I like the building.....I would if liked to see more overhang of the roofline soffet and fascia over the building....looks like you did a 12" inch overhang...I think the building would of been more protected and looked nicer with a 16"-20" overhang.
Ya I get what you mean, although i'm not too terribly worried about the protection of the building because i'm going to add 12ft wide lean-to's on each side of the shop within the next year or two.
Very nice work. Great to see a build in the PNW get get a better idea about costs. I see your concrete work came in at just over $10/sqft. I'm in SW WA, and the bids I'm getting for an almost identical job are at $15 - $20/sqft ! Crazy !
I think even $10/sqft is nuts for a something that is considered rough labour, even easier than framing. I got a quote on a pour a slab for a new 24x36 shop. Got quoted $12,000 for the concrete & labour These guys are on crack. I build high end kitchen cabinets and don't charge near that day-rate.
Those auto locks are prone to failure causing damage to the track. Apparently, they fail to unlock when the motor is engaged. My installer stopped using them because of that.

Main reaso would be looks. Didn't think it would look great with the windows on the bottom half of the doors. Their main purpose is to let more light in and for looks vs being able to look out.
on that 15K for lumber and labor how much was either or (lumber or labor only). I like the way the walls were built seems that works will with scaffling vice having to rent something to stand those walls up.
@@PoolJourney I wanna say the lumber was about $8500, and the framing was about $6500. But they gave us a really good deal on framing up the building because he’s one of my best friends.
@stayystoked OK good deal, so far I just had $8161 of lumber delivered for my 27 / 48 so we're real close in numbers with lumber and about the same with trusses.
Is this stick built better than a pole barn? You could do the additions with a pole barn and use a cantilever truss. The attachment to the building needs to be very strong so it does not get ripped off. I'm not sure how it is done but I think there should be a plate installed inside the wall and bolts that go all the way through.
Non operational windows or gonna use a ladder to open? This thing is huge gonna be nice you'll be able to shoot basketball inside of it looks like ? You can tell them two ol boys been working together for a while they smoked this thing out !
Yeah the four windows on the side of the shop are non operational. The smaller 3x3 window on the back opens so we can vent in the summer if needed. Haha yep they've been framing together for a long time!
Smart putting the windows up high much more secure
Thanks that was definitely my thought, and looks better too.

Thank you I appreciate it!

I did have to adjust a few things on the doors once they were installed, it’s been working great since!

so they toe nailed the studs to the bottom plate ? why did they go that route?
Toe nailing is a lot better
would it be about right to add 30K to paid for your labor. just getting a cost of the bill?
Yeah I would say that would be a pretty good guess for what a contractor would charge to do all of the labor that I did.

Nice build. Why didn't you put the garage door glass closer to eye level to be able to look out of them?
It's possible he is using them to allow light in only. Don't want anyone looking in to see what you have.

To be honest we never really looked fully at the option of building a pole barn based on the size of building and budget we were sticking with.
Hey I’m building a almost identical shop with the same size doors was wondering how you like those openers
Once I got the faulty one replace I love them. Super quiet and fast opening and closing. Would recommend for sure

What did you use for plans, how did you come up with the design?
