- We head to Reubens Farrier competition to see how he does! We have no idea what to expct and have never gone to anything like this. There were about 40ish farriers there competing. They had mutiple classes and was a two day event. We only went for Saturday afternoon though.

Oliver is a two year old Clydesdale stallion that we rescued March 2023 with the help of our viewers. He was very sick when we first got him and REALLY Underweight. He has come a long way and made a full recovery from EPM. He is now well and strong enough to start training to pull and eventually ride (Of course with the ok from our vet and chiropractor). i've delivered concrete to an Amish crew out of Missouri who builds chicken houses down in Arkansas. I'm always impressed with their work ethics. they're always professional and friendly, and enjoyed interacting with them.
Ruben is a wonderful person. You had mentioned you wanted to get another Clydesdale. On line it said they are ruffling off a filly. If you get to go, don't forget to bring your trailer. Ruben will have many people cheering him on next year.

I found this very interesting to watch! The skills they have developed and the sheer physical strength and endurance are incredible! I appreciated learning about how they customize the fit for the horse and it's needs. Thanks for covering this event! I was SO looking forward to this..l have been a pest keep asking if you're still going to support Reuben ..l loved it..I'm a 64 Yr old townie but l think the skill of a good farrier like Reuben is amazing to watch..its damn hard work and such a skill.. I have seen 1 woman doing it..l can't remember which horse rescue chanel it was on though..but its much harder for a woman l think to control that horse if it doesn't want to cooperate .. l was so pleased that Reuben was first.. and it actually shows you the respect the judges had for him and his skills that they tried to bend the rules a bit for him.. but Reuben wouldn't have that..he made an error and he'd stand by that.. to be honest l think if that judge had the time again he wouldn't actually say anything..but Reuben still didn't give up and walk away..he still competed knowing he wouldn't finish..that tells you what kind of man he is.. and to take it as a lesson learned and say it gives him more opportunity to learn when if he'd won he'd have qualified for the Open Championship where only THE best farriers are..Next year Reuben..!! Hopefully JR will be there cheering you on again..l found it so interesting..thank you for going to support him and coming away with such profound learning.
I'm sure knowing Reuben that means a lot to him.. look at the size of those shoes..and now Oliver has gone up another size..!! He's definitely a growing lad..just shows you what exercising is doing for his body..l do think he will be 17 hands at least..even maybe 18..hard to say as he's still relatively young..and still has growing to do..look forward to the next video update..God Bless you all..🇬🇧💕🙏👍👏🐎🧲🇺🇸

I imagine -- could b wrong - that the work ethic the Amish have is why Rubin could take the positive out of the situation. His satisfaction comes from the effort not the winning. So many of us only want the win, unfortunately.

There is a very show on History Channel called Forged in Fire and they have some video on UA-cam as well. It's very interesting and there are a few women competing over the years. 😃😃

I’m a new subscriber, but even though there were few shots of horses in this episode, it was my favorite so far. Those farriers and their work are so amazing in the 21st century.

What an extremely fascinating video of a Farrier competition!
I saw a really cool horseshoe art work today (photograph) of a Christian cross made from old horseshoes---by a Veteran who lost his job during the lockdowns. It was quite beautiful the intricate way he reforged the shoes, but you could still tell they had been horseshoes.

Interesting competition as I would think in the field the ferrier would be able to dry fit the shoe and adjust as he goes along but here it's a one shot deal.
I was waiting for this horseshoe competition w/Rueben to drop...awesome video footage showing Rueben competing. As always, interesting & informative!
