  • In this video I show you a crossbreed between a tequila sunrise female guppy and a blue moscow male guppy. This video features the parents and first generation of the crossbreed (P & F1).
The crossbred guppies turned out really pretty and I'm happy with the successful results. I also explain a bit of guppy genetics.
    Enjoy!

Thank you so much for the kind words! Could be the nicest thing anyone has done for me : ) The metalhead trait came from the moscow male. The partial snakeskin pattern most likely from the yellow of the tequila sunrise. It was probably created with a micariff yellow and they can have snakeskin/cobra in the back round. The metalhead male looks Fantastic! Nice work.

Yes. I had some killifish, or as I called them derpfish, and they somehow spawned some defective offspring. One had a really messed up spine, and lived awhile until it disappeared. For the aquarium world, that means it was gobbled up unexpectedly.

My father-in-law had some guppies where the tail was up in a 30° angle. So when swimming the tail was straight but the body was looking at the surface. Bit strange and they didn't live long.

The Snakeskin pattern was originally known as the tapestry or lace pattern and found in wild caught endlers which were then bred into guppies. I used to have some lace endler /guppy crosses, Bright yellow bodied with black netting pattern over the body and tail some also had black dots scattered around their bodies and caudal tail. The dorsal fin was yellow with a very fine black lace patterning on it. Some of hthe crosses also had some white spots on the body inside the black lacing on the body.

How interesting. Our tank of African Cichlids bread several times. The mother was orange with black spots like a Malawi Scale Eater. The father was blue with dark blue vertical stripes. So their F1 produced fish that were orange with black stripes or spots in a striped pattern, or just orange with black spots like a leopard.

I use to breed guppies ,until an ice storm took out power for us for a week..They didn't make it .Even when I moved some ( the Best) to a holding tank close to the fire place..I had some very pretty morphs. It was sad...Right now I am breeding isopods (wood lice ,or what ever name is local to the reader)Including pill bugs... And getting some very interesting morphs..And I have always loved house spiders (cobweb weavers/False Black Widows)..I have kept Black Widows too..SO I found an unhatched egg sac and the spider lings are so cute..The MOM was a almost candy apple red w/gold markings..Can't wait to see what the little ones look like..I wish I could post pics or vids..The comp I'm borrowing is..well Old It hardly keeps up w/YT...(waiting on parts for my real one..Repairs..sigh..)..Love your Vids..Keep having fun..Life is so diverse/interesting when you stop for a second or two and just LOOK...I sometimes just walk outside and look between the blades of grass to see what's going on..I'm quiet sure I look a bit "Strange"..Don't care...I think the strange people are are those that don't .😋...We "Strange People" gotta stick together. 😊

I would die of happiness if there were a UA-cam channel dedicated to exploring guppy crossbreeding like this! I have literally searched for videos of various guppy and endler crosses hundreds of times, and this is the best one I have found. I need to check out D Gray (I wonder why I didn't find it before! Bad Google!)
You may be disappointed by the look of the moscow trait against a yellow body. The iridescence doesn't show up as well on a lighter body as it does on the grey or black base colors. My most iridescent fish are 3/4th and 7/8ths guppy-endler hybrids with the black body trait from a tuxedo-dumbo mosiac cross. They are even more vivid to look at than the wild-type looking endlers (which have a light body)!

That’s fascinating my brother worked for a fish store when he was a teenager and dating the bosses daughter we became his breeders for his Moscow that he got we kept reading him until they had absolutely no white chin and we’re fully black at that point we decided to change our line because we were having problems with cancer in the fish I love the two fish Moscow and yellow guppies is one of the rare chances that you can really tell the females from the males by the coloring. It’s great not to have bland females keep up the good work hope for future updates.

I've always wanted to selectively breed animals or plants for something weird. It's easier to do if they reproduce in large numbers. Shrimp are a really good option. Imagine breeding shrimp for transparency, and then when you're satisfied enough that you can see through them, start breeding them for brain size. Although you might cause a weird version of District 9 in real life if you do that.

Life in Jars? Ah I see, so it’s a dominant and only appears on males. But I also read (based on google, so Idk really) that the pattern only shows on around 90% of the males, so maybe the dad just doesn’t show it well. Or maybe there’s a chance that the black guppy is indeed not the father, and we should turn it into a tv show immediately.

and had one point the futur baby will have a coloring approaching the wild guppy. It happened to the guppy i breed, after i don't remember how many generation they had loose their colorfull body. But those fish are surprising, out of nowhere i got new form, like snakeskin, leopard or mosaic, they have different type of tail, i curently have 3 or 4 different type of tail, and the most surprising of all, is that after awhile sometime the original form come back. I like those fish they are really interesting to breed.
