Burrowing Owl - Rattle Snake Call
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 тра 2016
- This burrowing owl was filmed at Santa Rosa Ranch in Florida during a flooding event. It is making what is sometimes called the rattle snake call. It is used to warn away unwanted visitors. The almost fledged young was displaced from its burrow by the flooding.

When I lived in Cooper city these guys were like landmines. You would be just walking down the sidewalk with your dog at night and suddenly you are assaulted with a blood curdling screech of an owl burrowed under the sidewalk
There’s still a bunch of them around here
They are infesting florida now and nothing we can do but to sacrifice pieces of land for them.
That's awesome!!! There's a bunch were I live...but out in the sticks not in town
I usually don't comment, but I have to share this. I was in the woods and needed to crap so I ducked off. Got crozy with my stance, and this devil owl basically did the rest.
Omg he's so precious ❤
I am listening to this tonight. They’re going crazy out there. Thanks for having us video.
Quite a scary little dude!
it's like "there's a great big snake next to you, ooga booga booga!"
Even scary if it were at night you can't tell if it is a rattle snake or not, but why take that chance?
How cool, I have a few of these guys who follow me sometimes and I uploaded to channel. I thought it was a baby screech owl learning to screech, guess not
Thanks for upload and God Bless
Evolution is awesome
So dang cute wish humans liked animals more instead of need to kill everything & anything they see
It's the owl version of Pinky from Friday lmao.
Wow. TOUGH guy.
Intimidation 100

Crazy how God gave them that trait!!!
It's not that crazy if you know how natural selection and evolution work. They live in burrows (where rattlesnakes are common), so the burrowing owls which had a rattlesnake-sounding call had a better chance at repelling mammalian predators (who know that a rattlesnake rattle is bad news). These burrowing owls with the rattlesnake call died less frequently to mammal predators and were able to make more babies than burrowing owls that DIDN'T have rattlesnake calls.
Is it still cool? For sure. But they weren't "given" that trait by any godlike figure. The trait was the result of natural selection and evolution.
@@averydart give it a rest bro
@@averydart; People love to diminish or poo-poo evolution when they don’t understand it. But they sure don’t mind taking antibiotics when they get sick; ie.., they don’t mind benefiting from evolution. 🤣🙄
