This game has crazier anticipation than madden itself. And you NEVER saw a choppy animation in this game. Whereas madden players run into each other, mouthing things while their eyes moves everywhere
NFL Street 2 did a lot of good things for the game (new plays, new modes, new moves, new customization), but the addition of hotspots and Gamebreaker 2s really ruined the dynamic. The major theme of NFL Street is that you're just a bunch of guys playing football wherever you can find a game, and the fields had a lot of character as a result. However, in NFL Street 2, the fields have to be almost entirely walled off, because otherwise what's the point of wall moves and hot spots? Additionally, now there's much less motivation to run plays up the middle, because that 20K (10K?) style point boost is too good to pass up. And with a Gamebreaker 2, which offers a guaranteed turnover, why would you bother triggering it earlier unless you absolutely had to? NFL Street 2 also took one of the most readable player editor interfaces and made it almost impossible to decipher. In the original, it was simple - long, color-coded stat bars. You could tell at a glance how good the player was, often to the exact stat value. Why remove that and replace it with tiny blue bars that all look the same? And, unless I'm mistaken, they also did away with the on-field ambient music, replacing it with EA Trax - quite the step down, in my opinion. As much as I hate to put it this way, I almost wish NFL Street 2 was a series of DLC packs instead of a completely new game. You could have all the great new stuff, but keep everything that made the original one so good and so accessible.
I remember when this game came out it was my absolute favorite. Back then as a kid it looked so realistic to me and was the best game to play after school. Wish they'd make a new one
