Thank you for talking about the pressure regulator and what to do with the air lines ...no one else on UA-cam covered that.

Excellent, thanks, but you've stated some incorrect info.
    1) The EGR system _lowers_ combustion temperature and reduces NOX emissions. However, it pumps oily exhaust gunk into the engine to do so. _IMO,_ this is self-defeating, both in terms of emissions and combustion temps, and also performance and fuel economy, because carbon deposits build-up in the cylinders and on the intake valves over time. Basically, the EGR system gets a new, sparkling-clean engine through an EPA emissions certification test, and that's all the factory really cares about. Down the road, it makes a horrible mess, one consequence of which are combustion chamber 'hot-spots', which ironically lead to engine 'knock'.
    2) The air pump actually makes the catalytic converters heat up _faster_ by pumping air into the exhaust stream, which causes unburnt fuel to ignite and generate heat that activates the catalyst function. This helped get the engine through EPA 'cold-start' emissions testing. The later development of 'wide-band' oxygen sensors allowed for better air-fuel ratio control and eliminated the need for air pumps.

Would love to see some vacuum details for what’s routed where. I picked up an 86 C4 and it’s been modified a lot like you’ve just done. BUT, I’ve got vacuum line that are not connected and don’t have a clue where to start. The factory manuals are not clear. Then added the mods it equals super confusing.

I’m in the process of doing the same thing to an ’87. My question is about the vacuum lines. Since the A/C, Air Pump and associated relays, switches etc. have been removed, where do the vacuum lines go? I know the fuel pressure regulator, brake booster and cruise control need vacuum, but are there other items that need it also to run the car properly? AND, what is used as a source for those lines? Brake booster and cruise control come from the rear of the intake, I believe. The Pressure regulator comes from the small nipple on the lower passenger side of the intake. What else am I missing?
