No one can play the guitar like Tony Rice, and no one ever will! Hes my all time favorite and love his voice. I've seen him preform many times and think hes the altimate artist ever
gordon lightfoot is a songwriter par excellence while tony is a guitarist par excellence.one should always remember this before making unnecessary comparisons.anyway this version of shadows is brilliant because tony"s lonesome, hauntingly beautiful bluegrass voice and guitar work beautifully renders the melancholiness of the lyrics of this song.love and power to both tony and gordon from india
Only discovered Tony Rice in the last 10 years maybe. Like discovering a new music genre. His vocals are so calming. His guitar playing is another dimension. 🎶❤️💪✌️🙏
For you my love, you decided to live another life without me … i think of you everyday since … and it kills me .. Thank you for posting this wonderful art of Tony Rice
The "Minstrel of the Dawn" who wrote this song - has now also walked on. RIP our Canadian musical poet laureate - Gordon Lightfoot. The Detroit Mariner's Cathedral Bells rang 30 times, this time - 29 for the seamen who perished on The Edmund Fitzgerald - and one for our Gordon. He was Tony's favourite songwriter - and I've no doubt they are playing together, now . . .
What i wouldent give for a copy of Native American on vinyl. Been searching up here in Canada for years...can anyone point me in the right direction? Rip tony....my guitar hero ❤
@@zachd5242 Yes and he will just get better and better. Listen to the discography of Tony Rice and his mellow voice and perfect finger picking style..Billy is excellent.Someday he will be a master like Tony, just unique in a different way.
You cant compare billy strings to Tony. He might can play the guitar somewhat comparable to Tony but he will never have the voice. Tony was on a totally different level. RIP Tony.
What a beautiful song
RIP Tony Rice 12/25/2020...you were so loved...
This has been one of my favorite songs for a long time, but I keep coming back to it after Tony stepped into the shadows. RIP.

Such a great talent - sad that he's passed. Saw him once in concert - amazing. RIP
RIP Mr Rice. You will be missed.
My friend Adam (who works for Guitar Center) just introduced me to this guy. I have born again, again musically.
Good for you..welcome to a real guitar player..flat picking style

Tonys solo on this, and Billy strings solo on dust in a baggie, live at the opry, are my two fave bluegrass guitar solos
With Jerry Douglas, it doesn't get better than the.
One of my favorite albums!!!!
One of my top five favorite guitarists....
Rip Tony and Gordy ❤
Love you, Tony.
How boring the guitar world would have been without Tony's guitar.
Great. Song.
No one has the guitar style of Tony Rice. .

Lg Mayes agreed. Billy is an excellent musician but no where near the expertise of Tony Rice.

@@bobthabuilda1525 there’s a lot of people that do
I must admit I'm torn between Gordi's original and Tony's unbelievable cover - it would be like choosing between your two children,,,,
hope you've heard his acoustic version on Church Street Blues
There aren't many Rice recordings I haven't heard.

and i love you just in case you didn't know.
Wow Tony sounds EXACTLY like Gordo here. Great version though.
Gordon Lightfoot did write this from his 1982 album by the same name. It's a good rendition but not as good as the "Master" himself GL
