    “Is that blood?” “Yes.” LOL. - So glad you did this comparison…i’ve put off purchasing either because they seemed possibly very similar. But now i see they’re not! I learned yesterday from a Doodlebud demo that Writer’s Blood is a very wet ink, which interests me. But I’m going to hold off until i work through my Noodler’s Red Black…which is quite nice...

      Thank you for watching & I am so glad that helped! Yes, it was quite surprising to see how wet the Writer's Blood was, even on copy paper. Usually that stuff takes up ink quickly. I have a sample of Noodler's Red Black but have not used it yet. Other than Diamine Red Lustre (yummy gold shimmer) that I've been using, Oxblood are my 2 reds. I might need to go back to my Noodler's Red Black sample to see what that looks like!

    I’ve long liked and frequently use Diamine’s Oxblood.
    Writer’s Blood is alright, but feels a little too wet and also tends to smear much. I prefer Oxblood, by far.
    I never quite fancied PR inks; they always seemed somewhat troublesome.

      I’m way too impatient for writer’s blood to dry! I like the Oxblood for everyday use alBUT the only problem is that I always think that I got cut or something because it truly looks like blood! 😆

    Diamine dont have a competition to just name their inks they actually let reddit users to 'design' a couple of inks, I think each year. A lot of these reddit inks become very popular.

    I can’t tell much of a difference between Oxblood and Writer’s Blood when just writing with a fountain pen. I find myself using Oxblood mostly as the dry time is shorter. If you own one of these inks I don’t think it’s worth buying the other for just writing purposes. Great video!

      Thanks so much for watching! I totally agree with you!!! They are so very similar, especially when using a Fine or Extra Fine - you would really have to go under good lighting to see a shade of a difference. Oxblood still wins in my opinion! Haha!

      @@KitchenCounterCraftshi. I like goth often, and like vampire movies. I liked your video, but alas, I am not a guy who likes bloody colors, though writer's blood is tempting because I am a poet. However, my favorite red is noodlers Tokyo gift, a cheerful red. Pennonia meggyes sour cherry is my second fave in reds. I hope you get to try it one day, it is darker than Tokyo gift, and has wonderful shading, abnormal amounts of shading. lol. My favorite colors tend to be oranges, I love Autumn 🍂 oak. It got me hooked into fountain pens. Burnt orange inks and purple inks are my faves, and dark teas. Taccia benitsuchi is my current favorite tea color. I honestly would like to know yours and if you are going to have a fall theme this September. I'm attempting to get into planning, dot grids confuse me. I tried listing things to do, but I'm more artistic than I thought, I do better when I see how many accomplishments I can do this day. Writing what I need to do seems to make me feel overwhelmed. I am under severe stress, so far I find adding a reward to the accomplishment has motivated me more to do more.

      @@gristlevonraben Thank you so much for that response! I really love hearing about the colors others are drawn to. I honestly did NOT think I would love the blood colors (kinda weird, honestly). On Reddit and everywhere else, I kept seeing Diamine Oxblood being recommended and people were diehard fans of this ink. Of course I had to check it out. Well, the rest is history. I have at least 2 pens inked with it right now - one with a huge calligraphy nib because it looks GORGEOUS on cheap paper and one with my Pilot Elite 95s for regular writing.
      Orange Inks: My grail inks are Sepia - more like an orangey brown or even copper. The reason is due to wanting that wonderful old-world, vintage look to my letters. I write on cream colored paper and the lovely brown inks remind me of the old iron gall look, written with a dip pen or a feather quill.
      Here's a video on my hunt for the Sepia color if you would like to take a look!
      ua-cam.com/video/XmE1tVJA0Ss/v-deo.html
      I also have one on Rome Burning - have you seen this incredible ink??? ua-cam.com/video/7wnn0N8MCcQ/v-deo.html
      I want to know more about that Autumn Oak - who makes it and why you love it so much!
      Taccia benitsuchi: I looked this up and it is absolutely beautiful! What a deep, pleasing tea color. I just got a sample of Taccia Cha at my pen club meeting - that one looked quite interesting to me and since I love Chai, I thought I had to try it out.
      Fall Theme: I hadn't really thought about that! You just gave me a great suggestion! Thank you for that. I will go look at what fall colors I have and maybe do a comparison.
      Is that what you meant? Or were you thinking more about art? Either would be interesting... maybe fountain pen art?
      Planning: I love art and tend to be more on the free spirit side. My sweet daughter (very organized) has given me some beautiful planners that I have doodled on but not really "planned" on! 😊
      If you do end up doing a planner, I have heard that the Hobonichi planner allows you to be artistic, is fountain pen friendly and allows room for planning.
      If you figure all that out, let me know how it goes for you. I am like you in that it stresses me out to watch videos on people color-coding their weeks and planning like maniacs.
      I am lucky to get things written on post-its. It's very satisfying for me to crumple them up on the end of the day!
      I have been using a planner lately and as long as I make lists and stick post-its on the planner, I am doing well. Combine that with the calendar on my phone, and I am good to go!
      What "possessed" you to do planning anyway? Just curious.

    I'm with you. The Diamine Oxblood and Red Dragon are favorites, but if I want deep brown, my preferences are Private Reserve Ebony Brown or Chocolat. I also like Private Reserve Black Cherry in the dark red family.

    • @KitchenCounterCrafts
      @KitchenCounterCrafts  Рік тому

      I have heard about the Red Dragon, but I have not sampled it! I love Private Reserve - do you get any "deposits" on your nib from those? I find them to be super saturated (which I like) but then I get a little "crusty" bit on my nib which kinda freaks me out! 🙂

    • @nlamproplos
      @nlamproplos Рік тому

      @Kitchen Counter Crafts I'd say Red Dragon is more vibrant than Oxblood. I have it in my Vanishing Point right now, which has a fine nib. It has good flow. The two Private Reserve inks I use most often are Blue Suede snd Black Cherry. I haven't had a problem with crustiness with either of those shades, The only ink I've had that issue with so far is Noodler's Habanero. It freaked me out at first. But I just wiped it off with a tissue and haven't had any trouble cleaning it from the pen when changing inks.
