I have been trying to find a video to help me install my Sakura buttons but their video is too fast. I found another tutorial but that video was also too fast. Your pace is a lot better and easier to follow than the other 2 videos. Thank you.
Hey you're welcome, sorry if my voice is to loud I'm working on my mic settings again after I just did an SSD upgrade and fresh install of Windows lol on my dektop. So I hope this helps, I am planning another teardown of my Blue Max next week which will be more comfortable. I'm going to take close up pictures while doing it. But glad this helped, I have years of experience tearing small stuff down and putting it back together.
My odin 2 is making a weird clicking sound from the left side close to the l2 button when I move the odin around. Idk what's causing it but I'm not having any issues playing games or anything. I just think it's weird and kind of annoying.
The heat plate described at 11:35 came loose inside my Odin2. It drove me crazy until I opened it up to find this loose piece of metal that had been moving around. I took it out and closed it back up. Haven't had an issue yet.
@@scottc9981 yeah that piece can be re-glued or stuck on with some electronic double sided tape. I think the purpose of it is because they may have found issues with the heat dissipation of the device causing the plastic from the joystick to warp. But I personally have never experienced issues like this so until then I can't really confirm.
It's not that difficult honestly, I used to do cell phone repairs and the Odin 2 is really simple if you take your time. It might be scary looking but it really isn't.
@@SuperDarthKelly heck I tore down the OneXPlayer recently and even it was put together well. I'm almost believing OneXPlayer/Ayn/Retroid are all the same company. The internals looks very very similar it's really strange unlike the internals of the Steam Deck/Rog Ally/Anbernic devices I own. Oh and no problem, hope you subscribed!
I plan to do a picture and another video guide, now that I know what I'm getting into it's really not as scary to be truthfully honest. The only thing that is the scary part is the volume and power button which isn't really necessary to change. The right side was the easier side too I didn't realize I'd be starting with the hard side of the device when I opened it up lol. But I feel more confident doing it again which I will definitely in the near future for the Blue Max model!
Thanks for an awesome video. I followed everything meticulously but I must have done something because my odin no longer detects the sd slot. Do you have any idea what I may have done?
I really don't know how to help other than suggest checking your SD card, trying another one, and perhaps checking to make sure you didn't break any pins that are soldered to the main PCB while doing this. I haven't had this happen ever but those are the only ideas I can think of happening.
Do you have a fix for the black lines on the Odin 2? One week into owning device there are visible black horizontal lines across the screen anyone else seen this?
You should contact Ayn if you didn't drop it or put pressure on the screen by placing it in your pocket or a case that it didn't fit in properly then you should have a replacement warranty.
Hi :) super video :) Would be great to have a similar video with the Odin 2 mini :) I wonder if Odin 2 mini is turning on without OGbattery, but a power bank usbC plugged
If done correctly anyone could technically take the original wiring from the original battery and use it for something similar, I'm actually trying to find an alternative and perhaps a correct match for the rise/pitch of the battery connector for these devices because honestly having to ship these back to China and back again is an expensive solution that makes no sense.
I was actually on the process of turning my black Odin 2 into a white one, but noticed that the buttons I bought from AYN directly are missing the Power button and the 2 buttons on the back. Where did you get those from?
great vid thanks for the guide, am thinking of modding my white odin 2 with black buttons all around my question is do i really need to remove fan and battery to do that?

Damn, I hate clips with a vengeance... Why do they design most devices to be a pain in the arse to open nowadays? It isn't necessary as proven by countless other devices not needing clips to stay together. That's what the screws are for... I just wanted to flip the ABXY buttons around to non-Nintendo layout but this seems to much of a pain. Great guide though, thanks!
The clips aren't really that bad, the reason they need clips is so the plastic doesn't collapse in on itself and holds together even without screws. It's extra support, but again these clips are not nearly as bad as other devices. The Odin 2 all together is really the easiest device I've ever taken apart and trust me I've taken apart phones from the iPhone 3/Samsung Galaxy S2 all the way up to the Note 8 apart.
