- I made this movie as a tribute to our paratroopers. I tried my best to tie in the lines of the verses with the pics but there where just some spots where I couldnt find the right pics. I used pics from WWII to today.
Song: Blood on The Risers, sung by the 82nd Airborne Chours.
Lyrics:
He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright
as he checked all his equipment and made sure his pack was tight
He had to sit and listen to the awful engines roar,
And he ain't gonna jump no more.
CHORUS:
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
He aint gonna jump no more.
"Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant, looking up.
Our hero feebly answered "yes," and then they stood him up.
He jumped into the icy blast, his static line unhooked.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock;
He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop;
The silk from his reserves spilled out and wrapped around his legs.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
The risers wrapped around his neck, connectors cracked his dome;
Suspension lines where tied in knots, around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud, he hurtled to the ground.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
The days hed lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind;
He thought about the girl back home, the one hed left behind;
He thought about the medicals and wondered what theyed find.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild;
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, they rolled up their sleeves and smiled;
For it had been a week or more since last a chute had failed.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
He hit the ground, the sound was splat, his blood went spurting high;
His comrades they were heard to say, "A helluve way to die";
He lay there rolling round in the welter of his gore.
He aint gonna jump no more.
CHORUS
There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute;
Intestines were a-dangling from this paratrooper suite;
He was a mess they picked him up, and poured him from his boots.
He aint gonna jump no more.
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
Gory, Gory, What a helluva way to die
He aint gonna jump no more. - Фільми й анімація
I often hear people say "What a disgusting song to sing about those brave men!". What they don't realize is that this song is paratroopers laughing at what they're afraid of. They're all scared white of having their chute not open. This song is not mockery, it is a stark reminder that this can happen to anyone in their regiment. The mark of a true soldier, a real trooper, is when the funeral is done, and he's in the ground, his comrades go to their local bar in silence, they have a toast to his memory, and then, very quietly, begin to sing this song. The Blood on the Risers. Most people don't get it, but the troopers through and true do get it.
+Vincent Heartland Good post. As a jumper who has endured bad jumps both civilian and military, I find this song a form of "gallows humor", and I have always enjoyed hearing it. "feet and knees together!"
Vincent Heartland OOOAAAH

My mom thinks this is a civil war song.... lol
yes it brings tears to me but it also makes me proud
I was a paratrooper for a number of years and I want to say thanks to all who served and the ones who are training now to become paratroopers. There was a time when we had to learn this song as part of our training.
Thank you for your service
Thank you for your service, sincerely a non American
Me also Roger, The Paratrooper’s Boot’s Of World War II,, Only GOD CAN LACE!! Expect the unexpected ... JUMP!!!
Thank you for your service. I am not sure whether that last part was meant as a joke, but I have a feeling it wasn't...
Roger Howard thank you for your service. And ThNk you to these men.
I was a Brother Paratrooper. Always will be. One of favorite songs epitomizes Paratroopers. Eccentric, cocky , sarcastic, laughing in face of death.
Thank You For Your Service Sir.

We would all starve to death politicians first they have no clue what work is to feed families
Thanks to the Airborne and all the men who fought WW2 for our beloved freedom today..., Sadly many don't remember or recognize what they did for us... brings a tear to my eyes....
Wonderful tribute. My husband jumped many times during his 12 years in the 82nd. He sang that song around our kids just for fun. I'm very proud of him and all the others who wear the maroon beret. We loved watching a few Hollywood jumps at Sicily dz and parking at Pope just watching the planes take off. 1/504
Awesome he is one of my Brothers then.
1/325 AATW... Take Care
As a former Marine, I love the graveyard humor. Blue skies always troopers.
I hear the static from the record.. don't change it.. makes it more real
Brings back memories of the phonograph/record player.
My Dad was 82nd Airborne. I learned this song, and a few other ls that people would today wouldn’t think of singing to a little girl. But, I understood. I loved my Dad and the songs bring back the memories. My son is now a US Army pilot. Every generation of my family has served. My great-uncle died in the Ardennes in WWII. Since he had no children, we were given the Gold Star family honors for Memorial Day. I guess it was my destiny to be a soldier’s wife and a soldier’s mother.
Served as a Parachute rigger, loved my time jumping, almost 20 years later and this song still raises the hair on the back of neck. I will be sure ALWAYS! AIRBORNE!
@BifeWeater 😂
Thank you for posting this video. My father served almost two years fighting the Germans in France in WW11. God bless all those brave men.
damn i tough there were 2 world wars not 11
*Yeah i know it was a typo but i still respect him*
A moment of silence for those who have passed in all branches of military
Stay safe out there and stay hopeful 🇺🇸
I dont cry very often, but no matter what, the last minute of this video gets me.
The heros anthem.
I am in Australia listening to this moving song, and thinking about all the soldiers who risk their lives every time they jump out of a plane, let alone face the dangers of combat. An Australian paratrooper lost his life here recently during a training exercise, when he had problems with his chute opening, or some other issue with his gear. There was a national outpouring of grief for this trooper and his family, and it emphasised the danger these guys face every time they jump. I can’t help thinking of the hundreds of paratroopers who died during WW2 when they dropped into France, and other locations to free the world from the evil of Hitler and all he stood for. Without their bravery, along with thousands of other brave troops, we would not enjoy the freedoms we have today. This was a great tribute, thanks for sharing. Greetings to all from ‘Down Under’!
Thanks for posting this! Sincerely, Sgt. CJ 2/504 PIR, vet OEF II. Airborne All The Way!!!
+Sgt. Airborne I thank you for your service my good sir.

Godspeed, Sergeant CJ!
Sgt. Airborne thank for your service sir. I’m inspired by this and if I don’t make it into the marines, airborne is my choice! :)

this will be rememberd for the airborne troops on d-day
My father was a sas paratrooper sniper with the special air service in Australia
Your chute was produced by the finest seamstresses with the finest materials the government can buy. If that chute should fail, your government has provided you with a reserve chute made with the finest seamstresses and materials the government can buy. If that chute should fail, no problem, just take it to the quartermaster, and he will issue another one.
Just make sure that you do not put the harness on upside down and land on your head.

Unforgettable heroes of the WW II. You given all peace for the mankind. Saluted to all paratroops and the airborne. 🫡🇺🇸✈️⭐️🎉❤️
Exactly as described by Vincent Heartland...the U.S. Army's paratrooper's traditional "theme song" during, and since, World War II -- thumbing their noses at the danger they faced while jumping in this ironic and iconic song.
Exactly what it is to me as Paratrooper
Stand Up, Shuffle to the Door, Jump Right Out, and Count to 4. 101st Airborne Division when it was still airborne and 5th Special Forces.
back in jump school, during jump week, this was our wake up call..... really made some guys really think hard.

Airborne All the Sir.... 82nd Abn
My Dad was a Sgt in 82nd during Korea. He was Union member (carpenter) GER in the Elks, but always considered himself Airborne First!

For many, no explanation is necessary.
For some, no explanation is possible.
love and respect to who now lay in peace my god bless all
My grandpa was drafted into Vietnam and, after AIT he had decided he wanted to be airborne, like his father before him. But then he figured out he would have to spend two years in Vietnam instead of the one year your average infantrymen had to spend. "Fuck that." he said.
That wasn't true...I was 82nd Airborne 69 to 71 and everyone only did a year in Nam. Had to volunteer to do more.
@@jimjoyce1638 thank you for the correction. My grandfather had told me this story long before I wrote the comment. I probably got some details of what he told me wrong!
Your grandfather was still a Hero. God bless him for all he did!!!!!!
I always hear it "gory gory what a helluva way to die, with your rifle in your right hand as your falling through the sky"
I like the music It was his DICK in his right hand...his rifle was in his left! ( He was RIGHT HANDED!)
@TubeNut Nuttington yeah, I've heard british soldiers sing "gory gory what a helluva way to die, with a bayonet up your arsehole and a bullet in your eye. gory gory what a helluva way to die, when your balls hang lower than your paratrooper boots"

Good bless America and this brave men and women.
I ain't so good with heights... reckon I won't be tryin' for my Airborne patch. That's ok; I don't reckon I'm half as tough a bastard as the man what would jump out of a plane to go and fight.
HEROS 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
Sometimes I wonder why I went through all of it. I made 23 jumps. Thinking back on it, I wouldn't change a thing. AIR-FUCKING-BORNE!!!! HOOAH

Ah memories....... :)
When Airborne 1962 1963 and saw the way the military should be. But when sent to Leg unit in Germany and saw how things should not be that was all I needed to only do one three year hitch.

Battle cry of freedom
Comment by William Westmorland
It is unnatural for a person to hurl himself from great heights,
especially if the environment into which he falls is either unknown or know to be hostile.
82nd!
720 have landed safely, 12 have bounced.
1980-0726, Saboteur Pours Battery Acid on Parachute.
In 1980, I was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division @ Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Captain (CPT) Hill was my boss. The following information is from my diary:
CPT Lawrence D. Hill exited a C-130 airplane on a night, combat equipment, Airborne operation. His main parachute failed to open & he fell to his death. @ daylight, the 82nd Airborne Division safety office investigation began. The main parachute, still in its pack, is a combination of nylon & a strange pasty substance. Tests reveal the parachute was soaked in battery acid. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) takes over the investigation.
Private First Class (PFC) Alvin P. Williams, a parachute rigger with E Co, 407th S&S Bn is the primary suspect, he packed the sabotaged parachute. He refuses to take a lie detector test. During the investigation, CID investigators strike PFC Williams repeatedly, knocking out his front teeth. He admits to bringing a soda bottle with battery acid into the parachute pack area & pouring it on the nylon material during the packing process.
PFC Williams appears before a general court-martial. During pretrial motions, the judge refuses to allow evidence gathered during & just after the beating incident. PFC Williams admitted to everything in the hours after his teeth were punched out. He is found innocent due to lack of evidence. Upon hearing of his acquittal, Williams gave the jury a broad toothless smile. He tells reporters he can’t wait to return to his unit.
Paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne are briefed on the incident & allowed to terminate jump status with no repercussions, 300-paratroopers out of 15,000 terminate. I did not terminate & went on to become a master paratrooper in the 82nd.
Author’s note: The newspaper article below leaves out the part about acid & PFC Williams being beaten. CID was ashamed about losing the case. They also did not want “copycat” repetition of this.
After PFC Williams was kicked out of the Army. CID sent two agents to his home town for six months to follow him hoping they could catch him doing something illegal. I told the truth, this is how the papers reported it:
@affablegentleman Yes the army is treating me pretty well. i got stationed out of fort richardson alaska. 4th brigade 25th infantry division. 3/509 PIR. they just got back from a deployment in afghanistan so i've got some downtime before the next deployment.
saludos a los hermanos de la seda!! 1ª batalon-B.F.P-Mexico! EAGLES' BROTHERHOOD
This song is very profound.
My father was a special forces with the Australian sas paratroopers he was a Sargent
Brave men mock death. I wonder what it is like to stare death in its face and sing this song.
It was sometimes scary, when people ask me how I could have done it, and how did it feel? I always answer...the closest I got to heaven on my way back to hell!!!!
A todos os paraquedistas militares que deram seu esforço e sacrificio nas batalhas da 2ª Guerra Mundial nossa eterna gratidão.
Hearsay, prove to me tour of duty was 2 years because you were airborne in Nam.
When me and the boys go to school
And pay respects to the soldiers that went to war to serve or country

Damn onion cutting ninjas!
So what went wrong to make this jumpers chute malfunction?
He forgot to hook his static line. 0:55 That's the line that gets hooked to a cable in the plane which opens your main chute when you jump. He then panics and opens his reserve while falling in bad position getting tangled. The song is a cautionary tale reminding airborne to check everything before a jump.
