I’ve had the CD “Tony Rice Sings Gordon Lightfoot” for a long time but I’ll still click on these songs whenever they come up in my UA-cam recommendations….(or any other Tony Rice or Gordon Lightfoot songs for that matter) Masterful artist for sure.
hahah hell yea...i miss his sweet sweet voice...i met him last year back stage and he played a riff on his martin only i heard. it was special....he's a really nice person.
makes every song he sings his own. Production, instrumentation and that beautiful voice. A true artist. I can understand why Alison Krauss loved him so much
Gordon Lightfoot’s long-time lead guitarist Terry Clements was no slouch either. Tony Rice said he had the opportunity to play his covers of Lightfoot’s songs for Lightfoot backstage someplace, and said that Lightfoot seemed amused.
William Beekman, Gord Lightfoot is pretty darned good too. Tony does so many Lightfoot songs so well, he interprets the mood perfectly. And you can tell there is a wonderful connection he feels towards Gord's tunes. Let's appreciate them both!
What a clear, sparkling, elegant and timeless rendition of this Lightfoot classic.
I miss Tony Rice so much 😢 He did Gordon Lightfoot songs like no one else!
Tony was a true master of his instrument. Joining the likes of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Django!
Tony is one of my absolute favorites! Grew up with this album....love it!!!
I miss him
We're all missing you terribly already, farewell Tony
Fare Thee Well ❤️
This is the best version of Early Morning Rain ever recorded IMHO.
I love Gordon Lightfoot and his version, but this version rules.

I had no idea such an album existed, glad I do now though. Cheers.
My favorite from Tony. Such a beautiful song. Gives me cold chills no matter how many times I listen to it.
Same!
All respect to Gord in my opinion this is the definitive version of Early Morning Rain....Tony sure could channel Gord...
just found my new favorite artist
Welcome, my friend.
I feel sad for the 7 people who dislike this. Sad.
Thank you Tony from the bottom of my heart .
I literally cry every time I hear his version. I've been there.
This was the sound track for every lazy Sunday morning for a time in my life, now forever in my memory! Love me some Tony!

Best bluegrass vocals ever imo
One of my favorites. Jerry puts on a clinic! A perfect example of how to play fills around a singer!
Goosebumps
A true treasure of a song...I love to hear Tony sing and play!

Perfection sounds like this.
Our little trio, COUNTY SWITCH, has been doing this one for years and it never gets old!
EXCELLENT
The Best

Great artist, surely is missed
Another great loss to the world of music. 2020 is shithouse. RIP tony.
I do so wish he'd gotten with Gordon & done an album together.
I can only imagine the magic it would have produced.

RIP Gordon Lightfoot. I hope there’s a Tony Rice waiting in your next one.
Perfection!
Wonderful
better than the Original!
Last vocal chorus at 2.40. Beautiful.
I grew up with bluegrass, but was always somewhat disappointed with the vocals until tony Rice hit the the scene and raised the bar for everyone!

Search all the planets, you'll never find a vocal tone like this.
Reminds of Big E singing the same.
