Loving the vids Russ, keep it going please. Son and I fished last weekend on 75 and 74, I had 3 9 pounders and a chunky chub and laddo had 4 barbel up to 10 - 8. Hope to bump into you on the bank sometime.
Thanks Chris appreciate the compliment. Being a Barnsley & District member i will be back trying different pegs and types of fishing. Looking to try different stretches of Trent on day ticket and night fishing. Tight lines pal
Thoughtless for who ?. This is a day ticket fishery and extra anglers on the bank is good business for Barnsley & District Angling whom may i say OWN THE FISHING RIGHTS. I'm guessing your one of the few syndicate members who would like to keep this stretch for a select few ?. Good news is i have no plans to film here in the near future but will be filming other stretches of the Trent which you may find interesting. Thanks for your input. Tight lines
Talking of fish welfare i didn't fish any rivers since the beginning of summer until now due to low river levels and low oxygenated water. I publicly backed the Barbel Society for closing their fisheries during the summer can you say the same ?. Cromwell weir is booked all season and matches fished regular i don't see anyone complaining of fish welfare. You should thank your lucky stars i'm not one of the Anti Angling Brigade shouting Cruelty ban angling. Fortunately more than nine hundred anglers follow my channel so i must be doing something right, i think i can put up with the odd selfish moaning angler like yourself. If you don't like then don't watch,. Conversation Ended
Good Stuff Russ, Lovely condition Double that one. Nice to see you back on the Trent. Have you ever tried Sweetcorn for them down there? as I've had some memorable Barbel catches on it in the past around Collingham. All the best on your next trip pal ;)
Ok I think I might go for it... you went for the 2lb didn't you, so what was your thinking on 1.75 vs 2lb? Like is that because you tend to be on huge rivers in flood? I would be doing more modest stuff, at least for starting out, so would I be better of with 1.75 for now and getting stronger bite detection and picking up chub and having a bit more fun versus going for big beasty barbels as a specimen hunter, or is the 2lb easy to use even on smaller river and fish? I've got a Shimano Baitrunner DL4000FB I was gonna use with the rod. Sorry to be laying in the questions but never been barbel fishing before.
If your not targeting double figure barbel like the trent when its up a bit then the 1.75lb should be fine. I use the 2lb on smaller rivers like the river Don but i do target barbel. Before buying i usually check tackle reviews out on youtube
Excellent video showing how to net and rest a barbel before removing it from the water for unhooking, I too have not been on the rivers this summer due to the conditions. Fish welfare should override the desire to go fishing when conditions are like they have been, well done mate.
Cheers Chris, its been a soul destroying season refraining from fishing rivers but your right fish welfare comes above the urge to fish when rivers have poor oxygen content. Thanks for watching
@@ukfishingvlog thanks Russ I used some guru the other day I caught on it presentation wise I think it's bang on I didn't like how easily it seemed to damage though seemed to handle very little abrasion
Nice vid Pal Its not been the best conditions for the Rivers this Season but theres time yet. Thanks for sharing, Graham.
Thanks, hopefully get a few sessions in before winter sets in.
Lovely looking Barbel you had there, well done.
Cheers Ian mate

What make of fluorocarbon can you recommend as I have had problems with it snapping.
I use 12lb Ultima Power Carp, 12lb Berkley Trilene and 8lb Ultima Virage
Hi Russ can you park near any of the pegs as I have a back problem.
Theres no parking next to the pegs, the closest pegs from car park are about 80 yrds

Yes a cracking stretch to fish
Unfortunately these videos are ruining what was a very good fishery . Too much publicity is ruining it .
Thoughtless videos .

Good business or fish welfare?
Exactly what I mean , thoughtlessness.

a great stretch, i fish the peg opposite quite often
I think so too, keep thinking of running a stick float down on centrepin for silvers.

Tried everything but worm, sweetcorn seems to attract roach and bream so stick to large boilies and pellets Pete.
Hair rig 3 pieces,thats a great method.
awesome video mate, well done, liked and subscribed :)
Thanks pal, subbed in return
Nice. Just putting together some kit for barbel... do you rate those Korum rods?
For £49 per rod money well spent
