Today we are playing Wild Card Football a new $30 Football video game with NFL Players and arcade style gameplay. I was told this game was fun, but I don't really feel that way... anyways let's have a good time!

This game HAD so much potential, but the hardcore monetization, making everything behind a grind or a pay, killed it at the start. I was excited to buy this one at launch but ended never buying
What?there are no microtransactions except a few packs I wish it was the grind is way too much
The bit at 11:45 killed me, that was a certified "oh right I like this video/creator and should click the button for the algorithm" moments

One of my favorite sports games is still MLB Power Pros 2008, especially the Success Mode. Such a fun replay-able game mode. I still remember playing it all summer one year as a kid.

It was amazing growing up and still holds up pretty well. The announcers are repetitive but the gameplay and story is still very good! 2007 with the college story was my preferred one but 2008 is good as well.
2nd on this, would love to see Drew do Success Mode and get himself a girlfriend

My first thought looking at this game was "this looks like WWE 2k Battlegrounds," which makes sense because it's by the same developer.
But battle grounds was good
Only difference is that 2K wasn't around to ram MT's down our throats.

Hey NTE, you ever play the Quarterback Club games on the N64? I remember the one I had, I think it was '99, had a really interesting mode where you played historical moments in games. One of the toughest was trying to lead a Broncos comeback in that one SB they got smoked in.
My next door neighbor had this game and he really liked playing it. I didn't care for it so much.

I actually really enjoy wildcard football I wish there was a better season mode but building your team and going through the single player stuff is fun and can be difficult

Based on the menus i think this game was made by same people who made WWE Battlegrounds, so your early wrestling comparisons might’ve been Accurate!
I got startled flashbacks when I saw the font and shape of the menus. The fact that this is is basically a converted --Grounds game makes everything make sense, especially the art style and amount of unlocks.

I got this game just randomly a few months ago and it is one of the most games ever made. I didn’t expect much and I wasn’t let down. It was nice to just goof around with but that’s pretty much it

Not sure if you could emulate it, but Mutant League Football, and Mutant League Hockey on Sega Genesis were a ton of fun when I was young.
I still think you should play more NHL HITS 2003 or NFL BLITZ 2001 and do a season of one of those. would be super entertaining.

Mutant football league has a dynasty mode but no custom teams. Very fun rosters are based on the current team. More a blitz the league football game

Brock Purdy being like a 40 OVR is so weird because he literally went to the super bowl and has some of the best stats as a NFL QB.
I think it's just low-rated versions of players that you have to level up to their real ratings. He also had a 50 overall Brian Robinson, who might not be a star but he's better than 50.

Yeah I was excited for this game, especially with a lot of content creators giving it high praise. Bought it on sale for $20 played for about 10-15 minutes and immediately refunded it. Trash.

I’ve being curious about this game. For the longest time I wanted to make a new Blitz/NBA jam like game.
But they seem to be against making a simple arcade sports game. They seem to want to make them too technical instead of making a simple pick and play game. That you can learn on about 5 minutes.
I don’t even mind the loot boxes. But they keep trying to hard to make a cool game instead of making the game fun to play.

How about Bad News Baseball for the NES? I would also suggest the original Baseball Stars for the NES as well. Baseball Stars from that era was well ahead of its time in some aspects as it gave you Create a Team options where you can select from several pre made logos and jerseys that were associated with the logos, you could name the team anything you like (only 16 characters) and you could name your players anything you like (only 6 characters). You could fire and hire players. As you played games and won you would earn money to sign the players to new contracts that would give you anywhere from 1-6 points randomly to power up your players any way you wished. The games controls are simple and easy to pick up. You could even climb the fence to rob home runs.

These devlopers must be dumb. They have the blueprints to make good arcade sport games via Blitz, Hitz, Slugfest and Street, yet they still manage to fuck it up. Theres no hope for AAA developers anymore.

Maybe games were just too good 20 years ago so we now have to pay the price by watching the video games we once loved turn into trash.
Yes but also no. I'm an old man, been gaming since the first NES. Games themselves - like the mechanics, the story/characters, the actual FUN you used to have (instead of 80% of gaming being a mind numbing "grind")... those are all much worse now.
But regarding immersion, the real reason we all play video games, it's just much better now. Excellent graphics, professional voice acting, patch updates (sometimes) are all massive improvements to video gaming.
If they ever think to bring back to old style of game design, with these new graphics engines, we'll truly enter the golden age of gaming.
But, sadly, that will never happen. The best days of gaming ended with the PS3.

Well this is being made by the same creators who do NBA playground and WWE battleground. So this is pretty much of anything focus on packs and in-game currency that deals with boring or mid gameplay
