    I think I'm good with the method without a seed phrase because technically you need the card to sign any transaction. So, I just need to figure out where to hide the cards.

      Actually seed/seedless are same. Because seed/seedless are generated unique private key, then stored in media (card/chip/something similar). So if someone looking for wallet, the one they looking for is private key not seed phrase even it use 24 words. Basically it is same.

    In the long run its better to have a seed phrase. No one knows what future technologies are awaiting us :) Card can become obsolete when over some time after social rating comes in. (after ~20+ years). In short run its better without seed phrase. Nice video by the way!

      Great to hear you have your system in place. Security is the key but also human error has one of the biggest parts to play in crypto. There has been massive amounts of crypto lost forever simply because users weren't educated on how to backup their seed phrases/passphrases etc, glad to hear you are using The Vault to mitigate this risk :)

Quick question.- if I take an older iPhone 14 that I used to use.- and run a factory reset on it- would that be secure enough to set up one of my tangem cards and import my own seed phrase using your method? Would you feel comfortable that a factory reset would do the job on getting rid of any malware that could’ve been present before? How do we know for sure that tangem can't see or log the seed phrase the min it's generated by their app by some hidden back door software hack that the government or someone else can see when you don't even know. The app is connected to the internet when the seed phrase is generated so isn't that a security issue ?

      I use multiple seed phrases, I dont have all my portfolio on one seed phrase. You should never have all your wealth in one place because then it is a single attack vector. The way I do it is I have a master key and create a seed stack from that.

    I'm lost and frustrated trying to set up my Tangem cards. I'm confused when the term "importing a wallet" is used. Does that mean I'm importing a previously created wallet at another company? Or does the word "importing" also mean "creating"? Can I actually create a NEW wallet with a seed phrase I've chosen - rather than a seed phrase randomly chosen for me by Tangem? I would rather create my own seed phrase. Also, you did not explain the whole pass-phrase thing Tangem requires. The explanation for that at their website is incomprehensible to me. I thought Tangem was supposed to be easy!! Ugh!

    • @BetterHumanz
      @BetterHumanz  4 місяці тому

      When you import a wallet it just means your importing your "Seed Phrase" .. If you generated that Seed phrase using another wallet like for example "MetaMask" then you most likely already have crypto on it and that crypto will display and be available in Tangem if you import that Seed phrase. You can create a new Seed Phrase and select the import option in Tangem then import your own Seed phrase. Tangem doesn't require a passphrase that is an option you can use if you want to.

    • @timlangford8678
      @timlangford8678 4 місяці тому

      @@BetterHumanz Thank you for a very understandable and quick reply. I wish they called it "IMPORT or CREATE wallet" - which would make it more understandable to first-time users. However, the Tangem website article on importing a wallet makes it sound like adding a passphrase is not optional, but required. The app interface also makes it seem required. Plus, Tangem advises against importing a wallet with a passphrase - calling it TOO MUCH security (that can go wrong if you lose it). So honestly I'm afraid to even try putting in my own seed phrase in. I might just suck up the loss - throw the cards away - and try another wallet platform that allows you to create your own seed phrase (if that's even a thing). I'm learning as I go but it's a steep curve. Thanks again for getting me a little further down the road.

      You would only use your seed phrase in another wallet if you needed to, there is no reason to have it in many wallets because the more it is exposed the more chance it could get compromised. I do not recommend using your "MasterKey" online anyway so any seed phrase you use online should only hold smaller amounts of crypto. As for recovery with a seed phrase and passphrase, there are a few wallets that allow this, Rabby is one of them that is a good option but if you want to ensure more security you can import your seed phrase and passphrase using an offline device, I will do a video for this.

    Question 🙋
    Let’s say you created a wallet using seed phrase on the tangem app.
    What if you import that seed phrase to other app then what’s the purpose of the tangem card now? Can you still use it to sign in the transaction made on the other app with same seed phrase?

      Your seed phrase can be imported into any crypto wallet that has that option, and most do. The purpose of Tangem is to allow you to make transactions with your assets attached to that seed phrase, and to make it simple and secure. There are many wallets you can use but Tangem is one of the easiest and most convenient.

    Sorry but i need to be blunt.
    A person is a fool if they DON'T go with the seed phrase.
    How man have had chips in debit or credit cards stop working? I had 8 debit cards with chips fail in only 18 months.
    If the chips fail YOU LOSE EVERYTHING stored by that walket!
    With a seed phrase buy another Tangem, Ledger, Trezor. Choose restore walket option; type in the seed phrase and in a minute or so everything is available.
    Would NEVER use wallet without the seed phrase option

      Agree.. If you have your seed you will always have access to your crypto.

      @@BetterHumanz yes the seed phrase is a little extra work, and you have to be more security conscious to not let the seed phrase fall into the wrong hands but it's nowhere insurmountable.
      NEVER EVER
      Take a screenshot of your seed phrase;
      Share the seed phrase with ANYONE!
      Back up your seed phrase to the cloud!
      Those 3 rules will keep you safe.
      Why did I include backing up to the cloud.
      If the government serves a warrant to access your cloud storage the company will comply and your crypto will GO BYE BYE

      Better humanz; I agree with everything you just said.
      I wouldn't consider a Bitcoin ETF for long term holdings for many reasons
      1. The US government confiscated gold in 1933 executive order 6061 if memory serves
      2. If the government HAS EVEN MORE debt they may confiscate the Bitcoin in exchanges
      3. The stock company holding your paper Bitcoin could go out of business
      4. An employee at the exchange could send the Bitcoin to their wallet stealing your savings
      5. A hacker hacking into an exchange could steal everything. Binance was hacked TWICE
      In my opinion; THERE'S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR SELF CUSTODY

    Why can't Tangem just allow the user to backup the seed phrase?

      Because then it would mean you have access on the device and it is stored.

    “Hidden portfolio without any device” - are you talking about a passphrase? A passphrase still requires a device.

      No a hidden portfolio with a passphrase doesnt need a device. You just need to use a tool to decrypt it when you want to make a cold storage transaction.

    Seed phrase- I listened to tangem that it’s better not too. Wait until you get stuck pending ETH transaction and the whole card locked up. Transactions never end.
    With a seed phrase I could open up in meta mask or other wallets with advanced features, but with Tangem my money wasted.

      Full self custody means you have your own seed phrase, always do it that way if you can.

    i thought that if you lose your phone and you dont have a seedphrase, you can still recover your funds. it was explicitly explained by other utubers.

      If you have your cards then yes.. your cards have the private keys.. so if you lost your phone and your seed phrase you could simply buy another phone then install the tangem app and tap your cards and enter your pin and your in... but no one in their right mind would ever lose their seed phrase unless they have not learned how important they are. You must always back it up on a physical device.. I created software specifically to back up your seed phrase so you would never have to worry about forgetting or misplacing it.. it is called The Vault.
