Purlins describe the function of the hat channel. They typically connect trusses and are more part of the roof structure, but I've heard the ones that connect the columns described as purlins also. I think that's pretty common in steel buildings. That's a great looking building, btw. Nice job! I've been considering doing one of these instead of the wood ones from Home Depot or Lowes.
Before I screw in the screws into the hat channel, I snap a line with my chalk snap liner tool. It make the screws line up professionally straight and you know exactly that each screw will go into the hat channel.
Could you PLEASE (I'm kinda begging) extend your courtesy and let me know what type of insulation went on the roof BEFORE you installed the roof panels? I noticed a white vapor barrier I guess they call it, which I assume goes downwards, but is it attached to the actual insulation that gets rolled out or is the white vapor barrier installed first and the insulation rolls out on top of it? I also assume the roofs hat channels / purlins is what keeps it from falling thru.....PLEASE reply, as this is the ONLY versa tube video I can find where roof insulation went on FIRST. Perhaps the type and brand if you would be so kind. GREAT JOB by the way !!!!
This is how they say to put on the 3” insulation. This insulation is from VersaTube. It worked well. We didn’t do it on the side even though that is what the recommended. We used it after building the wood walls and right before the drywall. You can check out episode three and 4 for that content.
I'm curious if there was a reason you did not set in anchoring threading during the concrete pour. Do you feel like the red heads are equally adequate or was it more of a just wanted to make sure the measurements were right for the structure?
Who did the garage door install for you? Where did you get the doors? I was thinking of ordering from menards and then finding someone to install them?
Really thought this was a 2m plus subscriber channel the way it was produced and edited. Top job lads
That means a lot!
This is a dream building, fun you mentioned the electrical. I could see BX but then I saw Romex and figured it out.
Congrats looks great.

Girts are on walls, purlins on roof

Girts on the sidewalls, purlins on the roof
I plan on using this shop & converting it into a house.
My guy just blew that hole out with a kids straw hahaha love it
Hahahaha stuff happens.
Looks awesome, can’t wait to see it in person. 👍🏼
Loved watching this build series. How did you end up sealing the building sheathing to the slab? Caulking?
Yup that’s exactly what I did!

@@Mullenthemaker THANKS for the quick reply and info...By the way, office looks AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again
@@jeffsearles3510 no problem! Appreciate the support
@@Mullenthemaker it's funny I just put mine up and they recommend closed cell spray foam to avoid condensation. I'm in a colder climate in ontario.
How did it hold up to the record snow in Utah? We are in Tooele county considering a similar shop?
What was the total cost for the building

Great job! Very well explained and executed. 👍
Thank you kindly!
what was the size?
Mind if I ask what the cost was for the concert slab for this size of building?
This cost me around $30k
what a helpful video. What is your snow load rating for this shop?
Nice build. What are the braces hanging down from the truss down to the sidewall. I notice they are gone when you finish the office and shop.
Thanks.
So what was your size of building and total cost of building?
Looking good bud....I'm jealous. Looking forward to the next one.
How stable does it seem? My biggest concern is long term structural integrity.
We have zero issues in wind and snow.
Is the slab flat ? How did you deal with water intrusion where the slab meets the walls?
Nice video. How long did it take you?
Woooo nice 👏🏻
Really nice build.
Who did the garage door install for you? Where did you get the doors? I was thinking of ordering from menards and then finding someone to install them?
I’m tempted to buy a versatube building and turn it into a home 😅
That's my plan
@@claudewiggins7404 something like that would work where there are no restrictions
@@Painfulwhale360 middle of nowhere lol...
Where in utah are you located? How thick is the concrete?
Good info.thanks
Love it what size is your building
What size is the shop?
How big is the garage?
How tall are your walls ?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’m looking to build a shop out at my house for my sign business and I want to do it myself. What was your end cost for this project?
My shop is pretty large. About 1500sqft. So keep that in mind. It cost around $30,000 for the kit and another $30,000 to finish the entire thing.
@@Mullenthemaker awesome man. Thank you for getting back to me 👍🏻
How much was it$$$
What size kit did u get? trying to eye ball it
This was custom. It was a 62’x 24’ shop
@@Mullenthemaker height from floor to rafters?
Im an electrician and thats not professional lol. I hope the electrician didnt run that romex
Hey can you come by and snap your fingers at my building cause its getting hot outside...
10:44 smart? Electrical is not difficult. Save a lot of money doing it yourself. Electricians charge a shit ton of money. Panels are not difficult.
would you do the versatube again versus wood diy ? heard mixed reviews online forums
Get rid of the horrible music
pay for wiring when it's the easiest part of the build LOL. NO!
versatube calls it hat channel when is on the side the building, but purlins when they are on the roof
I lifted one my self build one all by myself55by25 12fott hi
