cmon'. Best gurl. Always a pleasure to watch your content no matter what it is. I'm still holding out for Lyco Reco EP 2 abridged though

when Kaguya S3 dropped, i thought for sure it would once again become my anime of the year for the 3rd time in 4 years. Only one show could have challenged it but i didn't want to get my hopes up. That show being the second season of Made in Abyss.
But holy shit! They took one of the most captivating, gutwrenching and beautiful manga arcs i've ever read and turned it into such a breathtaking and complete anime with fantastic animation and sound design, superb voice acting and of course, the man himself KP at his absolute best.
When i got to your number one spot on the list i legit yelled out 'hell yeah!' lol
What a stacked year for good anime holy crap.
As for shows you didn't mention, that i enjoyed, i still haven't finished Ousama Ranking, but that show really took me by surprise and turned out to be a surprisingly mature show that subverted my expectations, given the artstyle (that was still 2022 right? Feels so long ago...) ,also My Master has no Tail was a delight to me.
It may not be the most technically impressive or revolutionary show of the year, but the wholesome characters were a joy to watch and the show genuinely got me interested in Rakugo.
Here's to more great anime in 2023 and more UDC videos as well

I've seen everything except Vanitas on this list, but could not agree more. I would only like to mention/include King's Ranking. This year was stacked byond belief
I'm honestly baffled how they want to keep this up in the coming years (and for now, the winter season is somewhat disappointing)

I definitely want enjoyed Ranking of Kings, though I think most of my enjoyment came from the first half. The second half kinda lost me… still good overall, but by the end, I couldn’t say I loved it. But ya, 2023 has a LOT to live up to.

it's trash, yep that's a hot take but i'm completely bored of the time travel/guy can't die concept. So annoying now it's been done too much. It's just a worse version of higurashi, re:Zero & tokyo revengers...I don't think i'd even put it in the top 5 time travel anime as bad as steins gate was i'd still put steins gate above summertime rendering

@@GrowingDownUnder You know, there might be a reason Steins Gate is ranked 3rd on MAL’s top anime list. Did you think of that? Chances are, if the majority of people think one thing and you think the opposite, you’d be the one in the wrong. Tokyo Revengers is the definition of mediocre. Takemichi is one of the most unlikeable and frustrating characters to have ever disgraced a screen. The show is carried by Mikey and Draken. I could go on about the terrible characterisations and how Summertime Rendering has much more compelling characters but it’s clear you’ve already formed your opinion.
Higurashi and Re Zero are very good tho. Personally, I found Summertime Render’s protagonist to be much less cringe than Subaru which helped a lot.

    • @GrowingDownUnder
      @GrowingDownUnder 6 місяців тому

@@sanuthweerasinghe7825popularity doesn't mean it's good lol. A lot of delusion fans think steins gate is good, but it's not. Look at what else is in the top 100 on MAL, literally some of the worst anime ever made like gintama and LOTGH. So yeah nah, MAL doesn't mean anything, it only means a lot of people watched it and liked it. Not the same as being good, at least you tried but you're still wrong
Also no, you really can't say summertime rendering has better characters than Tokyo revengers...if you think the show is carried by 2 characters well you're wrong. Naoto, and chifuyu are literally some of the main characters. You just admitted you didn't even watch tokyo revengers lol
And kisaki well he's the main villain and not really sure you can say his isn't a huge part of the story, he is like what drives the story the most. Without kisaki ruining the past, there is no tokyo revengers the story would be done and finished a long time ago.

I really enjoy Overlord, but I found most of what I liked about S4 to be in the latter half of the season rather than the entire season as a whole. Still like the series and am thinking of picking up the LN to dive a bit more into it.

      @UntilDawnCreeps  Рік тому +2

@@tsatan3484 I'll say that's what I appreciate most about Overlord. It feels like a pretty realistic take on the isekai genre, focusing more on how the world actually operates and the the maneuverings of one trying to slowly gain control of it rather than just a typical power fantasy. I'll have to check out that video series you mentioned though, I'm interested.

Am I the only person who thinks 2022 actually didn't really have many good anime to watch? maybe it's just because everything was sequels and anything that wasn't a sequel was pretty bad honestly. And even the sequels were all huge disappointments and some of the worst seasons so far.
