    Photo books are a great way of organizing and preserving your photos. I’ve done a dozen or more, mostly travel and family events. I’ve been very happy with Shutterfly which lets you create books without the intercession of Lightroom.

    Fun to watch as always, something I will start applying to my photo pile. Better than having them sitting in an external hard drive box. Thanks to you and some other nature-friendly Vloggers I got going now too. Seven videos far and no, I don't mind the isolation and distancing, nature is loving it and so am I! Thank you Steve! Nice demo...I’ve made a few blurb books of RV trips such as Alaska, the Maritimes and of course the Teton/Yellowstone area. We always have a copy in our RV to share with fellow campers who want to learn about the places we’ve been or places on their bucket list. I make my RV version a bit smaller and with a soft cover. It fits better in our small RV and quite a bit cheaper than the large hard covered versions.

    Big Kudos to you for doing this. It's obvious that most you tube photographers don't have a clue what to do since they can't travel.
    I travel a lot and take my camera a lot, so I'm stuck too. But let's not whine about it or pretend to be a commentator on extraneous stuff.
    You kept to the subject and came up with a good video. I can do a few books, and now I know how to do it. I even stopped the video to open Lightroom, just to see if I had the book heading.
    Thanks

    Great video! I just went through the work of doing some research video on producing a photo book from a recent vacation. Apple used to use their own services to print books/cards/calendars etc. They stopped the printing of products sadly.
    After a quick Google search, I used Mimeo Photos App that I found the Apple App Store. Next book I produce I will be trying out Blurb and using Lightroom. Looks much easier to use and move images/add images etc. Cheers!

    Hi Steve, thanks for the video. I always do a photo book when I come back from safari. As others have said, a book is a nice way of getting away from the computer screen. Here in the UK, I have found Photobox good and not too expensive if you wait for their offers. Stay safe all.

    Great video ! I’ve been using the Book module for a few years now and love it; I create at least two books a year. The only problem I have is with texting the captions - I set the font size to 12 and try to save it as the default but it doesn’t save it: it always reverts to its own default. Other than that, it’s a great marriage between LR and Blurb.

    Glad to see you use Blurb for creating books as well. Do you find you have to over-saturate the pictures a bit in order to have them out just right? Last time (which was a week ago) I found the pictures came out a bit desaturated than on my computer screen. Thanks.

    I am a recent subscriber to your channel. I am enjoying the process of watching many of your earlier productions. I particularly appreciated this one about idling Lightroom and Blurb to create books. I did a number of books some years back, but stopped doing it when the book company I was using closed down the service after they were purchased by ShutterFly. You have inspired me to try again. We also live in the GYE, but closer to YNP than GTNP. I hope to try one of your private workshops in the future.

    Very cool, Steve. Thanks for doing this. Any tips on editing your images for print? I know a common issue is printed images turning out darker than they appear on screen. Would be a shame to order a book and have it filled with a bunch of dark(er) images. Thanks again.

    If you edit your raw photos and save them on the computer as JPEGS, then later want to put them in a book using LR, can you bring the JPEGS back into LR to put them into a book....?
    Or do you have to use RAW files, edit them in LR or PS, the right into the book?

    Not to get deep into the weeds, but how does one ensure that there is sufficient resolution so that those resized and blown up images don’t get too pixelated as to look bad? After all, this is a book and people will be right up on it do you typically need say 265 ppi to make pixelation disappear, right? I guess what i want to hear is thag the software up-rezzing the images behind the scene so they always look good. Yay or nay? Thanks.

    Great video. Slight clarification…this video is for Lightroom Classic, not Lightroom. If someone came to this video actually using Lightroom (non-Classic), the way to make a book there is to use a Lightroom “Connection” to Share photos to Blurb. (helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-cc/using/save-share-photos.html#connections). This is a problem with how Adobe names things, not a problem with this video.

  • @fritzsound

    I have had the experience that photos, copy and photo captions will go away for no reason. Then the program will not recognize the photo to reinsert. At that point it must be reimported. I will say my process is spread over several days, maybe you should knock it out in an hour or two.

    • @SteveMattheis
      @SteveMattheis  4 роки тому +1

      Hmmm I haven't had that problem before. But maybe make sure you click 'create saved book' before you quit Lightroom?

  • @giuseppecapilli4914
    @giuseppecapilli4914 4 роки тому

    Sorry Steve, but Blurb sucks for the B&W images. I had one recently printed and it had magenta dominance in many photo, I complained to Blurb and they graciously promised to send me a new copy with no flaws. The second book had exactly the same problem with a different color dominance. I complained again and they told me this time that Blur does not have a dedicated printer for B&W photos, and they do it with a color printing, hence the color dominances, which is, of course, a lie. I print B&W images with my color Epson printer and it does not happen to me, unless I make some mistake. I asked them to refund me for the book, and never received a reply. So I keep warning people to NOT use Blurb for B&W images. Thank you for your very well done videos and contents.

    • @SteveMattheis
      @SteveMattheis  4 роки тому

      Bummer, I sorry to hear that. My experience is that it hasn't been a problem. Have you found a printer that you're happy with?
