I did one book before watching Jared's series and my second will be much easier and better. Most other Book Module tutorials are much too superficial. Jared has put a lot of effort into telling us the process in detail, how to actually put the book together, not just reviewing menus. Jared is an expert in not only Lightroom but also in teaching.

This is an excellent series of "How to" by Jared Platt. It really explains the many options for putting together a professional-looking Blurb book. I will be watching this several times while putting together my photo book.

I really liked the talk of the flow. I'm doing a wedding book, so 3/4 of it is about the ceremony. I found that selection of the cover was right about 1/2 way though that process. At that point, the flow seemed set and the cover then made sense. Richard and I often like doing things in different orders.
    Thanks!!!

Thanks, Jared! Great timing as I'm in the middle of a time-pressure first three books I have to get created...by Christmas so hahaha after a 2x speed view here I'm off and running in under an hour! Thanks so much to help take some of the cursing out of the Lightroom design experience :)

Thank you Jared! You have demystified the LRC bookmaking process in a very clear, easy to follow, and enjoyable manner.

Making a book through blurb is on my to do list. Glad to see Jared here for I took the LR boot camp course from Jared thru CreativeLive and he is an excellent teacher. Glad I stumbled upon this video. Looking forward to watching the rest. Thanks!

This was a really informative video and helped me get to grips with designing a book in Lightroom for the first time. However, I never ended up buying the book from Blurb. It was just too expensive right now. But, thankfully, you have the option to export the pages as JPEG or PDF - which I did and used another printer for the book.

Great video! I'm going through it step by step to create a book. Do you have any videos about editing photos for print so that the colors and brightness of the images look correct when printed? Thanks!

Great content! Could you do a follow-up video or video edit that discusses how dark images might be expected to look on paper versus a backlit monitor (screen calibration considerations) including color space (RGB vs CMYK) and sharpening requirements? Apparently LR will automatically sharpen images for the purposes of printing.

Unfortunately, Lightroom does not support CMYK, so any edits in Lightroom will have to be translated to CMYK by Blurb's printers. This can result in images looking dark or de-saturated (speaking from experience). I suppose a workaround would be to save as a PDF, import that to Photoshop, color correct in CMYK then output back to PDF. Maybe Jared has some feedback here?

Jared great stuff!! I am having difficulty though with finding missing files in the book module. I looked it up and it said to go to the develop module and under library go to find all photos. I did that and it didn't do the job. Also is there any wya around fixing photos that are low in resolution and will print badly

Jared, very comprehensive tutorial. But I must ask as I am confused when visiting the blurb website… If I am using the LRC for creating my book, do I need to worry about the color profile, specially if I am printing BW photos? According to blurb website, I have to change the color profile to theirs and I need photoshop to change the color space to sRGB… in addition to this, do I need to do soft-proofing first? I have followed all the steps in your tutorial but I am stuck at the printing and I appreciate if you can help me with this.

Question... If I made a hard cover 10"x8" photo book and send to Blurb. But, I also want to make a soft cover of the same book with everything being the same except the cover, do I just change from hard cover to soft cover and re-send to Blurb..?

Is it possible to put photos on the inside of the front and back covers?

Question. How do I know how images will look on the paper Blurb uses. Do you download an ICC profile and view it before you send?

Great and informative video. On another note...Blurb totally botched production on a gift book (didn't cut the pages and left the trim markings). All they did was give me a Blurb credit (not a refund), which was the least they can do, and because of ruining the gift I couldn't give, offered 50% off another photo book. Left a bad taste in my mouth and was a horrible way to make up for such a blunder.

I somehow have lost the "clear book" and "save book" options in the process of making a book. If I start a new book they appear again. How can I get that back into the book I am currently working on? Thanks

Never mind, I now see that it is now saved automatically. Have ben using PS for 25 years and Lightroom has always puzzled me. But determined to publish this book.

Comments all over the internet for years trying to get Blurb to explain their colour profiling process and what happens between software like lightroom and photoshop and what Blurb does to the colours. Even in these 6 plus videos it’s totally ignored. This seems extraordinary. The book in this example was near $300 for 1 book, and yet no information about the colour space or how to maximise quality for print. That’s a lot of money if the colours aren’t what you photographed / worked on in your calibrated monitor and software.

You spend too much time on the cover. It should be the last thing.
