Thumbs up, both for the build itself, including the resourceful use of feathers to represent this particular boat´s signature palm leaves, and for the excellent video, with its cogent rundown of the mods necessary to make this generic model into THE PBR and to solve the handling problem.
I was a PBR sailor in the Mekong delta near Chau Doc and we did mostly night time ambushes in the canal systems near the Cambodian border and out into the Gulf of Cambodia. Stationed out of Rach Gia for a while also. The boat can turn in it's own length at high speed by digging into the chines. You need to hang on! On one of our infrequent liberties, we had to take a film crew out on the river near Binh Thuy(our supply center) and didn't want to waste what little time we had off to relax. The film crew wanted to see film the boat doing a high speed turn. The boat captain saw this as an opportunity to cut this trip short so he got up to speed, the boat crew braced for the turn, the unaware film crew lost their expensive movie camera over the side and we got to go on liberty. LOL.
Sorry to bother you but,I wondered if you could give me some insight onto things commonly found on the decks of these PBR's.Im making up a model of one of these boats but struggling to find many references of deck clutter most of the shots are taken at water level from the shore,so far iv got some MCI ration packs, tiny boxs of malbro cigarettes mop a broom and a bin

Terry, The question I have for you is ,on the forward gun turret is to make it turn with the steering do you tap into the wire of that servo to make the gun turn with the steering?? Thanks, Keith From U.S.A.
The water problem could be from the inside in the hull near the motors or, a defect. I bet if it was coming from inside, hot glue it. No one would see the glue.

I would like to do that RC sound card idea. Would any of those RC sound modules on eBay work for this? What I'm seeing on eBay it looks like they come in a housing, the speakers inside a housing with the sound card obviously I assume. I would just tear that apart to take the speaker out to glue it right on the hull of the boat correct?
I'm not familiar with the eBay sound modules. I used the Mr RC Sound v4.1 system with a transducer. Assuming the eBay systems are relatively similar, I don't think that just gluing a speaker to the hull will have the same effect. You want just the transducer portion of the speaker attached to the hull...effectively making the hull the speaker cone. I've never ripped apart a speaker for that purpose, so I don't know how well that would work compared to a dedicated transducer.
No reverse. I'm not sure what you mean by the center deck...but it's all stock methods of retention. The cabin is a friction fit and has pins to align it. The area behind that (with the M-60 mount) is the battery hatch and is held in place with magnets. The rear deck (with single M-2) is screwed in place.
@@Weirdflight The rear deck has no magnet attachment and no magnets included!?? Yeah, reverse throttle and the motors turn but the boat receives no reverse thrust. Strange. Do you have any pix of the magnet hold down? Thanks
Hallo Mr. Dunn, first of all i like to say to you, that i love your video. Please can you tell me more about the soundsystem you use in the boat. Hi Terry, I have a question. Is the turret connected with the steeringservo by a rod? Or did you use a Y-servocable and connect it with same channel as the steeringservo? Nice video by the way! I also saw your report on tested. Great work! Thanks a lot! Grtz Rudy
Thanks! The turret attaches directly to the output shaft of a dedicated servo. The transmitter I use has mixing options. So, I set up a mix with steering as master and the turret as slave. Using a switch on the TX, I can make it so that the turret turns in the same direction or opposite of the steering. A y-cable would work just as well, but you would not have the ability to choose turret direction. I would eventually like to attach the turret servo to an arduino or pi programmed to randomize its movement.
Probably, no certainly the best presentation and detail I have viewed to date....Thank you

Nice job, mine is on similar lines, lets face it the only PBR that any one knows of is erebus....
how tall is the action figures
What did you use to keep the figure in place?
small dabs of Household GOOP
the drain plug lets in water...what can we do about that ?
There are sailor figures out there if you look hard enough. Just saying. Nice model 👌
What spec battery did use? An EC3 but what MAH? 5000 ? 2200 ? 3300?
I typically use a 2-cell 2200mAh LiPo.
OK, thanks
