I think what you're missing in understanding the ancient kingdom is, it isnt an island its a massive fuckin continent so most likely what vegapunk meant when he said their are fragments of it existing is that all the islands are just pieces of that old massive continent.

The fragments are just the parts of land that didn't go under water when it went up 200m, and that's what all the islands of the one peice world are the tops of mountains from the void century continent that got swallowed by the sea

The fragments could just be the different kingdoms that came out of the ancient kingdom, like Wano and sky Island.💯
I would say Oda took inspiration from the movie Waterworld where the same thing happened to Earth with the melting of the polar ice caps for that segment that says the world of one piece is currently only on fragments of the original ancient kingdom continent

The fragments of that world ties in the fact that oars is a descendant of continent pullers. They probably pulled floating fragments together to form sine current islands or the redline

The existance of the ancient kingdom reminds me of how in the legend of zelda: the wind waker you get to visit old hyrule thats under water, sunken but still there. Further more the idea on getting 3 pearls to reveal the location that leads down to old hyrule is no different from getting 4 road ponyglyphs though how this is executed may differ but a few similarities.
What caused the water levels to rise was probably the red line. I don't believe they were saying that the ancient kingdom is still alive today, just that the people in the one piece world are living on pieces of the continent of that ancient kingdom that are still above water (so the majority of the one piece world)

If the redline gets destroyed the water will be able to level out through out the world an the part that was flooded will come up

They live in fragments is referring to the countries that were apart of the ancient kingdom, Fishman island, wano, elbaf. Each has their own explanation for escaping the flood

My theory is that lodestar used to be the continent and the 20 kingdoms broke apart or joyboy broke broke off left tail so that he could make certain that they never got to the true final Island he created

Thoughts on Pluton being JoyBoys ship? Possibly he or his crew/kingdom controlled all of the ancient weapons and, despite his intentions, the 20 kingdoms banded together as a countermeasure

In my opinion, the ancient kingdom is under laughtale, when the war of the void kingdom was in full swing and they were going to lose, they locked themselves inside a safe space (technologically advanced)and, the 'D' clan was given the responsibility to reopen the safe place when they find it safe (Moreover I think the three ancient weapons form the key to reopen that safe space). A reason why we have'nt seen any member of the ancient kingdom other than the 'D' clan in one piece.
Joyboy set out to the sea to open the gate by retrieving the 3 weapons stolen/scattered by the world govt during the void century war and his ship was NOAH.
Ray said the same thing , that the SH could view things differnt when they find out the true history from roger pirates and he knew full history .
So it nice that Oda double down on that .
Also did syv not see the spoilers that there was 100 year war and that the reason the water levels rise and the AW going matter in the final war .
I think what he means by “fragments” is that some of the islands still have influence like alabasta,wano, and fishman island and possibly elbaf reason why i say this that these three islands( besides elbaf far as we know )have information about the ancient weapons with that here’s what i think i believe will learn more about the ancient kingdom at elbaf and what thing seems like ancient and out of the ordinary there? The giant tree and for all we know that its roots reach below the 200m and possibly leads to the kingdom thoughts
I’m with the theory that the ancient kingdom is in between the Gates of Justice. This assumes that a weapon similar to what destroyed lulucia struck the ancient kingdom and caused the water to rise. Ground zero for the attack was made into impel down. Other mountains on the land of the ancient kingdom became eneis lobby and marine hq.
All 3 marine bases could have ancient kingdom cities under them. Like fish man island being one, then enies lobby’s giant crater could have one, n also the whirlpool at impel down !

I have been saying this for months since rewatching skypeia, that the ancient kingdom was Shandora. There are still shandorans protecting the poneglyphs that remain there, had been in the void century war for sure.

The ancient kingdom sounds like Pangea. One big continent that became smaller separate continents. Maybe this is on a smaller scale and most land is now islands. I also think egg head was talking about joy boy and not imu on not knowing enough about him. Imperial down is the site where the big attack on the big continent.

Possibly instead of the ocean the fragments of them are in the sky because that is one possibility that was only explored before in an arc but only for certain story but also one Supernova is not ever explored but is continued to appear but its story and history ever explored! He is one supernova to yet have a story be explored and possibly connect to why he appears not to be involved in fights with government or pirates except an encounter with Kaido and appears in a sky island which is never explored of other sky islands except for possibly at least 2 mentioned before but only those two!

I think that what he means by fragments, I think he’s talking about a large plot of land like a continent. Imagine North America underwater, we would have islands chains throughout the continent. We would have things like the red line such as the Rocky Mountains, etc.

If we live in fragments of the continent that was the ancient kingdom than it's not one place. The ancient kingdom was likely the entire grand line and this is the reason the grand line is full of islands scattered everywhere with weird magnetic disturbances because the whole continent was obliterated by an ancient advanced technology.
I still think laughtale is a fragment of the ancient kingdom that was submerged underwater and when we seen Roger's flashback the colors that we got in the background of those scenes looked very similar to the color of the coating that Raleigh used

The raising of the redline is what raised the water levels so high.
The Grand Line is the Ancient Kingdom. So the world originally had a wall going both ways. The Islands in the grand line are the remnants of that wall.
Maybe that's how oars got his nickname

Fragments of that continent sounds like the islands we see in the op world are the buoyant mountaintops of tall continents from a millenia ago, which makes the red line more mysterious for being at least 1000 ft high
The ancient kingdom might of been the largest continent on the planet besides the red line and when it got Uranus'd it probs was equivalent to 200 lulusias or it got nuked piece by piece
