- This project is inspired by Roxy’s Journsl of Storchery volume 5 bag prompt.
Sharing part one of two parts showing how I’m making an easy slow stitch bag with a zip. How go make a pouch with cloth.
Heres a link to the second and final video where I add in the zip: #Roxysjournalofstitchery How to turn a rectangle of #slowstitch into a zip bag or pouch - no machine

My own method that uses two pieces of fabric attached to each other rather than four pieces as are used in most tutorials.
Plus everything is hand stitched. And no complicated turning inside out and back again.
I hope you enjoy following along with me for this Roxy Journal of Stitchery #slowstitch #slowstitching project tutorial.
Check out the great project shared by Rachel @roxycreations679 and Sarah @roxycreationsbysarah 💙🧵🪡

Thanks, Christine. I don't have a sewing machine, so I appreciate all the hand stitched projects. 😊
There’s so many projects shared on UA-cam that require sewing machines so it makes me happy to share hand stitched projects - plus I don’t have a sewing machine either :)
❤❤❤ Love the fabric still and all hand stitch bag😊😊😊
Thank you Becky! And happy weekend! Cheers, Christine
Love how the dye resist fabric looks, beautiful. ❤
Thanks so much Angie 🤗
I love your fabric Christine, so special as it’s unique to you 🌼
Thanks Sally - really happy to be working with this fabric - reclaimed from old sheets and patterned by me and nature 💙
Hi Christine, the gorgeous fabric you made looks so beautiful in this project. Totally unique to you. I haven't put in a zipper before so I am enjoying learning how to go about it. Best wishes Lyn
Thanks so much Lynn - I’ve been pleasantly surprised that I’m not the only one that has been avoiding zips. I hope my method provides an easier alternative to use for slow stitch or hand stitch projects. Cheers, Christine
Once again Christine, you've been keeping me company in my craft room while I do a bit of stitching, love to catch up with all your doings. You're so right about the snacking habit thing, so often if you have a drink of water or something and keep your hands busy, you find you weren't really hungry after all. I must get myself out for my daily constitutional now, though the weather here is not encouraging - I need a Travers to make me get out tthere! i have a huge aversion to putting zips in, so this is a great little project for me to watch, I'll look forward to the next one. Cheerio for now :)
Thanks Annie - it’s been lovely to see everyone feeling freed up to share their own challenges after you shared yours. And to have a community to share in the experience of taking little steps that will make a difference to our own wellbeing. Abd funny how we share an aversion to adding zippers 😆 Cheers, Christine
Gorgeous fabric ❤
Thanks K3n - it’s so soft because I used very old bed sheets and lovely to know it is unique to me. Fun to make too! Cheers, Christine
That unique fabric looks so wonderful with your stitching! Waiting for the zipper😊and you are right about the habit to snack without being really hungry😢go for a walk instead,Giusi!! In the countryside which I love but it's not always possible unfortunately. TFS, Christine ❤
Thanks Giusi - it seems the snacking challenge is quite a pervasive one. Looking forward to getting to out the zip in this weekend. First up a fungi and moss brooch, then on to the pouch. Cheers, Christine
Beautiful pouch Christine, love how you stitched the leaves. I’m sure you will get many compliments from your work colleagues. Healsville is a lovely place to visit , lots of great op shops in the Main Street there . Travis is a very well loved and traveled pooch . Belly rubs for such a good boy ❤funny you should say that a Coke Zero as like you I enjoy a coke whilst eating fish n chips I agree with you as feel it does help break the fats down .
Thanks Joanne 💛 I’ll have to plan a trip back to check out the op shops (maybe when I’ve got through more of my stash 😆) Trav sends you a nose boop as he happily sits next to me on the couch while I have a morning coffee. Cheers, Christine
Hi Christine. The fabric you dyed is beautiful. It’s going to make a lovely bag. I have never sewn in a zipper. After I watch you maybe I’ll give it a try. Hugs ❤️🙂
Thanks Linda - it turns out I’m not alone in my zip aversion! That’s why I love the Roxy projects as they challenge me to keep trying different things. Cheers, Christine
That denim fabric looks like chambray..really love the dyed fabric you did. it's stunning...a zip hint.. use a zipper longer than you need it makes the job a lot easier
Thanks for the tip - I’m actually excited to finish this pouch off and see how the zip goes 🤗 cheers, Christine
Thank you Christine for your video and company today as I stitched away, it is so nice to have a friend while you stitch . The bag is going to be ideal for work. I used to find there was a lot of small things I may need but did not want my handbag and it's contents to carry around. I have never been one for fizzy flavoured drinks and certainly not Fanta. As a Scot living in the South England I did not like the tap water here (hard water area),so I am a sparkling water girl. My problem is a cup of tea needs a biscuit . I am sure it is a subconscious response. I therefore drink more coffee and no biscuit😂😂
Thanks Carol - it makes me happy to have stitching buddies around the globe. My dad’s family is from Scotland originally and dad wore a kilt to the wedding to mum (much to mum’s surprise 😆). And you’re so right about the things we need to carry around with us. A good strategy too for avoiding the biscuit associations 😆 cheers and happy weekend, Christine
Lovely company, thank you.
Thank you Hilde 💙
@@createandcraftwithchristineMost Welcome, I enjoyed very much my own Slow Stiching while having your company. That is the beautiful part of internet. In my life, I would love to have acquaintances or even friends with whom to share my hobby and to meet for hand craft, tea and coffee and content babbling, yet with my irregular shifts and my personal way to mostly prefer my solitude, that doesn't go well together. The more lovely it is to find likeminded souls online to share this peaceful joy. I look forward towards more but will also enjoy to put my nose into your older videos. Have a lovely day. Greetings from Augsburg, Germany.
@@hildegardkhelfa5358 so lovely to have you as a new virtual stitching buddy in Germany all the way from Australia. I enjoy my solitude too but as you say even in that solitude we can yearn for connection with others. I’m so pleased that the UA-cam and linked communities can provide us those opportunities to connect and chat across space and time. Have a lovely weekend. Hope you get some good rest as shift work can be very exhausting. Cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristineThank you so much and greetings to Australia.
I have my holidays right now, since I have to care for my dog who got a surgery on Monday and needs a Lot of Patience and help to walk well again (but is improving)... And while my Buddy cuddled between my feet, I stiched happily along all night and most of the day. Paradise! 🪡
Fun project! Cuddling Tucker (he’s being a monster atm) while watching. ❤
A gorgeous, cute and wonderful monster I am sure. Hope you are still getting enough rest so you can enjoy the puppy adventures to the full 🤗 cheers, Christine
@@createandcraftwithchristine I’m lucky - I can nap when he does if I need to. Every few days I nap and it helps catch me up. He is a good boy 🐾🐾 🩵
@@marthamanigross happy to hear that and keep enjoying your bundle of joy xx
I worked on my Roxy bag while watching you stitch on your pretty bag. We are warming up here in Idaho. I am so used to wearing a jacket that I grab one when I leave the house and then dont need it at all. Haha
And sadly I am a chocolate lover 😊
Hi Judy - I think my email has gremlins in it so letting you know here also that I’ve sent your package (my email seems to have eaten the first email I sent you!) Very happy to hear things are warming up for you xx
I found the email. Thank you
